Children are our most beautiful gift! All of us are fortunate that we can lend hand in the process of

their growth. It is indeed a privilege to watch them grow and grow into wonderful, compassionate

beings. Children are the center of all our endeavors at ABPS Bhubaneswar!

At ABPS we cherish the goodness within every child!

The year that was…

The year began with the good news that; The Aditya Birla Public School, Bhubaneswar has been

affiliated to CBSE!

Baisakhi: Students spoke about the importance of “Ramnavami”, “Baisakhi” and “Maha Visubha Sankranti”

and about Ram Navami. Thus, the students were encouraged to follow the path of truth and maintain good

moral values in our life just like Lord Rama. On this auspicious occasion, our school decided to donate

bedsheets to Asha Kiran – an old age home situated at Jatani, Odisha.

Sri. Basant Kumar Birla Ji left us for his heavenly abode on 3rd July 2019. On 13th July 2019, we

conducted a special prayer meeting to pay homage to the departed soul. It was an emotional moment when hymns like –Hey Ram and Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram were recited. He was an epitome of dedication, industriousness and kindness. His simplicity and dedication are an inspiration for all of us.

Raksha Bandhan: A special assembly was conducted to observe “Raksha Bandhan”. Adityans went

to the Army Battalion at Bhubaneswar, to tie handmade rakhis on the wrists of our soldiers.

Independence Day was celebrated with utmost patriotic fervor on 15th August 2019 at ABPS,

Bhubaneswar. After flag hoisting, celebrations began with march past by our young Adityans followed

by speeches in Hindi and English and a spectacular dance performance with live

music.

Teacher’s Day: The students put up a spectacular show of live music and a dance performance to

honour their teachers on the auspicious occasion of Teacher’s Day on 5th September 2019.

SPIC MACAY: We were very fortunate to have eminent artists Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya on Santoor

and Pt. Prasenjit on Tabla who conducted a lecture cum demonstration for the students under the

aegis of SPIC MACAY. Music is the language of the soul and their wonderful performance deeply

touched everyone’s heart.

GANDHI JAYANTI AND LAL BAHADUR SHASHTRI JAYANTI: To commemorate the 150th birth

anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the students of ABPS, Bhubaneswar took a pledge to keep the

environment clean and follow the footsteps of Gandhiji. Adityans presented a number of programmes.

They led a Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan in the school campus as well as in their respective

classrooms truly representing the Gandhian principles.

Children’s Day was celebrated with great energy. The teachers conducted a special assembly for the children and sang for them. The scientific tests for ODISHA TALENT ADOPTION PROGRAM (OTAP) were carried out in the

Aditya Birla Public School, Bhubaneswar in which 124 students participated. OTAP is conducted to

find out the shooting talents amongst the children who will be trained professionally at the Birla

Gagan Narang High Performance Centre. This Centre is set up by the Aditya Birla Group in the city in

collaboration with the Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation and the Department of Sports and

Youth Services, Govt. of Odisha.

Workshops were conducted on Child safety, Cyber safety and Smart cities by experts in these domains. Numerous special assemblies and competitions were conducted to develop the abilities our Adityans.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS: Brimming with exuberance our tiny toddlers put up a fantastic

show during Christmas Celebrations. A short skit depicting the story of Jesus’s birth enacted by

the students of grades 1 to 3 enthralled the whole audience

.

SPORTS DAY: “A sound mind resides in a sound body” was the theme of the sports day. Beginning

with the “Drill of the tiny tots” to the display of combat techniques in Mayurbhanj Chau dance, to the

synchronized energies in Yoga and March Past, our kids displayed their physical prowess to the

greatest.

REPUBLIC DAY: Offering our tribute to the nation, by hoisting the flag with great pride and

reaffirming our commitment to unity in diversity, fraternity and equality, the Republic Day was

celebrated in all its augustness. “Tandava Natyam” by Abhipsa portrayed the cycle of creation and

preservation in a divine Odissi dance. Junior students refreshed the patriotic fervor with their song

“Hind Desh ke Niwasi”

INTERACT CLUB- INVESTITURE CEREMONY: Under the aegis of Rotary club, Bhubaneshwar,

installation of the Interact club, handover of the charter and induction of the President and Board of

Members was conducted on 7th February. the badge of President of the club. With her team of

workers, they pledged to work consistently for the community in full faith and spirit.

DESIGN WORKSHOP: Ms. Suhasini Mishra, Principal Architect with “Sukriti design studio took a

session on “Effect of colors” for students of grade VI to IX. Children were made aware of the

difference between interior designing and interior decoration, elements of design and how light,

space, lines, pattern, personal choice and texture all lay an important role in designing the space

given. She made children understand that we may all have our own choices but designing is

something which can also be learnt. It was an interactive session which the students thoroughly

enjoyed.

VISIT TO IIT BHUBANESHWAR: Students of grade VII to IX visited Open day and Grand Exhibition

day on “Science and Technology” of IIT Bhubaneshwar on 12th February 2020. Students came back

highly motivated and inspired by learnings from the diverse exhibits in the field of Material Science,

Metallurgy dept, Robotics, Aerodynamics, Fluid dynamics, Earth science, Chemical science and

Physical Sciences.

Achievements…..

• Ankita Devi, Aparna Biswadipta and Pritilina Hota bagged the first three positions in an art competition

sponsored by Axis Bank Art Fiesta.

• Arnab Pattnaik of class VIII (Standing right behind the Governor) was among the 13 skaters from

Odisha who were felicitated by the governor of Odisha, Shri Ganeshi Lal at Raj Bhavan. They have

officially achieved, registered and received the biggest title recognized in the world; GUINNESS

WORLD RECORDS Title for 48 Hours Non-Stop Roller Skating at Belgavi, Karnataka, India.

• Rudransh Sahu of Class IX was selected to Preliminary round of NAEST (National Anveshika

Experimental Skills Test in Physics) in top twenty list. He was the youngest student amongst

many graduate and Post Graduate students.

Skating: -

• Anwesha Rath of std IB secured the first and second position in the 500 metres and 200 metres

Skating Championship, held at Kalinga Stadium-Bhubaneswar.

• Arnab Rout achieved third position in under 14 Skating competition held on 13/10/2019 at

Cuttack.

Taekwondo: -

• Ayaan Ur Rehman (class IV) won a Silver medal at State level.

• Zaara Rehman (class IX) and Priyanshu Biswal (class IV) won the Gold medal at State level.

• Zaara Rehman of grade IX bagged a silver Medal in Heavy weight category (87kg, U-18) of 2nd

Open National Taekwon-Do Championship 2019 held at Rourkela on 30-31 December 2019.

Adityan Purujeet Das of class VIII won the “Super Champion Award” at the state level competition of

Abacus in Senior category and also won the 2nd prize at the “Gajasma Japanese Anzan and

Sorban Abacus International Competition” on 29th September 2019, held at Le Meridian, Dubai.

Our very talented Swayamsiddha Mishra launched her maiden book “The Laws of the Wind” on 24th

November 2019.

Our young Adityans Annaitah Chaudhary (Class V), Deepesh Pradhan (Class VI) and Sanzeeda

Reyajat Ali (Class VII) participated in the Eco –Achievers Quiz organised by SAEVUS and the

Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar. They were declared winners for their outstanding performance in

the competition.

Anshuman Badajena and Poorva Pratyusha of class VI along with their guide teacher Mr. Partha

Mitra participated in the Block Level Science Exhibition at Pipli. Their Combo Cleaner project was

selected for district level.

Students of class IX-Abhipsa Pati and Sai Priyadarshini (project- Ideal Township) Krishna Mittal and

Chiranjeeva Panda (Project- Futuristic Farm) participated in the CBSE Science Exhibition. Krishna

Mittal and Chiranjeeva Panda were declared regional winners

Ashisha Kumar Dash of class V and Bikash Kumar Swain of Class IX were selected for Round 2 in

the “Discovery School Super League Competition” powered by Byju’s.

Aarav Agarwalla of grade II secured 13 International rank in SOF - International Maths Olympiad and

bagged a Medal f distinction and Certificate of distinction.

Swayamsiddha Mishra of grade VIII secured International Rank 9 in SOF International English

Olympiad and bagged the Medal and certificate of distinction.

Pratyush Mohanty of grade VIII secured 144 International rank in SOF International Cyber Olympiad

and bagged Medal and Certificate of distinction.

In the ANCQuiz conducted by Royal Australian Chemical Institute, Australia, 5 of our children

brought laurels to the school; Aniket Das of grade VIII received High Distinction Excellence

award. Anwesh Patnaik of grade VII, Yash Agarwalla and Swayamsiddha Mishra of grade VIII and

Krishna Mittal of grade IX secured High Distinction award

Abhipsa Pati of class IX has been shortlisted for “Young Scientist Programme”, “Yuvika 2020”

(YUva VIgyani KAryakram) organized by ISRO.

Amongst 11,000 schools from 107 countries taking part in School Enterprise Challenge, UK our

school has achieved the Silver Level.

A Skill development camp was conducted to enhance Basketball, Cricket and Art, Music and dance.

The year saw cyclone Fani that destroyed the East wall, parts of South and West walls of our

compound. The fountain was shattered and the canopy above Saraswatiji was also broken.

The lamps, the trees… it was heart breaking.

The fountain, the canopy, the walls are reconstructed and the green trees are back now…..

Even the children helped in planting trees…..

Adityans made cards, wrote messages in Oria and gifted the cards story books to the students of

Konti Nodal school.

With the shadow of the Pandemic now hanging all over the world, we are in constant touch with our

children and their parents. Our teachers are preparing course material, assignments and we are

using online resources to ensure that learning goes on even in times of Corona….

May our Adityans Learn Well and Enlighten the World with their Wisdom.
