For the first time in my career I had a “handover period” which was a great bonus and has enabled me to hit the ground running. Snapper closures now in place With Snapper fishing closures now underway in SA waters, fishers are being urged to set their sights on a different kettle of fish. Snapper fishing closures commenced on 1 November 2019 to support the long term recovery of South Australian Snapper stocks. The closures were adjusted as part of revised Snapper management measures aimed at returning the Snapper fishery to sustainable stock levels. Closure details include:

A total Snapper fishing closure applies in West Coast, Spencer Gulf and Gulf St Vincent waters until 31 January 2023.

An annual closure is also in place in South East waters. This closure applies from 1 November until 31 January 2023 each year until 2023.

During the closures, the targeting, take and/or possession of Snapper is prohibited.

Any Snapper hooked accidentally while fishing for other species must be carefully handled to immediately return it to the water.

Catch and release fishing is strictly prohibited. While Snapper may be off the menu, fishers are encouraged to show their support for regional fishing communities and continue enjoying the diversity of other fishing experiences available in our state’s beautiful waters. Snook, Australian Herring (Tommies), Yelloweye Mullet, Sweep, Yellowfin Whiting and Sand Crabs are just some of the popular species fishers can target over the summer months. Gifts for Christmas

Each year we run a Book Fair at school to give people an opportunity to buy gifts and set them aside for the Festive Season. This year we have decided not to run the Fair so families do not feel any pressure to purchase items in the current economic climate. Instead we are running one final Scholastic Book Sale to give an opportunity to purchase last minute gift ideas for children/ grandchildren. You can view the catalogue on line at Scholastic Book Club and orders can be given with payment to the library or alternatively paid and ordered online through Scholastic Loop Orders.

Delivery is free to the library so there’s no need to worry about postage. Orders must be received by the Library no later than Wednesday 27th November. If you need any help or would like to collect a catalogue pop into the library for assistance.
