Stixy.com (http://www.stixy.com/ ) Activities: 1. First, with books closed, show the title of the lesson to students and discuss it as s group work for 2 minutes. 2. Explain the difference between dish and meal, by eliciting the 3 main meals of the day (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Also explain health, healthy, unhealthy and healthly. 3. In pairs, students ask each other: a. What’s your favourite kind of food? b. What is your favourite dish? c. What’s your favourite fruit? d. Do you like vegetables? e. Do you eat healthly? f. Do you have a healthy life? 4. Still in pairs, give students a minute to write as many words and they can in 4 columns: MEAT / SEAFOOD / FRUIT / VEGETABLE 5. Elicit words from students, write on the board, say and students repeat. Ask them to copy.

Objectives:

Students will

1. Learn vocabulary related to food.

2. Write a comment about the tittle of the Lesson.

Materials:

1. Internet

2. Smartboard

3. Wordle.net (http://www.wordle.net/)

4. Stixy.com (http://www.stixy.com/)

Activities:

1. First, with books closed, show the title of the lesson to students and discuss it as s group work for 2 minutes.

2. Explain the difference between dish and meal, by eliciting the 3 main meals of the day (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Also explain health, healthy, unhealthy and healthly.

3. In pairs, students ask each other:

a. What’s your favourite kind of food?

b. What is your favourite dish?

c. What’s your favourite fruit?

d. Do you like vegetables?

e. Do you eat healthly?

f. Do you have a healthy life?

4. Still in pairs, give students a minute to write as many words and they can in 4 columns: MEAT / SEAFOOD / FRUIT / VEGETABLE

5. Elicit words from students, write on the board, say and students repeat. Ask them to copy.

6. Show the word cloud on wordle, and ask them to write down the words they don’t know.

7. Give them a monolingual dictionary so they have to look up the words on it.

8. Show 2 powerpoints with vocabulary words and images, so students can check.

9. As they already know most words which are going to be used in the lesson, thay can do the VOCABULARY BANK on page 144, and then start the lesson.

10. Finally, tell students they’ll have a great homework using the internet. Tell them you’ll post on EDMODO a tutorial explaining how to use STIXY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=8pggOxPWhSM) and the link where they have to write a comment about the title of the Lesson - Food: Fuel or pleasure?
