Question(s): Have you ever played 187 basketball games before? How many basketball games have you won? Activity: Encourage the students to use their expanded form basketball cutouts to demonstrate the expanded form of 187. Aſter each student has attempted to represent the number in expanded form, bring the class together. Model how to represent the num- ber as an equation in expanded form. Use your model to think aloud, being mindful to include some of the misconceptions you observed earlier. Ask questions at the end of the model to check for student understanding.
