• Students will explain why specific transportation is used based on the location of each country.

Materials:

• Story My Librarian is a Camel: How Books Are Brought to Children Around the World by Margriet Ruurs

Instructional Plan:

• As you read the story to the students have them locate each country on a map. • Ask the students if they have ever been to a library, either in school or a public

library in their town. • Ask the students what the title of the book means. • After reading about each country in the story, have the students discuss the

transportation used, and what type of library is located in each country. Assessment: Students will choose one country and write a compare and contrast paper focusing on how books are transported to the library in that country compared to the library that the students attend.
