By signing up to Jeans for Genes Day you’re doing something amazing. Here’s just a handful of the things that your money could do…

pays for an hour of specialist telephone advice for parents caring for children with severe neurological genetic conditions.

pays for a mother to attend a support day, where she’ll get the advice and guidance she needs to care for her disabled child.

pays for a child carer to enjoy a summer camp, where they’ll meet others in a similar situation and have some much-needed fun.

goes towards creating a website where children affected with genetic disorders can get confidential information and support.

pays for five families affected by profound disabilities to enjoy an adaptive sports session, where they can build confidence and friendships with others in similar situations.

will help fund a film for teenagers with a life limiting condition encouraging them to come to terms with, and begin to take responsibility for, their condition.

Your fundraising will pay for the support and care that individual children need to really make their lives better. Children like Millie.

Five-year-old Millie is a popular, joyful girl. She likes drawing and being outside. The children on her street all love her: “She rides alongside them and feels very included,” her mum, Patsy, explains. But Millie has a rare genetic disorder that makes her different from other five year olds. Affecting just one in 25,000 children, Millie was born with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS), a condition that causes learning difficulties, motor skill problems and a vigorous appetite. Millie is in a wheelchair, communicates through sign language and always feels hungry.

Patsy wants Millie’s future to be happy and longs for the day when the growth hormones Millie is taking make her strong enough to walk. “I’d love to hold her hand and walk with her up the street,” she says.

Running your Jeans for Genes Day will make a difference for families like Millie’s, making it possible for Millie to meet other children living with PWS and enabling Patsy to talk to experts about the latest treatments for her child’s condition.

You’ll help children like Mi ie
