2018 Brides - We dare you to try these HOT new trends!
Bridal Showcase
1. Dresses accessorised
with just that touch of black! Overlays of black lace bodice
or a belt.
2. Sleeves - big blousy sleeves in all shapes and sizes.
3. The most see-through of sheer
fabrics.
4. Deep deep V necks down to the navel !
For bridesmaids we are seeing lots
of chiffon ........ halter necks, one- shoulder designs and split to the
thigh skirts!
At The Wedding Showcase we havetrawled the internet, stalked the
bloggers and searched every weddingmagazine so you don't have to, andhere's our quick reveal of this year’s
"hottest trends" #notforeveryone
The most popular bridesmaid colour of the year is................
"Nostalgia Rose" A slightly more vintage take on the
blush pink we have seen over the last few years. And introducing "Amnesia"
the perfect match and a popular favourite for weddings

Please remember, it’s your day, your gown, your choice
WHEN SHOULD I START LOOKING FOR MY BRIDAL
GOWN? Beverley from Hi-Brow Brides
shares some advice
We recommend that you start looking as soon as your
wedding is booked. Most brides start looking at dresses approximately 12 to
18 months before the wedding because it often
takes a while to narrow down the style that best suits.
WHO SHOULD I TAKE WITH
ME? Whilst it is only natural that you would want to bring all the important ladies in your
life with you, we strongly recommend you limit it to
two/three people. Choose people who love you and who know you well and
whose opinion you trust completely. The more people you have with you the more opinions you will have and that is not always a good
thing as they naturally gravitate to the styles and
colours they like.
Summer Themes
lours
Unless you have been buried under heaps of tulle and chiffon you won't have missed Pantone's hot colour of the
year Ultra-Violet! Every magazine, every catwalk and fashion blog cannot get enough of the purple craze. To
stay bang on trend use this colour to POP out of a muted lilac/grey/soft pink palette.
If you're more of a shrinking violet then tone the colour down - the muted lilacs of the Ocean Song or Memory Lane roses are fast becoming this years favourite rose!
There's no need to stick to a monochromatic colour scheme matching bridesmaids with flowers, cakes, cravats, ribbons, the list is endless ... Save yourself a load of unnecessary stress by creating a colour palette. Whether you like to subtley blend your colours or make them POP there is a theme for you. Immerse yourselves in this . year's Pantone colours. .

Here come the boys The Buttonnhole is a single flower and sprig of foliage worn bythe men. Usually a flower to match the bridal bouqet and wornon the left lapel. Who should wear these The Groom, Best Man and who everis giving the bride away – usually Dad, plus don’t forget theGroom’s Dad and then anyone else you would like to include.Perhaps anyone participating in the ceremony or to make afamily member feel special. A “Boutonniere” is the French name for a buttonhole. It isalso the name given to a small grouped bunch of flowers/berries/ succulents or even feathers, popular at the momentand often tied with twine A Corsage is the ladies version, bigger than a buttonhole and with more detail. Can be worn on the left lapel ornowadays on the wrist or handbag.
The Pocket Square - The accessory of every well dressed English gent but did you know that this pocket handkerchief can be folded and displayed in many ways! The Cravat - used formally for weddings similar to a tie but with a ruched or scrunched knot, often referred to as a scrunchie tie.

Groom's Speech Guide
Acknowledge what a wonderful day you are having, pay a compliment to your new wife and toast her Thank your wife’s family for welcoming you into their lives, Try to name and include as many people as possible, if you have a small anecdote which illustrates their kindness friendliness or hospitality – mention it briefly Thank your own family.Mention the way they brought you up, but also try and add an anecdote about a amazing event during your childhood. Thank the bridesmaids and best man for all their support. Distribute any presents and toast them.
It's very easy to overthink your speech.
So why not stick to our
tried and tested
format - you can't go wrong!
Thank any additional friends and family who have helped in the planning and preparation of your special day. Now it’s time to talk about your wife. Tell the story of how you first met, or perhaps a funny story from your relationship; You need to make this personal and heartfelt. Handover to the best man to give his speech, but make sure you introduce him in a light-hearted way to pave the way for what’s to follow – and maybe add a joke about his notorious ability to confuse fact with fiction, or that he has a renowned imagination for over- exaggerating! It will get a laugh and paves the way for any of his revelations!

Top Cake Tips
1. Taste the cake. Arrange a tasting. This is an
excellent opportunity to meet 'the cake maker/designer'.
Understand the range of their abilities.
2. Select a Style
The design should fit in with the Venue decor, flowers and dress
style.
3. Size It Up The cake maker should advise
you on the number of tiers. For example a 3 Tier cake will feed between 50-100 servings.
Remember, it is up to YOU how big you want your Wedding Cake.
4. Price
The more detail on the cake the more expensive your cake will be.
5. Weather
Time of year is important. Buttercream cakes are not weather
resistant!

Our wedding was on 28th December at Birchwood Park Golf Club, we choose to get married around Christmas time, Patrick proposed to me on Christmas Day a few years earlier. We knew that we didn't want a Christmas theme and I think that we managed to pull that off with just some subtle nods to the festive season. We picked our colours of Tiffany Blue, silver and grey and then everything slotted into place from there. We chose to have candles, fairy lights and sparkles, and with the sun setting early in the winter months, it really made a lovely setting for the end of our wedding breakfast. We made a lot of the stationery and decorations ourselves but had help with our bridal flowers, top table arrangement and lighting. Due to the time of year we chose silk flowers. I still have my bouquets now in pride of place in our living room and I would urge people to consider a faux bouquet when choosing your flowers so you can have peonies in December! This stunning semi-naked cake has a frosty wintry feel to it. Spiced up with the red
roses and berries, pine cones and dark green
foliage, all handmade from sugar icing, it is spot on for
the season.
Louise’s Top Tip for a Winter Wedding:
That dream venue may well be within your reach during the Winter months. Ask if
they offer midweek or out of season packages
Flowers by Marion says: Check availability with your florist for fresh flowers around Christmas time. The Dutch markets take holidays too. Low availability does not just mean higher pricing but can result in poorer quality too. Follow Louise's advice and consider silk flowers - they are very lifelike and there is so much choice
