LESSON PLAN

CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES USING THE LEARNING OBJECT TITLE: “ECLIPSES OF THE MOON AND THE SUN”

LEVEL: YEAR 6 TOPIS: ECSLIPSE

Teacher Activity ICT-Based/Teacher’s Material

1. Pre-stage:

Step 1:

Teacher asks students to observe the picture on the screen

Step 2:

Teacher poses questions to students based on the picture.

Example of questions are:

a) What is the source of light?

Students: the spotlight

b) What happen if something blocked the light?

Students: a shadow is formed

Teacher shows a picture on the screen to the class

2. While-stage:

Step 1:

Teacher shows part of Learning Object to class and asks some questions.

Example of questions are:

a) What orbits the earth?

Students: the moon

b) What orbits the sun?

Students: the earth

c) What happen if the moon blocks light from the sun?

Students: a shadow is formed on the earth

d) What we call this phenomenon?

Students: eclipse

Teacher introduce the eclipse of the moon and eclipse of the sun and encourage students for self-learning

Teacher asks students to explore the “Learn” in Learning Object : Eclipses of the moon and the sun

Teacher shows part of Learning Object to class

Students explore the “Learn” in Learning Object: Eclipses of the moon and the sun

Step 2:

Teacher lets students to explore the eclipse of the sun and eclipse of the moon

Teacher moves around to monitor students

Teacher answers questions asked by the students

Step 3:

Teacher asks students to observe and answer the given questions to understand the eclipse at various location of the moon

Step 4:

After finish, teacher asks students some questions.

Example of questions are:

a) What is the position of the moon, the earth and the sun during the eclipse of the moon?

Students: the earth is between the moon and the sun

b) What is the position of the moon, the earth and the sun during the eclipse of the sun?

Students: the moon is between the earth and the sun

Teacher asks students to complete Worksheet 1.

Example of questions in Worksheet:

a) Draw the position of the Moon, the Earth and the Sun during the eclipse of the moon. Explain why it occurs

b) Draw the position of the Moon, the Earth and the Sun during the eclipse of the sun. Explain why it occurs

Students explore the Learning Object to learn about eclipse and answer the following questions

Students complete Worksheet 1.

3. Post-stage

Step 1:

As for enrichment, teacher asks students to do a test called “BRAIN ATTACK”

There is a scoreboard to capture students performance

Students do a test called “BRAIN ATTACK”

b) What is your score?

c) Who scored more than 90% / 80% / 70% / 60% / 50%?

d) If your score is less than 50%, please repeat the test.
