ESMF An Environmental & Social Management Framework

(ESMF) is prepared under PCGIP to ensure the

development schemes implemented by the

CDGs/WASA/City entities to be environmentally and

socially sustainable.

APPLICATION OF ESMF

Environmental and Social Screening of PCGIP and ADP Schemes was carried out.

Environment and Social Management Plans: Prepared Environmental and Social Management

Plans (ESMPs) E-2 category Schemes EPA, Punjab accorded approvals of these ESMPs ESMP cost was included in cost estimates,

Procurement plan and Bidding Documents

Environmental and Social Monitoring: ESMF Committee conducted environmental and social

monitoring of E-2 schemes Site visits, photographic records, public consultation

at each step, Lab analysis and development of monitoring report)

Third Party Validation

For an independent assessment of the ESMF implementation, was held in Gujranwala on 3-5 July 2014. TPV team visited following 06 schemes of WASA-G.

1.  Restoration of water supply Network along G.T Road Small State No 1 and Renovation of 19 Nos water works Zone-III.

 2. Replacement of sewer lines and Construction of Additional Manholes at Katcha Khiali Road, Takia Masoom Shah, Gala Mehr Bagoo wala, Mehr Noor wala, Darbar Qadria and allied areas Zone-II.

 3. Replacement of old sewer lines in Dhullay, Shahenabad and Gurunanak Pura i/c of Construction of Additional Manholes in Zone-lll

 4. Restoration of water supply Network Street No. 32 "Y" Block Peoples Colony and Repair of 21 Nos water works Zone-I.

 5 Restoration of water supply Network and Renovation of 22 Nos Water Works Zone-II.

 6. Repair / Construction of Additional Manhole Chambers and Gully grating at Popular Nursery, Amir Park, Shaheen Abad G.T Road, Civil Line, Wahdat Colony, Peoples Colony, Arfat Colony and Farid Town in Zone-l

Awareness about Punjab Environmental Protection Act 1997 (Amended 2012), Environmental Impact assessment and (EIA) and Initial Environmental Examination due to Workshops and training sessions organized by the Urban

WASA, Gujranwala conducted Environmental Assessment of JICA funded project "Up-Grading Mechanical System for Sewerage and Drainage Services in Gujranwala with the support of The Urban Unit and cases has been submitted with EPA, Punjab.

Environmental Impact Assessment of 04 ADP schemes is in progress
