Problem Solving – Multiplication and Division (ACMNA098) We are learning to use our knowledge of multiplication and division to answer an open ended problem. Warm Up – Study Ladder Multiplication Challenge (Check student portfolios on Class Dojo for log in details). Problem – Use RUCSAC. Read problem and understand what it is asking. * X ~ = 280. What might * and ~ be? How many different answers can you find? Complete the problem showing your working out. If you are having difficulty, here is a hint. If the number ends in a zero, what must it be a multiple of? Parents: Look for what strategies they are using. Are they completing the problem using division and their understanding of divisibility rules? Are they using ‘guess and check’? Are they using their estimating skills? Provided are the possible answers to the first problem so you can check if you are on the right track. Reflection – what strategy did you use? How did you know when you got all the possible answers? Upload your work to Dojo.
