Purpose Statement: This skit and Bible story teaches children that when they accept Christ they become new creations and therefore should act differently than before.

Materials/Props Needed: Lesson 7 DVD materials.

• Lead the children through the opening activity “Our New Creation” or “Animal Race.”

• Begin Worship Time.

Teacher(cD Track # 1) It’s great to see everyone here at the lab again. It’s time to get up and make some noise with this first song! Everybody up!

Teacher leads the children in singing the song.

Teacher(cD Track # 1) Great singing! And now it’s time to get started with what were talking about today. We’re talking about what happens to us after we become Christians. Our Bible verse today tells us that something really cool, happens. Check it out:

2 Corinthians 5:17 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (NLT)

TeacherThis verse tells us that, if we’re Christians, we’re completely new people! Isn’t that awesome!? I’m excited about this idea that being a Christian means that we are totally new people. By accepting Jesus, we get this amazing fresh start. Raise your hand if you have ever wanted to be someone else. Yeah, most of us want to be someone different at some point. The cool thing is that through Jesus, we do get to be someone new. I want everyone to remember this and that’s why today’s main point is Through Jesus I can Be a New creation! Everybody help me shout this.

Teacher leads the children by first demonstrating the main point with motions, or a child can be asked to help come up with motions. Then have the children repeat the main point two or three times.

TeacherThat was some great shouting! And try not to forget that main point. When we accept Christ we’re new creations, brand new. We become baby Christians. Like I said earlier, accepting Jesus is like getting a fresh start. And God has big plans for us in our new life as Christians. And just like babies, we have a lot to learn. We learn how we should treat others. We learn how we should talk and act.

And as we learn, we grow. We grow stronger spiritually as we read our Bibles, pray and go to church. Being a new creation sounds strange at first, but don’t worry. I think Dr. Oppenheimerstein and Flask are going to help us figure this out. Let’s see what they’re up to.

Note: Play “Skit/Bible Story Video” followed by “Mouse Maze.”

TeacherHopefully now you have a better idea of what it means to be a new creation. Through Jesus, we’re new creations and we need to live life like God wants us to live. I know one way that we can live like God wants; worship. And that’s what I want us to do right now. Everybody, please stand and sing this next song with us.

Teacher leads the children in singing the song and then begin the offering time.

OFFERING

Teacher(cD Track # 4) Now we’re going to take up our offering. This is a time to thank God for everything we have, including the new life we have in Jesus.

Teacher takes up offering.

Teacher (cD Track # 1) Thank you for worshipping with us. Now it’s time for our small groups. Today we’ll be learning even more about what we can do, and how we can live, as new creations.

SMALL GROUPS

Teacher Welcome back! You’re just in time to give me a hand with a little review game. It’s time for experiments With Dr. Oppenheimerstein!

Note: Lead the children through the questions. Hit “play” when a child has given you the right answer.

CLOSING

Teacher(cD Track # 1) Thanks again for your help. Remember, through Jesus, each of you is a new creation. Let’s try to start living like it. We’ll see you next week!
