14: When We sent to them two but they denied them, so We strengthened them with a third,

and they said, "Indeed, we are messengers to you."

15: The People said, "You are not but human beings like us, and the Most Merciful has not

revealed anything. You are only telling lies."

Three messengers came to them, one after the other. What happened? The people denied the

messengers, they called each and every one of them a liar. And notice this was not one messenger

came, he left, and then another messenger came, no, this was three messengers together at the same

time because you see when you hear something coming from only one individual you have reason to

doubt. But if the same message you're hearing not just from one person, but from three people then

you have no reason to doubt over here. But what happened? The people refused them.

16: The Messengers said, "Our Lord knows that we are messengers to you,

17: And we are not responsible except for clear notification."

18: They said, "Indeed, we consider you a bad omen. If you do not desist, we will surely stone

you, and there will surely touch you, from us, a painful punishment."

This is something so hurtful that when somebody says that you are a bad omen for us. What does

that mean? That since you have come you have only brought problems in our lives; you have only

brought difficulty to us that you were bad luck.

The fact is that there is no bad luck, anything bad or good, that happens in a person's life is by whose

will? Allah's will; and Allah tests us with good and with bad. But to blame somebody that you are

the root cause of all our problems this is something very hurtful. And they said, 'That if you do not

stop we're going to kill you.'

19: The Messengers said, "Your omen is with yourselves….

Meaning it is just in your head, you think that we have brought you bad omen, it's in fact with

yourselves.

….Is it because you were reminded?....

Meaning why are you so angry with us, so upset with us that you're willing to kill us? Is it because

we reminded you?

....Rather, you are a transgressing people."

20: And there came from the farthest end of the city a man, running. He said, "O my people,

follow the messengers.

21: Follow those who do not ask of you [any] payment, and they are [rightly] guided.

Page 3: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

We see that where the whole nation denied the messengers, what happened? Allah sent one person,

one person, from so far away who believed in the prophets and he said:

22: And why should I not worship He who created me and to whom you will be returned?

23: Should I take other than Him [false] deities [while], if the Most Merciful intends for me

some adversity, their intercession will not avail me at all, nor can they save me?

24: Indeed, I would then be in manifest error.

25: Indeed, I have believed in your Lord, so listen to me."

26: It was said, "Enter Paradise." He said, "I wish my people could know

27: Of how my Lord has forgiven me and placed me among the honoured."

We see that when the people rejected the prophets, three prophets that were sent to them,

Allah سبحانه تعالى helped the prophets by sending them a person from such a far place who believed

in them. And he didn't just believed in the prophets, but he also told the people to believe in the

prophets. And we see that this was no ordinary step, this was basically putting his own life in

danger. Because earlier, the people had said to the prophets that, “If you do not stop we're going to

kill you, we are going to stone you to death.”

So when this man came and spoke in support of the prophets, what happened? The people killed

him. They killed him. They didn't spare his life and we see that Allah سبحانه تعالى loved this deed of

this person so much, that as soon he was killed, immediately it was said: ة ا ن حخل ال دح - "Enter جن ة"

He was admitted into Paradise.

Now we see that apparently it was a terrible end that this person, he speaks the truth and he is robbed

of his life. Apparently this was a very sad end but in reality this was a beautiful beginning. This was

his beginning where? In جن ة, and this is something that we need to remember that many times

people look at things that are going on in a person's life and they pity him. But in reality his status

near Allah is very great. And we see that this person, when he's admitted into جن ة, he does not forget

his people, he still says; “I wish they knew, I wish they knew the reward that my Lord has bestowed

upon me.”

Why is it that he wants them to know? That they too would believe! This is sincerity! This is

sincerity.

What happens with us generally is that when we win in something, immediately we look down at

those whom we have defeated. Immediately we looked down at them even if it is something as small

as getting ahead of someone while driving. I mean we really look down on others but look at this

great man that how he's wishing for people that ‘I wish they knew’

1The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said that:

“Allah gives wealth to those whom He loves and also to those whom He does not love. But He gives

.”only to those whom He loves. Verily, when Allah loves a servant, He gives him faith ,ا ميان

He bestows him, with faith! So this person he had sincerity in him, you can see what a big heart this

man had. And this is why Allah سبحانه تعالى bestowed him with faith and greater than that is the

blessing of the sweetness of faith.

2The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

"He who performs three….

[Meaning he who does three actions]

…. will taste the sweetness of faith.…

[What are they?]

..… "The one who worships Allah alone.

Secondly that he believes that there is no God worthy of worship but Allah….

And he lives that lifestyle that there's no one worthy of my love, my attention other than

Allah تعالىسبحانه

…. And thirdly he gives Zakat of his wealth happily, which is mandatory on him every year."

Meaning every year that he has to give Zakat, he gives it how? Happily not begrudgingly. So the

person who comes forward in the way of Allah in this way that even if he has to give his life, he

gives it happily. Even if he has to give a part of his wealth, he gives it happily. Even if he has to

give up some of his sleep, he gives it happily. This is what really enjoying the sweetness of faith.

This is really relishing faith because this person has no resentment in his heart. Rather he loves

Allah and he loves to do, whatever Allah سبحانه تعالى wants from him.

3ريض هللا عنه أ وب ذر said that; “I asked The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص that what is it that saves the servant from the

fire?” And the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said: ".It is faith in Allah - اميان بهلل "

So when a person has been granted faith then this is truly a huge blessing of Allah. And those who

are deprived of faith, then they are truly deprived.

Allah says:

1 [1751:الرتغيب والرتهيبصحيح ] إن اهلل يؤيت املال من حيب ومن ال حيب وال يؤتى اإلميان إال من أحب فإذا أحب اهلل عبدا أعطاه اإلميان

28: And We did not send down upon his people after him any soldiers from the heaven, nor

would We have done so.

29: It was not but one shout, and immediately they were extinguished.

Meaning just one shout was sufficient to destroy all those people.

باد ي ح :30 ةا ع الح سح ….How regretful for the servants….

Oh what a pity!

....There did not come to them any messenger except that they used to ridicule him.

31: Have they not considered how many generations We destroyed before them - that they to

them will not return?

The fact is that this life is only one chance that we have and once a person dies, he is not returning to

this world. So this life is so critical that we make use of the days that Allah has given to us over

here, of the nights that Allah has given to us over here, the opportunities that Allah has blessed us

with over here, why? Because when a person leaves he's not coming back.

32: And indeed, all of them will yet be brought present before Us.

33: And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from

it grain, and from it they eat.

34: And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused to burst forth

therefrom some springs –

Meaning, if you want to see Allah's favors, if you want to recognize Allah, just look around you, just

look at how much rain fell.

35: That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not produced it, so will they not be

grateful?

Like really the blessings that we enjoy, what is it that we have made of all these blessings that we

use? Did we make the fruits? Did we make the grain? Did we make the trees? Not at all!

36: Exalted is He who created all pairs….

Because every creature what does it need? It needs a pair. Every creature is incomplete without its

pair, because in pairs what happens? The creation, it completes one another, it complements one

another perfects one another. For example, if you have one shoe, one shoe. what good is it to you?

One sock even, what good is it to you? What happens when you get a hole in one sock? The other

Page 6: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

Page 6 ربنا تقبل منا

sock, you keep it for some time thinking that perhaps someday you'll use it but eventually you get rid

of it because it's no use it's useless!

So, this is the reality of the creation we are incomplete we are imperfect, but Allah زوجلع , He's the

only one who is One, Unique!

....Exalted is He who has created all pairs from what the earth grows and from themselves and

from that which they do not know.

Meaning it's quite possible that there is a creation whose pair we do not know but it certainly has a

pair. And a pair doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be exactly of the same type, it could be

something completely different but it complements the other, it completes the other. Like for

example the moon is no moon without the sun or is it, is it? No the moon has no light of its own

without the sun. Even though there's a huge difference between the sun and the moon but the sun

and the moon complement each other, they complete one another. What is the day? The day will not

be known and recognized except with its opposite which is the night. So everything is in pairs.

37: And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of] day, so they are [left]

in darkness.

38: And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the

Exalted in Might, the Knowing.

39: And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the

old date stalk.

So thin and fine, barely visible in the sky.

40: It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day,

but each, in an orbit, is swimming.

It is moving, it is moving in its own orbit and each is within its own limits that we don't see the sun

and the moon colliding into each other, we don't see that happening. Why? Because for each is a

role, for each is a task and each is obediently doing what is required to do. And in our lives also we

can only be productive and useful and beautiful when we recognize what our roles are, what our

obligations are and we perform them to the best of our ability without interfering into the work of

other people.

41: And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship.

42: And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride.

Meaning Nuh عليه السالم, the survivors with him, what is it that they were saved on? The ship! And

today also, what is it that people ride when they have to cross the water? Various forms of vessels

that help us transport and travel from one place to another.

Page 7: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

....And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride.

43: And if We should will, We could drown them; then no one responding to a cry would

there be for them, nor would they be saved

Just imagine in the middle of the ocean could be a boat that just turns over, who is it that hears their

screaming, who is it that saves them? So the fact that we are safely able to travel from one part of

the world to the other, this is exclusively Allah’s mercy.

44: Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time.

45: But when it is said to them, "Beware of what is before you and what is behind you;

perhaps you will receive mercy.... "

Meaning take lesson from history, take lesson from the past, take lesson from what is going on in the

world right now, from the accidents that happened today, that you witnessed, that you come to know

of. Aren't there so many sad news that we come to know of, so many disasters, so many casualties?

So these events that happen, these incidents that happen, they are to teach us a lesson. When it is

said to them take a lesson, beware of what is before you and what is behind you perhaps you will

receive mercy, what happens?

46: And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it

turning away.

The fact is that a believer lives this life with his eyes open, he is very observant, and he takes a

lesson from everything that is around him. Even if something happens far from him, still when he

comes to know of it he takes lesson from it. He doesn't turn a blind eye to the rain that falls and the

trees that grow and the accidents that happen. No, he takes lesson from that, he realizes from all of

these incidents the greatness of his Lord, his own vulnerability, his own dependence and need of

Allah, need of the creator. And this is the reason why he continues to worship his Lord preparing for

the Hereafter.

47: And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allah has provided for you," those

who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He

would have fed? You are not but in clear error."

What logic that if Allah wanted to feed them, He would have fed them, why should we feed them?

Well the fact is that Allah has tested them, the poor, by giving them less and Allah has tested you by

giving you more.

48: And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"

49: They do not await except one blast which will seize them while they are disputing.

50: And they will not be able [to give] any instruction, nor to their people can they return.

Page 8: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

Meaning they cannot leave any last minute messages, they cannot even send any last minute

messages and they cannot return to their family, this is how suddenly death comes.

51: And the Horn will be blown…. ر .... ونفخ ف الص

And this is referring to the second blowing of the trumpet.

….and at once from the graves to their Lord they will hasten.

Meaning at once when the trumpet will be blown, what will happen? Immediately Resurrection will

take place and people will rush to the place of gathering.

4The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

"Since the time that the angel, who is to blow the trumpet was given his task, he has been ready with

his eyes set upon the Throne afraid that his eye might be deviated when the order comes."

So the Angel افيل !who is appointed to blow the trumpet, how is he right now? Ready! Waiting ا سح

Where are his eyes? Set upon the Throne. Meaning he's waiting for the command from Allah that

Allah will order him and immediately, instantly, he will blow the trumpet. And as he will blow the

trumpet the Day of Judgment shall be established.

5The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

"How can I be at ease when the angel of the trumpet has placed his mouth upon the trumpet, bent his

forehead and is awaiting the command of his Lord”.

How can I be at rest! This is just like if there's somebody sitting in the car with their hand on the

keys and you are still outside. Can you walk slowly? What are you going to do? You're going to

run because the car is going to start any second, any moment!

This is like you're running to catch a bus and the bus driver is sitting, waiting with his foot on the

brake and all he needs to do is just release his foot and then that's it, the bus is going to move. So

what are you going to do at that time? Walk slowly? How do you find people when they're running

to the bus stop, do you see them running? Yes, they are running, running with all their might, with

all their effort, rushing to get to the bus stop so that they can get into the bus, isn't that so?

So this is our reality, we cannot delay until tomorrow to perform a good deed. We cannot wait until

we are fifteen, until we are twenty, to perform a good deed. When we learn about something and we

have the ability, we have the opportunity, then we have to make use of this time right now because

we never know when death is going to come to us.

….and at once from the graves to their Lord they will hasten.

52: They will say, "O woe to us! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place?"….

What does this reply indicate? These words; what do they indicate? That the stay in the graves will

seem like rest to the people and we learn that in the graves will also be punishment so why is it that

when people will rise from their graves they will say “who woke us up from our sleeping places?”

Because the resurrection, its horrors, its punishment, its severity is far worse than what the people

saw in their graves. They'll be told:

…."This is what the Most Merciful had promised, and the messengers told the truth."

53: It will not be but one blast, and at once they are all brought present before Us.

54: So today no soul will be wronged at all, and you will not be recompensed except for what

you used to do.

ة :55 ن حاب ال صح

ن أ م ف شغل فاكهن ا ح ي الح ….Indeed, the companions of Paradise, that Day,

Meaning what will be their occupation that day in جن ة? Only joy and pleasure; that is their

occupation.

56: They and their spouses - in shade, reclining on adorned couches.

57: For them therein is fruit, and for them is whatever they request

58: [And] "Peace," a word from a Merciful Lord.

Meaning in جن ة, all that a person needs to do is wish, that's it! In جن ة, a person doesn't even need to

place his order, he doesn't even need to do that, whatever they wish, whatever they request, whatever

they imagine, it will be brought to them.

6We learn in a حدث that once the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص was narrating something and a Bedouin was sitting

with him. The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

"One of the inhabitants of Paradise will ask Allah to allow him to cultivate the land….

Page 10 ربنا تقبل منا

Can you imagine a person in جن ة will say "O' Allah please allow me I want to plant my garden"

Alright, why will he say that? Because a person who loves to do these things in this life then of

course when they want to go to جن ة they want to fulfill their desire. So even if their desire is to work,

what will happen?

…. Allah will ask him, "Are you not living in the pleasures you like?" ….

Meaning why do you need to work and plant your own garden?

…. He will say, 'Yes, but I like to cultivate the land….

I like to plant my own garden it's my hobby I find pleasure in it I'd like to do this." The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص

added;

"When the person will be permitted, then he will sow the seeds, and the plants will grow up and get

ripe, ready for reaping. And so on till it will be as huge as a mountain within a wink……

Meaning within the blink of an eye, what will happen? The seed will germinate, the plant will come

out, the fruit will grow, it will be ripe ready for picking and so big, so much produce that, that

produce will be like that of a mountain, within how much time? Blink of an eye! This is so quickly

a person's wishes will be fulfilled

…. And Allah will then say to him, "O Son of Adam! Take, here you are, gather all of this, nothing

satisfies you."

Meaning your greed, your desire is astonishing, when is it that you'll be satisfied!

So what this حدث illustrates is that جن ة is the home of the desires whatever it may be, whatever it

may be, whatever that desire maybe.

7We learn that also in جن ة, a person when he will desire to have a child in جن ة. And this is something

that's natural especially for women, they love to have children. Many women, they love to have

children. And the reason why they find childrearing difficult is what? The difficulties, that come

along with child bearing and child rearing and looking after children. So, when a person will wish to

have a child in جن ة, then it will be carried in pregnancy, born and complete in his aging, in an hour.

Meaning a person will have the child the exact age that he wants the child to be, alright? Because

complete his aging, meaning the aging that is according to the wishes of the person in جن ة.

Meaning if he wants a newborn; okay newborn! Five months old; okay five month old! Ten months

old, okay, twelve month old, fifteen month old; whichever age because you see there are different

ages that people like. Like sometimes you want to freeze your child that, 'Please don't grow

anymore, never grow up because you're so cute as you are!'

believers in the world today you'll be separated.

60: Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you not worship Satan - [for]

indeed, he is to you a clear enemy –

Why did you listen to him?

61: And that you worship [only] Me? This is a straight path.

62: And he had already led astray from among you much of creation, so did you not use

reason?

63: This is the Hellfire which you were promised.

You were warned of this.

64: [Enter to] burn therein today for what you used to deny."

What this أ ة clearly states is that those who deny, they will not make it to paradise. Those who do

ر ر they will make it where? What is their destination? Hellfire. This may be كفح of Allah, denying كفح

Allah, denying the messengers, one messenger even, denying the أ خرة, or denying any of the tenets

of faith or denying any part of what Allah has revealed.

So for example, denying that there is something such as صالة that a person says, “Ya, I believe in

Allah but I don't believe that there is anything such as صالة that a Muslim has to observe.” This is

also a kind of ر .كفح

Or denying that for example جحاب that a person says, “No there is no جحاب.” No, there is جحاب, it's

clear in the قرأ ن and ةن . It's different that a person finds it difficult to do and they say that, “I don't

Page 12: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

find myself ready to do it right now and I hope I will do it someday.” This is not ر ر ,كفح is when a كفح

person says, “O there's no جحاب, there is no صالة, there's no fasting, there's no Ramadan.” This is ر كفح

and this kind of ر .is something that would lead a person to hell كفح

8We learn that the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

"On the Day of Judgment that, what will happen is that an announcement will be made that, let every

nation follow what they used to worship. So the people of the cross, will go to their cross, and the

people of idols, will go to their idols. And the people of every god….

[Meaning every false deity]

…. will go with their god. Till there will remain those who used to worship Allah, both the obedient

ones and the disobedient ones. And also some people of the scripture….

[the people of the book, the Jews and the Christians]

…… then hell will be presented to them as if it were a mirage. Then it will be said to the Yahood,

“What did you used to worship?” They will say, “We used to worship Ezrah, the son of Allah."….

One of the prophets whom they associated with Allah; this is a particular group of the Jews, now

they don't even exist or perhaps they do but this kind of belief did exist, at one point in time in the

Jews.

…."So, it will be said to them, "You are liars, for Allah has neither a wife nor a son. What do you

want now?" They will reply, “We want you to provide us with some water.” Then it will be said to

them, "Drink." And they will fall down in hell instead. Then it will be said to the Christians, "What

did you use to worship?" They will reply, “We used to worship 'Isa' the son of Allah.” It will be

said, "You are liars, for Allah has neither a wife nor a son. what do you want now?" They will say,

“We want you to provide us with water.” It will be said to them, "Drink." And they will fall down in

hell instead."

So the fact is that anyone who does ر ركفح even if it is the كفح of one messenger, Muhammad ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص, this

is something that will ultimately lead a person where? To hellfire! This is why we should never ever

be in doubt and think that, "Oh everybody will go to paradise, eventually, somehow or the other."

This is something very serious, 'ا ميان' is a very serious matter, we need to be careful about our faith

and also the faith of others.

YA-SIN 65–83 – AS-SAFFAT 1-61

YA-SIN 65–83

65: That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their

feet will testify about what they used to earn.

Meaning the criminals will not be asked to speak to defend themselves, their bodies will speak.

9The Prophetملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“On the Day of Judgement when people will be presented their mouths will be sealed and then the

first part that will speak of their body is their thigh and their palms”.

Their palms, do you see the palms of your hand? This will speak! The thigh, it will speak. Because

you see if we are allowed to speak, if the tongue is allowed to speak, then what will happen? It will

lie, it will never admit a fault, isn’t it so? So a person will not be able to defend himself verbally.

When a person will be questioned about his sin, he will want to come up with any lie in order to free

himself, so what will happen? The mouth will be sealed and the hand will be made to speak, the foot

will be made to speak.

A person wonders that how is it that the hand will speak? Well today it’s amazing how ‘Siri’ talks to

you, isn’t it? Siri talks to you and what is Siri? Something that’s man-made, you can have the

funniest conversations even with Siri if it manages to understand your accent that is. So I mean if we

as human beings with our limited knowledge and capacity, if we can come up with this technology

then Allah, the one who gave human beings the ability to speak, He can also give the hand the ability

to speak.

So make sure you do with your hands, what you can hear from your hands. Make sure you do with

yourself, what you can hear from yourself. And keep away from all those things which we will not

have the ability to face.

66: And if We willed, We could have obliterated their eyes, and they would race to [find] the

path, and how could they see?

67: And if We willed, We could have deformed them, [paralyzing them] in their places so

they would not be able to proceed, nor could they return.

Meaning if Allah wanted He could have deprived us of these faculties through which we learn, if He

wanted He could have done that. It is His favour that He has allowed us, He has given us the ability

to see, to understand, to rationalize, to wonder, to perceive, to learn!

68: And he to whom We grant long life We reverse in creation….

Meaning a person who lives a long life, what happens? He begins to deteriorate physically to a point

that he returns to the state of absolute dependence on people just as he used to be absolutely

dependant on them before as a child.

….so will they not understand?

Will they not take a lesson and make use of their life that when they see people who are aging, why

don’t they understand that their life is also short, temporary?

69: And We did not give the Prophet, knowledge of poetry, nor is it befitting for him. It is

not but a message and a clear Qur'an

70: To warn whoever is alive and justify the word against the disbelievers.

So the قرأ ن is a warning for who? Those who are alive! But generally what do we do we recite

in order to رة يس when somebody has passed away. When somebody has died we recite رة يس

transfer rewards to them. Okay, perhaps your Du’as انشاء هللا will benefit. However, the قرأ ن is

actually a warning for those who are alive, a message for those who are living. And this means while

we are alive we need to read the قرأ ن, understand it, implement it.

71: Do they not see that We have created for them from what Our hands have made,

grazing livestock, and [then] they are their owners?

Allah created this creation for us and we own it, we use it.

72: And We have tamed them for them….

Meaning these animals are made subservient to people.

….so some of them they ride, and some of them they eat.

I mean isn’t it amazing that how goats and sheep, so easily they can be slaughtered? Imagine if they

were like lions, impossible it would be for us to hunt them and then catch them and then eventually

slaughter them, impossible it would be! I mean we would die in the process of hunting them. But

it’s amazing how Allah سبحانه تعالى has created this creation as food for us and so humble, so

subservient it is for us.

73: And for them therein are [other] benefits and drinks, so will they not be grateful?

Page 15: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

Will they not be grateful?

74: But they have taken besides Allah [false] deities that perhaps they would be helped.

75: They are not able to help them, and they [themselves] are for them soldiers in

attendance.

Meaning those who are invoked other than Allah, who are they in reality? Allah’s servants and on

the Day of Judgement they will oppose those who worshipped them.

76: So let not their speech grieve you. Indeed, We know what they conceal and what they

declare.

Meaning with what confidence he argues with his Lord, he opposes Allah that look at your

beginning, what were you? Does it befit you to even speak a word against Allah?

78: And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, "Who will

give life to bones while they are disintegrated?"

79: Say, "He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation,

Knowing."

80: [It is] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite.

That how it’s amazing a tree is green and then eventually we use it as firewood, we use it as

firewood! And even the sparks of fire come from a tree that is green.

81: Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them?....

The one who created the sky, the earth, from green tree, fire, can He not resurrect the dead? Can He

not do that? Of course it is possible!

…. Yes, [it is so] …. ليم ب ق الح الح ال ل وه …… and He is the Knowing Creator.

Meaning the angels that bring the revelation.

4: Indeed, your God is One,

The one who created these angels and the one who is managing the affairs of His entire creation,

who is He? Only one and He alone is the one deserving of worship.

Who is He?

5: Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises.

Page 17: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

Sunrises: مشارق - Apparently there seems to be only one point of sunrise but we know every single

morning the sun rises, it rises from a different point than it rose the previous day. And also remember

that one person’s east is another person’s west.

So: مشارق الح ,No matter what direction, what point it is in space or in the earth, in the horizon - رب

who is the Lord of it? Who is the creator of it? Who is the owner of it? The one who is managing

it, looking after it; it is Allah, He is the one who is deserving of your worship.

Now over here, at the beginning of the Surah the angels are mentioned and especially what is

mentioned is, that the fact that they line up in rows.

10

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said that:

“Why don’t you stand in rows as the angels do in the presence of their Lord?”

He said to the Sahabas that the angels stand in rows before Allah, why don’t you do the same thing?

The Sahabas said, we asked, “How do the angels stand in rows in the presence of their Lord?”

Meaning what are their rows like?

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“They make the first row complete and they keep close together in their rows”

Meaning first they fill up the first row and then the next row and then the next row and then they

continue on like this and they don’t leave spaces in the middle.

11

In another حدث we learn that the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص, he used to pass through the rows from one side to

the other. Meaning when the Sahabah would stand in صالة, when the Iqamah was pronounced, he

would go from one side of the row to the other, one end to the other, why? In order to make sure that

the rows were straight. And he would say,

“Do not be irregular. Allah and His angels bless those who are near the first rows.”

10

12In another حدث we learn that the Prophetملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“Keep your rows straight for your rows resemble those of the angels. Join the shoulders and fill the

gap between yourselves and be gentle and soft in the hands of your brothers.” ….

Meaning if somebody pulls you close to themselves then be gentle over there ين gentle in the way

that you pull and also gentle in the way that you are pulled. Meaning don’t stand stubbornly over

there shaking them off and kicking them away or you know pushing them away, no! be gentle and

soft in the hands of your brothers.

…. “And do not leave spaces for شيطان because he who joins the row then Allah joins him and he

who breaks the row then indeed Allah breaks him.”

Now all of these حادث ?what do they show to us أ

That making rows first of all, making them regular and straight and then filling the spaces in the

middle and not leaving any gaps in the middle and going to the front and making sure that the rows

in the front are complete, this is something we must pay attention to. This is not something that is

insignificant especially when it comes to prayer, when it comes to Salatul Jama’ah, when we are

praying together, then what is necessary? That we form the rows correctly and properly just as the

angels do and if we don’t do that we are leaving space for who? For شيطان, we are leaving space for

.شيطان

Has it ever happened that you are sitting in a gathering but what happens? You fall asleep, become

sleepy, why? Because there is no believer sitting next to you right on your side or left on your side.

So what happens? Who’s going to be there? Who’s going to come and sit next to you and make you

tired and lazy and whisper in your ear constantly? شيطان will! Right?

So in صالة also notice the حدث that join your shoulders, meaning don’t even leave any gap between

your arms, fill up that space even. And these kind of rows Allah سبحانه تعالى likes.

13

The Prophetملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said that:

الة “ ن الص مح حسح ف قامة الص ا ن ا

Establishing the row properly, this is from the beauty of the prayer.”

12

This is something that beautifies the صالة. This is something that makes the صالة correct and proper

and perfect and this is something we need to develop not just in prayer but also in the rest of our

lives.

So if we ever see a gap next to us, what is it that we have to do? First of all don’t be a cause of that

gap, all right? Don’t be a cause of that gap and secondly if there is a gap next to us, what should we

do? Fill in that gap, move closer, right? Especially in صالة.

6: Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars

I mean the sky could have been without stars also but Allah decorated it with stars for us to see. It

really shows to us the love that Allah has for His creation and how much Allah wants guidance for

His creation that they look at the sky and they appreciate the sky. I mean if you look at any picture

of the space, any image, they really leave you completely awe-struck that so beautiful!

7: And as protection against every rebellious devil

Meaning these stars, they have a purpose beyond beauty also. And what is that? Protection against

every rebellious devil.

8: [So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side,

9: Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment,

10: Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame,

piercing [in brightness].

Meaning the devils, when they try and go to listen to the conversations of the angels then what

happens? They are pelted with shooting stars; they are pelted with pieces in the sky which appear to

us as stars, why? In order that these شياطني don’t escape, don’t run with that information and spread

that in the world adding their lies and creating chaos in the people of the world.

11: Then inquire of them, [O Prophet], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or

those [others] that We have created?"….

Just compare yourself with any of those celestial bodies up in the sky, who’s stronger, who’s

mightier, who’s bigger? The stars are!

….. Indeed, We created men from sticky clay.

This is our reality!

12: But you wonder, while they mock,

This is what they call the قرأ ن.

16: When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

17: And our forefathers [as well]?"

Those who died centuries ago?

18: Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible."

You will be debased, you will be unable to control your life, your death, your resurrection.

19: It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing.

They will be able to see; they will be back to life.

20: They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense."

Meaning on the Day of Judgement, they will say, “Now we understand!”

21: [They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny."

22: [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and

what they used to worship

Meaning all people who were like them who committed wrong, who committed ك and all those شح

whom they used to worship, gather them all

23: Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire

Meaning anything they worshipped besides Allah, any idol, gather them and take them to hell.

24: And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned."

Page 21: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

They are to be questioned!

25: [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?"

Because you see when a criminal is caught and when his guilt is established, when his punishment is

evident then he gives up. What is he going to do? Is he going to fight, is he going to resist? It’s not

going to help at all! So then they will be asked, “What’s wrong with you, why do you not help each

other?”

Allah says:

26: But they, that Day, are in surrender.

And surrender is what required of us today. Surrender now so that later you are free. But those who

refuse to surrender now they will be forced to surrender then.

27: And they will approach one another blaming each other.

Now what will happen? They will argue with each other; they will blame one another.

28: They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right."

Meaning the followers will say to their leaders that, “You used to lead us astray, you did not leave

us, you would come to us from our right and our left and every direction, you did not leave us!”

29: The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers,

Meaning don’t blame us, it was your choice.

30: And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people.

The fact is that anytime a person does something wrong he has done it with his own decision because

no one can force us. No one can force us if we are unwilling, no one can! And even if they force us,

meaning physically, the heart is free, the mind is free! No one can control our mind, our heart, our

faith and so a person who has faith in his heart and physically he may be oppressed by others,

because he has faith in his heart eventually he will be saved. And greater the struggle the greater the

reward but we cannot blame other people for our actions. We cannot put the blame on others, neither

in this life and of course on the Day of Judgement it will not be accepted.

31: So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment].

32: And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." .... ا غاوي ن كن ا

So here we need to see who is it that are we following.

Page 22: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

33: So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment.

The leaders and the followers together.

34: Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals.

35: Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant

36: And they used to say, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?"

They called the Prophetملسو هيلع هللا ىلص a mad poet.

37: Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers.

How is he a poet? How is he mad?

It will be said:

38: Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment,

Meaning now there is no escape for you.

39: And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do –

This is something we need to remember: ملن ح ما كنتمح تل ن ا زوح وما تح

Because Allah is not unfair, Allah is very just and He only gives to a person what the person is

deserving of.

Meaning they will not be punished. Then where will they be?

Because right now they have to leave their fruit. Like for example you have your delicious fruit, ripe

here; meaning he is willing to even sacrifice his wishes in order to obey Allah that we like something

Meaning the colour will also be beautiful.

….and delicious to those who drink;

Because sometimes what happens is that for instance you might get a drink that tastes delicious but

the colour, it’s just not attractive, it’s just not that appealing.

Like for example the other day, my children, they wanted this drink and it was blue, blue! I’m like,

ok, blueberry flavour, fake unnatural, yes, it tastes really good, yeah but the colour itself was just so

strange that because of the colour I really didn’t enjoy it, I didn’t! It just literally killed the pleasure.

So what happens is that in order to enjoy food there are two things that are necessary, first it must

look good because your eyes enjoy before your mouth enjoys, isn’t that so? So it must look good

and secondly it must also taste good because sometimes looks are very deceiving.

So: اربنيلش ة ل ضاء لذ بيح - the drinks of جن ة, beautiful to look at and also delicious in their taste.

And notice how it is mentioned over here: م هيحطاف عل - It will be circulated.

Meaning in ةج ن a person will not have to go and look for a drink, look for something and then help

himself and then serve himself, no, it will be brought to him, how?

On the authority of Abu Umamah we learn that in جن ة a person will wish for wine, so the pouring

vessel, the container will come in his hand… it will come in his hand and he will drink it and then

the vessel will go away. Meaning when he is done, it will go away.

So this is how جن ة is that all you need to do is just wish. You don’t need to place an order, you don’t

need to explain the order, you don’t have to wait for it and you don’t have to ensure that it is the right

one. All you need to do is just wish and the wish will be fulfilled.

47: No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated.

This is the drink of جن ة. Likewise the food that it will not have any bad effect on a person but in this

world, what happens? You eat, you enjoy the food and then later on you pay for it.

48: And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes,

49: As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected.

Meaning the women in جن ة, beautiful!

50: And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.

51: A speaker among them will say….

Meaning in جن ة a person will say to another person that:

…. "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth]

There was a person who I used to know.

52: Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe

Meaning he used to express amazement at the fact that I believed then he used to say to me:

53: That when we have died and become dust and bones [you think] we will indeed be

recompensed?'"

Really? Indeed, we will be recompensed?

54: He will say….

Meaning that person will be asked…

….. "Would you [care to] look?"

Would you like to see the end of that acquaintance of yours?

55: And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire.

56: He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me.

Page 25: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

Meaning you almost influenced me, I almost listened to you, I was almost affected by what you used

to say to me. And this happens so often that you hear so many things, you read so many things, you

come across so many things that clearly contradict your faith. People are shocked and amazed that

you actually believe in god. They look at you as if you are an alien, “you believe in god?” “Like

really?”.... And these days this is something that has become so common. All you need to do is just

go and sit in the company of certain intellectual people or maybe just watch a lecture or something

and you will be made to feel dumb for the fact that you believe in religion, period! Or that you

believe in god or that you believe in resurrection or that you believe in the Prophetملسو هيلع هللا ىلص or that you

believe that Mohammadملسو هيلع هللا ىلص, yes, he went on ا ساء and معراج. They express amazement,

astonishment and how easy it is to get influenced by such criticism. How easy it is because what do

we learn here? ن كدت ا تهلل

دي قال لتح - You almost ruined me! But المدهلل, Allah saved me.

57: If not for the favour of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell].

Meaning Allah protected me, I was able to remain firm on my faith, I didn’t get influenced by what

you said to me and Allah saved me!

Then he will say:

58: Then, are we not to die

Did we not die? Yes, we died.

59: Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?"

Isn’t this what you used to say that we will not be punished and now what is happening? What is

happening now? Those who reject are going to be in hell.

Allah says:

ظيم :60 ز الح ح ف الح ذا له ن ه .Indeed, this is the great attainment ..… ا

What is the great attainment? That a person makes it to جن ة. This is the great attainment. And a

great success, achievement, we know that it’s not easy. It is really not easy.

Think about how many people go through school and then how many people from them manage to

get into some programme in a university? And then from them, how many is it that actually graduate

with something? And then from those who graduate, how many is that that actually find a job and

have a proper career? We see that as time goes by, the number is also reduced because the struggle

is not easy.

Likewise the path to جن ة is not an easy one, the journey to Paradise is not an easy one. A person can

only get there if he holds on strong to Allah سبحانه تعالى, to the guidance that Allah has revealed

Page 26: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

because there are many, many obstacles, many deviations, many deviators, many people who will try

to stop you from what you are doing, who will try to make you doubt your faith, who will make you

feel that you are wrong in striving for the أ خرة. So the person who really makes it to ةج ن , Allah says:

this is the great attainment

And this is why every day we need to ask Allah, when we pray: تقيم مسح اط الح دن الص in prayer, that اهح

“O Allah guide me to the straight path.” Really ask that consciously that, “O Allah guide me, keep

me guided” because there are so many errors on the way, so many obstacles, so many deviations.

املن :61 مل الح ح ي ذا فلح ل ه .For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work .…لمثح

Meaning whatever we do in our lives, we should be aiming for جن ة that whatever we are doing we

should be doing it to get جن ة, to have Allah سبحانه تعالى happy with us. This should be our ultimate

goal that “Ya Allah whatever I’m doing I’m doing it to please you, you be pleased with me.”

Allah questions us; He says:

62: Is paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum?

What is better? The home in paradise the نل, the entertainment that Allah has prepared for its

dwellers in جن ة or the tree of Zaqqum. What is Zaqqum?

14

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said that:

“If one drop of Zaqqum were to fall down on earth it would make the lives of the dwellers of the

earth bitter. So what do you think of the one for whom there is no food except for Zaqqum”.

Meaning everything would become bitter. You would not taste a thing except that it would be bitter,

it would be affected by the flavor of Zaqqum

ل :63 نةا ل ناها فتح لح ن ج المني ا ظ ….Indeed, we have made it a Torment for the wrongdoers.

Meaning it has been created for the purpose of punishment.

64: Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of hell fire.

65: Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.

Meaning prickly, thorny and scary to look at, ugly.

66: And indeed they will eat from it and will fill their bellies with it.

67: Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of burning hot scalding water.

68: Then indeed their return will be to the hell fire.

Meaning back to the fire after their meal.

69: Indeed, they found their forefathers astray.

70: So they hasten to follow in their footsteps.

Meaning they found their forefathers astray and without even thinking, they followed their ancestors.

They didn't question they didn't wonder that what is the truth. That if there is something that's very

common in our culture, where did this come from? Is this something from the religion from the قرأ ن and from the ة

ن or something that people invented?

71: And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,

72: And We had already sent among them warners.

73: Then look how was the end of those who were warned.

لصني :74 مخح الح عباد هللا ل .But not the chosen servants of Allah .… ا

Meaning Allah saved them. Allah saved them. Why? Because of their اخالص. Allah chose them

why? Because they chose Allah, they made themselves sincere for Allah. May Allah grant us this

kind of اخالص also.

مجيبن :75 م الح ح ..…ولقدح ندان نح فلن

Now the examples of those who were chosen by Allah are given.

And Nuh had certainly called us, and we are the best of responders.

Meaning we responded to the دعا of Nuh. So Allah is the one who responds to the prayers of His

servants. So what do we need to do? We need to call upon Allah also. Do we ask people to help us?

Quite a lot. It could be something very small even. “Please can you wake me up for Sahoor.” Isn’t

it? We ask people for help for little, little things. “Can you show me how to get to this place?”

Right? We ask people for little, little things and also big things. But who is the best of all those who

respond? Allah سبحانه تعالى

Meaning whoever is able to make the دعا that the gates of mercy have been opened for him. Because

everybody knows we should make دعا but how many people actually make دعا? Like for example

when it comes to breaking the fast, that is the best time of making دعا but how many people actually

benefit from that time and really make دعا, ask Allah for what they need? Usually what is it that

we're doing at that time? Talking, chatting, just looking, staring, preparing food still, setting up the

table, doing those last minute things. That is the time of making دعا but we don't use these moments.

So the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“Whoever of you the door of supplication is open for him, then the doors of mercy have indeed been

opened for him. And Allah is not asked for anything more beloved to him than being asked for

افية ”.…الح

Meaning the best thing that Allah like that he should be asked for عافية. what is عافية? Well-being,

safety. This is something that Allah loves when a servant asks for. And the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“….The supplication benefits against that which strikes and that which does not strike, so hold fast

O worshippers of Allah to دعا”

Never give up making دعا always, always make دعا!

Ibrahim السالمعليه was also of his type. How was he of his type? Nuh السالمعليه was truly a servant of

Allah. He made دعا to Allah and Ibrahim السالمعليه , what did he do? He also made دعا to Allah.

84: When he came to his Lord with a sound heart.

85: And when he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?

86: Is it falsehood as gods other than Allah that you desire?

87: Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?”

88: And he cast a look at the stars.

89: And said, “Indeed, I am ill.”

Meaning he said this to his people that, “I am ill.”

90: So they turned away from him, departing.

Meaning they left him. They didn't take him along with them because they were going for some

festival and Ibrahim عليه السالم, he was also required to go along with them but he wanted to stay

behind so that he could break the idols. And he happened to be sick at that time so he really took

advantage of that.

So they turned away from him departing.

91: Then he turned to their gods and he said, “Do you not eat?

92: What is wrong with you that you do not speak?”

93: And he turned upon them a blow with his right hand.

94: And then the people came toward him hastening.

Meaning when they returned and they saw their idols broken immediately they went to Ibrahim.

.…Then the people came toward him hastening.

95: He said to them “Do you worship that which you (yourselves) carve,

Page 31: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

96: While Allah created you and that which you do?”

97: They said, “Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire.”

98: And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased.

Meaning their plan failed. They couldn't burn Ibrahim عليه السالم, they could not harm him because

Allah protected him.

You know what's interesting over here, Ibrahim معليه السال did not go to the festival. And what was the

excuse that he gave over there? “I am sick.” Perhaps he was actually sick. Allahu Aalam, maybe he

was. And if he was sick look he's too sick to go to a festival but he has all the strength in him to

break the idols. So we need to see that when is it that I feel strong and energetic and where is it that I

feel unwell and lethargic and tired and dead.

What happens when I have to go to a party? What happens? You know like for example when

people have to go for an فطار !somewhere then what happens? They’ve got all the energy in them ا

But when we have to go for Taraweeh, then what happens? Where does our energy go? Isn’t it

amazing that we’ll go for فطار فطار and then after ا we will leave the Masjid. It's amazing we will ا

leave the Masjid. ين this is shocking!

It's understandable that if a person has little children or somebody sick at home or you know

something like that, that's understandable that a person has to go. But is this correct that a person has

all the energy when it comes to enjoying themselves when it comes to bodily pleasures but when it

comes to worshipping Allah سبحانه تعالى then we're like dead and we're lethargic and we've got no

energy in ourselves. So we really need to check who's ةن do we want to follow; do we want to

follow the ةن of Ibrahim عليه السالم or do we want to follow the ة

ن of the نفس. Right? And what is

ةن of نفس? That it: ء ارة بلس م

It orders a person to do evil. And you know what, it's all in your - ل

mind sometimes. شيطان the نفس makes you feel that you have no energy. But what happens? Once

you start, then what happens? You have the energy; you get the strength. This is just like before صالة,

what happens? You're tired, you can barely open your eyes but all you need to do is just make

yourself stand and say ب ب And once you say .هللا اکح .صالة then you're in the هللا اکح

Because remember that: بح مع الص ٳن الن صح - Helps comes with patience. Meaning we have to be patient

first and then the help of Allah will also come.

هيحدي :99 ل رب ذاهب ا

Ibrahim said, “Indeed, I will go to where I am ordered.… وقال

Page 32 ربنا تقبل منا

You see they tried to burn him, it didn't work. They said leave or else you will be killed. So he had

to leave but when he leaves he says, “I’m going to my Lord. I'm going to my Lord.”

Imagine somebody’s been thrown out and they're saying yeah, “I’m going, I am going.” You see

how the negative is just instantly turned into something positive. He could have been saying right

now, “O you're throwing me out!” No, he says, “I am going to my Lord.” Meaning, ‘You can't harm

me, you really cannot harm me.’

You see the prophets of the Allah, they underwent such great trials and tests in their live; loss and

pain and hardship but look at how every prophet of Allah converted the negative in his life into

something so positive. They said, “Leave!” He said, “I’m going to my Rabb, I'm not alone.”

Just like Ibn Taimiyyah, when the people said that, “They're planning to kill you.” Or, “They're

planning to expel you, you’re going to be expelled from the city.” He said, “What can my enemies

do to me? If they kill me that would be شهادة, if they expel me, I'll get to travel and if they imprison

me, I'll have privacy. And that is all I want.”

Because for a believer remember that a believer enjoys the times that he is all alone. He enjoys those

moments when he's all alone. Why? Because then he can really talk to Allah and reflect on himself.

Really connect with Allah سبحانه تعالى. But what happens with us many times is that we find more

comfort in talking to people than talking to Allah.

Malik bin Dinar said; “Whoever does not find delight in the speech of Allah and instead finds it in

the speech of people then surely his knowledge has taken a plunge, his heart has become blind and

his life has become wasted.”

Who? The person who does not find delight in the speech of Allah. He doesn't find delight in those

moments of loneliness with Allah. But rather he's always craving company of people, socialization.

This means that the heart has become blind and the life is getting wasted.

Ibrahim السالمعليه said:

الني :100 رب هبح ل م الص

You see the prophets, when they're mentioned their Du’as are also mentioned. And this really shows

to us that more than anything what we need to do is ‘Trust on Allah’ and ask Him for what we need.

Just fix our attention to Allah and say, “Ya Allah! I want this and I want it from you!” Be firm!

My Lord grant me a child from among the righteous.

He didn't say, ‘I just want a child, any child, I’m desperate, anything!’ No, he says, ‘A righteous

child.’

What happens is that when our Du’as are not being accepted or immediately responded to, we lower

the standard of our Du’as. Like for example, if a person wants to get married they say, “Ya Allah,

grant me a good righteous spouse.” And when it's not working out, “Anybody, anybody, anything!”

No, don’t say that! I mean that's when your conviction in Allah is being tested that with what

Page 33: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

Page 33 ربنا تقبل منا

determination you ask Allah and perhaps what you need to do over there is ask Allah for something

even better, even more specific that you really need to know what you want. Look at how Ibrahim

السالمعليه knew exactly what he wanted: الني رب هبح ل م الص

101: So We gave him good tidings of forbearing boy.

And this didn't happen that he made دعا and instantly his دعا was answered. No, his دعا was

responded to after many, many, many years, many years. Which means that دعا was accepted, he

was just given a righteous child after some time.

And remember that when we make دعا ,دعا is accepted because دعا is an action that is accepted when

it's made with sincerity, with sincerity with اخالص it's accepted. Definitely accepted! Now it is up to

Allah what He gives us, when, how, how much; that is His decision. So never, ever stop making دعا for what you want. Increase in making دعا. And look at the quality of Ismail عليه السالم that's given

here: م حليم غال

Of a boy that would be tolerant, forbearing, calm, composed, patient, understanding. And this is a

big deal because generally who is calm and quiet, girls or boys? Generally girls are as they grow

older. When they're little different story completely but as they grow older, who is it that learns to

really control themselves typically? It's the girls. Generally, boys, they're given that freedom and

that's also our fault, that we give them that freedom.

For example, if there are two teenage kids at home, the boy is allowed to go and party with his

friends and go to the mall and the girl is not allowed. Is that fair? That's not fair at all!

You should have the same rules for all your children regardless of their gender. I mean, yes there are

certain things which are appropriate for boys and certain things which are appropriate for girls, that's

understandable. But when it comes to certain restrictions, we have to be fair. Because we're sending,

you know, mixed messages across to children and this is really unfair.

You know so many young girls that come and complain to me about this, that, “My brother has all

the freedom that he wants and I’m not allowed. My brother can go with his friends and if I go for

half an hour my mother is upset with me and she gave me permission in the first place but then she

gets upset with me.” Is that fair? Either allow your children, all of them, girls and boys, or don't

allow them. خالص! Simple! But we have to be fair.

Anyway: م حليمالسالمعليه So Ismail - غال as a boy, forbearing, obedient, compliant, understanding.

م ح نه بغال ح ليم فبش

And how was his حلحم really demonstrated, Allah says:

102: And when he reached with him the age of exertion….

Meaning when Ismail عليه السالم grew up and he was still a boy who could run around, he had some

physical strength. So perhaps he was thirteen years of age.

Page 34: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

Juzz # 23 2015 فهم القرأ ن

Page 34 ربنا تقبل منا

….He said, “O my son, Indeed, I have seen in a dream that I must sacrifice you, so see what

you think.”

The dreams of the prophets are revelation, command from Allah. So in it he was being commanded

to sacrifice Ismail عليه السالم. So he asks his son, “What do you think? And this is also something

very important that we need to do. Please let us not order our children ask them, discuss with them.

Let them decide. This doesn't mean that we let them choose to do حرام. But what this means is that

from the beginning, discuss things with them so that they willingly choose to do what they want to

do. Don't just order them around because when we order children around, they develop resentment

for the parents. They're always on the opposite side, other side and they don't want to listen to their

parents.

So we see over here such a big thing and Ibrahim عليه السالم says…. I mean this is Allah’s حمك by the

way, Ibrahim عليه السالم doesn’t have an option, Ismail سالمعليه ال doesn't have an option, this is Allah’s

ى :says عليه السالم Ismail has to be slaughtered. But yet, Ibrahim ,حكم فانظرح ماذا ت

This is Allah’s order, see what you think? What do you say? What should be done? And if a father

has been treating his son like this from the beginning, hearing the child out also; what do you think,

what do you have in mind, discussing with them, then what do you expect from such a child?

….He said, “O my father, do as you are commanded…. Do as you are commanded…. You will

find me. if Allah, of the steadfast.”

Now this is his حلحم. This was the tolerance the composure of Ismail السالمعليه . He’s not crying and

screaming over here, “My life, your religion, your Prophet hood is taking over my life! What about

me, my choices?” No, look at his حلحم over here.

You see sometimes we complain that, “O we’re so busy, we don't have time to talk to our children”

Ibrahim عليه السالم was so busy that he didn't even live with Ismail عليه السالم. He didn't. He only came

to visit a couple of times. Who was really doing the تبية? It was the mother. And the brief moments

that Ibrahim عليه السالم got to spend with Ismail عليه السالم, it really shows how he was, that

Ismail عليه السالم trusted his father. He didn't dislike his father.

Our problem is we exist in the same space but we don't communicate with each other. We don't

really have strong relationships even inside the house. We don't take interest in the lives of one

another.

You know for example a little girl, she's got nail polish on and she's trying to show it and everybody

is just lost in their phones or the mother is busy cooking; ignoring children. We don't even notice

these little, little things that are very important to children. So even if it's little time that we get to

spend with our children it better be quality time. It better be quality time in which we establish trust,

105: You have fulfilled the vision.” Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

In حدث we learn that when Ibrahim عليه السالم lay Ismail عليه السالم on his forehead, Ismail عليه السالم

was wearing a white shirt at that time. A white upper garment. And he said, “Oh my father I do not

have another shirt in which you could bury me so when you're about to slaughter me remove this

shirt from me, so that you can shroud me in it.”

So Ibrahim عليه السالم reached forward to remove the shirt so that it wouldn't get stained by blood.

And when he reached out he was called out from behind that, “O Ibrahim you have fulfilled your

dream.” And when he looked back there was a white, big horned, big eyed sheep standing over there

and Ibrahim عليه السالم slaughtered that.

And in this is a message for us also because many times we’re afraid to make a sacrifice for the sake

of Allah سبحانه تعالى. We are not asked to sacrifice our children. Sometimes it's our ego; what we

like, what we are attached to, what we love, what we are very fond of, we have to give that up so that

we can do something else in its place but we’re hesitant. But what does this incident show to us?

That it's all about that test do you pass in the test or not because Allah will not deprive you. Ibrahim

but he عليه السالم after this test. Isn't it? He didn't lose Ismail عليه السالم still had Ismail عليه السالم

passed the test.

And likewise, for instance when we have to give up our sleep it's not like we're not going to ever

sleep again. We'll make up that sleep later on somehow. It'll come but the question is that right now

What does this show to us? That تسبيح ,تسبيح is coming again. You see so many times in the قرأ ن we

If Yunus عليه السالم did not do تسبيح what would happen? He would remain in the fish until the Day

So likewise, we cannot get out of our problems until and unless we revive the remembrance of Allah

Allah especially تسبيح. 16

….and be patient over [the defence of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended.

This is a thing intended, meaning there is something fishy over here. The real intention of

Muhammad ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص is something else. Meaning he's not really concerned about telling us about the

truth, he wants to destroy us it's a plot to destroy us to gain superiority over us. They said:

7: We have not heard of this in the latest religion….

Meaning what we have always been upon we've never heard about this that there is only one god.

….This is not but a fabrication.

8: Has the message been revealed to him out of (all of) us?”

Meaning if it had to come it should have come up on a rich man, a wealthy man. Why Muhammad

:Allah says ?ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص

…. Rather they are in doubt about my message.

These are all excuses. The real problem is that if they truly understood the message they would have

believed, they would have believed in Muhammad ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص. The fact is that they haven't understood the

message and since they haven't understood it this is why they're coming up with one excuse after

another, one objection after another.

….Rather they have not tasted my punishment.

And this is why they're not even bothering to pay attention. This is why they're so heedless.

9: Or do they have the depositories of the mercies of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the

Bestower?

Meaning do they decide when and how much rain should fall? No, so why should they decide who

the prophet hood should be bestowed upon.

10: Or is their the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what is between them?....

What do they own? Are they the masters or the servants? They are the servants!

…. Then let them ascend through [any] ways of access.

Meaning show us your might if you've got any.

This is extreme foolishness that a person demands punishment in this life.

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص was comforted over here:

17: Be patient over what they say….

“Be patient over what they say” so important to remember because you cannot change the speech of

other people nor can you put a seal on their mouths nor can you forcibly change their opinions about

you but what you can do is be patient over what they say. Be patient over what you have to hear.

And what is it that the people said about the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص all of these يتأ that we have read earlier

that, is he the only one? His intention is something else. And people will question your intentions

that he's a magician, that he's a liar. Allah says be patient over what they say.

د ح دن داوود ذا الح كرح عبح ;And remember our servant Dawood, the possessor of strength ..… واذح

Indeed, he was one who repeatedly turned back to Allah.

Take a lesson from Dawood عليه السالم. Dawood عليه السالم who was he? An ordinary man.

Remember! He was in the army under Talut. He killed Jaloot and Allah gave Dawood عليه السالم

Prophet hood and also kingship. What was he before? An ordinary person from the Bani Israel but

Allah chose him. So Allah can choose whoever he wants because sometimes people say, ‘Who are

you? What are you? What have you done? Look at your past what have you accomplished? You are

nothing!’

Page 46: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

They ridicule you, they look down on you but the fact is that Allah can choose whoever He wants for

whatever blessing that He wants to give to that servant. So Allah chose Dawood عليه السالم also and

till today we see that there are people who refuse to believe that Dawood عليه السالم was a prophet.

Like for example the Yahood and Nasaara, they believe that he was a king but they don't believe that

he was a prophet. Till today he's rejected. So Muhammad ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص, yes he was rejected, Allah says

remember Dawood: اب و ه أ ن ا - He used to turn back to Allah repeatedly.

Always, every now and then, again and again he would think about Allah, he would talk to Allah, he

would worship Allah, he would praise Allah and this is something that brings comfort to the heart.

That when you are disturbed, when you're upset, when you're hurt, when you're rejected, no matter

what's going on in your life, turning back to Allah is something that will bring نينة ح comfort and - طأ

assurance to your heart.

18: Indeed, We subjected the mountains [to praise] with him, exalting [Allah] in the [late]

afternoon and [after] sunrise [also]

So these two times Dawood عليه السالم would do تسبيح. And the mountains would join him.

19: And the birds were assembled all with him repeating praises.

So what should we do at this time morning and evening? We should also do تسبيح. 19

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“The reciting of the زوبر was made so easy for Dawood عليه السالم that he used to order that his riding

animals be saddled

[Meaning they should be prepared and it takes a couple minutes it takes some time to get them ready]

and he would finish reciting the زوبر before they were saddled and he would never eat except from

the earnings of his manual work”.

You see the thing is we think ذكر is going to take a long time. “تسبيح in the morning, O hundred

times, I'm so tired I’m so sleepy, today I can’t do it” Right? But the one who tries Allah سبحانه تعالى

makes it easy for him. Dawood السالمعليه would recite the entire زوبر in how much time? In the time

that his horses would be prepared, that's it!

And really, I mean it takes a few minutes but it doesn't take hours to prepare horses for riding.

Because in the morning they're awake before you, they're ready to gallop before you are ready to go

on them. Right? So it would take few minutes. And literally sometimes all you need to do is just

make yourself sit down or tell yourself that, “Now I’m going to walk and I’m going to do my تسبيح a

hundred times on my fingers.” And you just have to start, develop the habit and Allah will facilitate

this for you that before you know it a hundred will be done, before you know it, you will be done

with one تسبيح after the other. But you have to start, you have to develop the habit and unless you do

brings, and this is what brings ربكة in your life also. And especially when we're stressed out when

there's so much work to do then what happens what's the first thing we could leave? ذكر, thinking that

perhaps two minutes will bring us extra time. No, it will not bring us extra time.

Recently I was reading an article about chefs that how we try to learn a lot from chefs in terms of

how they cook and what they prepare but we also need to learn from chefs their habit of preparing

their ‘Mise En Place.’ ‘Mise En Place’ is basically getting everything ready before you start cooking.

Like for example, for a three-hour dinner service Chefs will start preparing six hours in advance. Six

hours of prep…… Prep…. Prep time. Why? So that when you have to cook everything is within

your reach. Invest those six hours to make these three hours productive.

You’re women, you know exactly what I’m talking about. If before cooking you don't have

everything in place what's going to happen? What's going to happen? Before you can find the tongs

to turn over your food what's going to happen? It's burnt, isn't it? So before you put the food on the

pan, what do you need on the side? Your tongs have to be there. If you start chopping your

tomatoes when you have to put them in the dish what's going to happen? The onions are going to

burn. You have to have them ready from before. ذكر is of exact same importance. You have to do ذكر from before. You have to reorient yourself, you have to focus yourself, you have to discipline

yourself, you have to prepare yourself and for that preparation the most important is the preparation

of the heart and that comes with the ذكر of Allah سبحانه تعالى and that requires time. It requires time.

20: And We strengthened his kingdom. And gave him wisdom and discernment in speech.

21: And has there come to you then use of the adversaries, when they climbed over the wall

Meaning Dawood عليه السالم, when he was worshipping Allah in his prayer place and what happened

two people jumped over the wall in order to ask him about some dispute of theirs.

22: When they entered upon David and he was alarmed by them? They said, "Fear not. [We

are] two adversaries, one of whom has wronged the other, so judge between us with truth and

do not exceed [it] and guide us to the sound path.

23: Indeed this, my brother has ninety-nine ewes [sheep] And I have one sheep; so he said;

“Give her to me and he overpowered me in speech.”

24: Dawood (عليه السالم) said, “He has certainly wronged you in demanding your sheep. In

addition to his sheep. And indeed many associates oppress one another, except for those who

believe and do righteous deeds and very few are they.” …..

Now as Dawood عليه السالم said this.

…. And Dawood became certain that We had tried him, and he asked forgiveness of his Lord

and fell down bowing [in prostration] and turned in repentance [to Allah].

25: So We forgave him that; and indeed, for him is nearness to us and a good place of return.

Meaning on the Day of Judgment, Dawood عليه السالم will be a ب servant of Allah. Now we see مقر

over here that Dawood عليه السالم was brought this case when he was engaged in عبادة. And what

happened here, meaning this case that was brought to him and the answer that he gave, the verdict

that he gave, this reminded that Dawood عليه السالم of a previous case in which he had made a

mistake. Now what exactly was Allahu Aalam but what happened right now reminded him of his

past mistake. So immediately upon realizing his past mistake Dawood عليه السالم, he sought

forgiveness from Allah and he repented.

This is the believer that even if after ten years he realizes “I was wrong, I made a mistake, I shouldn’t

have done this, I shouldn’t have behaved in that way, I shouldn't have said that, I shouldn’t have

treated my children like that this morning, I shouldn’t have been like that with my husband two

weeks ago” Right? When a person realizes, “I made a mistake” Then what does he do? A Believer,

he immediately turns to Allah begging His forgiveness, repenting to Allah.

And you see, sometimes, this is a huge blessing from Allah that we see something happen, and it

makes us realize our mistakes. We remember our mistakes because of what we see. Nobody's

coming to us and telling us you should not have spoken to your husband like that, but what happens?

What happens? You read an article and in that something is mentioned that reminds you of how you

speak. Or for instance, somebody else brings a case to you seeking your advice and then that

reminds you of your own mistakes. Something happens in your life, you don't even realize you made

a serious mistake. You go and listen to قرأ ن and you feel as if the يتأ are about you. This is a

blessing from Allah when our mistakes are pointed out in a way that only we see them, only we

recognize them, people around us don't even know. Allah conceals our mistakes from others, He

only makes us recognize and understand them. So this is a huge blessing and this is for what

purpose? So that we turn back to Allah.

Dawood عليه السالم fell in prostration, in ركع thanking Allah, that thank you Allah for letting me see

my sins so that I could leave it, and I could repent to you and this is of the ways of the righteous that

when they receive a blessing from Allah what do they do? They prostrate to Allah and this أ ة is also

an أ ة of sajdah.

tree and I heard the tree reciting Surat Saad…. [This was in his dream, I mean in a dream anything

can happen, right? So he said I heard in my dream this tree reciting Surat Saad].…. And when it

reached this أ ة the recitation of this أ ة the tree fell in prostration. And it said:

the way you accepted from your servant Dawood.”

So the tree said this. Now Abu Sayeed al Khudri رضي هللا عنه, he said, when I woke up I went to the

Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص and I told him, he said:

“O Abu Sayeed, did you also do Sajdah?

Meaning when you heard the tree reciting and when you saw the tree prostrating did you also do it.

Abu Sayeed said, “No, I didn't.” The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said,

“You are more worthy of doing Sujood than that tree”

You should have. And then the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص recited Surat Saad and when he reached this أ ة then he

prostrated and I too prostrated.

So these verses basically, they illustrate to us the gratitude of Dawood عليه السالم that it was so

uncontrollable that immediately he fell into Sujood and the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص also did that that when he

would receive a blessing that really made him glad he performed Sujood of Ash-Shukr and this is

something that we can also do.

This is something that we need to mark for ourselves “If you follow your desire it will lead you

astray. It will not let you remain on Allah’s path”.

….Indeed, those who go astray from the way of the Allah will have a severe punishment for

having forgotten the day of Account.

Because when a person pursues his desire then he forgets أ خرة and when he’ll forget the أ خرة then he

will do wrong and this will ultimately lead him to punishment.

This is the purpose of the Book of Allah that it is meant to be recited, it is meant to be reflected on,

understood, acted upon. And how is it possible that we benefit from the book of Allah if we don't

even open it? We have to open it, we have to read it; we have to know its meanings. And not just

learn its meanings but also reflect on the قرأ ن. We think that studying the قرأ ن is a goal and once we

have completed the study of Suratun Naas, you know Al-Fatihah to An-Naas we've done our duty to

the قرأ ن. No, it has just begun because now we can actually reflect on the قرأ ن. Because once we

know the meaning then we can reflect as we listen to it, as we read it.

30: And to Dawood we gave Sulaiman. An excellent servant….

And notice how at the end of the previous أ ة Allah says: باب لحول الح

ر أ وليتذك - so the intelligent

one is the one who remembers the Book. He remembers the Book in his mind, on his tongue, in his

actions.

And to Dawood we gave Sulaiman. An excellent servant, indeed he was one repeatedly

Returning back [to Allah].

31: Mention when there were exhibited before him in the afternoon the poised standing

racehorses……

Meaning in the evening his horses were brought to him, displayed before him so that he could see

them. The horses were made to march in front of him. And he said:

32: Indeed, I have love these good things for the remembrance of my Lord….

Meaning the more I look at these things, the more I remember Allah. I love this wealth for the sake

of Allah. Why? Because these horses when I look at them they increase me in gratitude to Allah.

They increase me in remembrance of Allah.

Page 51: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

Page 51 ربنا تقبل منا

So here we need to see that what is it which grows in me my love for Allah سبحانه تعالى because

Sulaiman عليه السالم, he is growing in his remembrance of Allah by just looking at the things that he

likes, his horses.

جاب حارتح بل ت

.Until the horses galloped away going out of sight .… تح

Meaning they galloped away, until they were out of sight. And what happened? Sulaiman عليه السالم is

admiring them, remembering Allah, increasing in his remembrance of Allah.

33: He said, “Return them to me,” and he set about passing his hand over their legs and

necks.

Meaning over their legs and the necks of those horses, admiring them, and this is also interpreted in a

different way the details of which انشاء هللا will keep for another time. But the lesson we learn over

there is that the blessings that Allah has given to us do they connect us to Allah or do they disconnect

us from Allah? Things will always be a part of life, the things that we like, the things that we enjoy,

the people that we love, the things that we love to look at, we love to use, they will always be part of

life. They should be a means of drawing closer to Allah, not a means of forgetting Allah.

34: نا ع قيح لحن وأ لميح ا نب ولقدح فتن

ا ثم أ ه جسدا ي كرح ….And We certainly tried Sulaiman

and placed on his throne a body; then he returned.

35: He said, “O my Lord, forgive me. And grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to any

one after me. Indeed, you are the Bestower.”

So on Sulaiman عليه السالم’s throne, his chair what happened? A body was placed on it. What was

that body? Allahu Aalam. This has been interpreted in different ways. But again what we see here

is that by looking at that body Sulaiman عليه السالم realized his own mistake. Whatever that body was

he found something on his chair and because of that he recognized his mistake now the details of that

body Allah has not told us about. But what He has told us about is the fact that Sulaiman عليه السالم

remembered his mistake.

And this is true for us also; things happen in our life the details don't really matter. What matters is

do we reflect on our actions? And do we remember and notice and recognize our mistakes? Are we

that honest with ourselves that we recognize our mistakes? Because sometimes children tell us about

our mistakes; the way they speak in front of us, they remind us of how we speak, the way they

behave reminds us of how we behave. This is something that should really make us repent to Allah

and that is what Sulaiman عليه السالم did, that is what Dawood (عليه السالم) did previously also.

And then Sulaiman عليه السالم prayed to Allah he said, ‘O Allah grant me a kingdom, a kingdom that

is so unique that it will not be given to anyone after me. Indeed, you are ه اب ’.الح

himself and he made دعا and Allah, look at the avenues that Allah opened up for him that the wind is

subjected to him.

torment that constantly bad thoughts negative thoughts come to me. So what happened?

42: So He was told “Strike the ground with your foot; this is a spring for a cool bath and

Meaning here's your شفاء, here's your cure, right under your foot. And what is it? Water. And

Page 53: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

that we don't see it? Why is it that we don't benefit from it? Because Allah سبحانه تعالى had not willed

at that time.

Because you see sometimes you have your prescription you have your medication. You are having it

but it's not benefiting you it's not helping you. Why? Because we are being taught that the

medication is not the cure. The cure comes from who? Allah سبحانه تعالى! Because if Allah wishes to

cure you, your cure could come from literally beneath your foot and it could come from something as

simple as water. And what do we think that the cure, the solution to our problems has to be

something, you know so complicated and detailed and all of that. I mean this is simple شفاء. Ayyub

was sick for over eighteen years according to some reports. Eighteen years he suffered عليه السالم

physically a physical disease. So much so that his family left him, his children, his wife left him,

eventually. And his friends, his acquaintances abandoned him. He lost his property, he lost his

children, they died, imagine. And what was the cure in? Water under his foot, simple, because شفاء

comes from who? Allah, solution comes from who? Allah سبحانه تعالى!

So before we look around seeking what is it that I can use, what is it that can benefit me, the first

thing we need to do is ask Allah. Reach out to Him.

43: And We granted him his family and the like number with them as mercy from Us and a

reminder for those of understanding.

44: We said, “And take in your hand a bunch of grass and strike with it and do not break

your oath”…..

Because he had sworn an oath when he was sick that if he were to get better he would strike his wife

with a hundred lashes. He must have been angry with her over something. So he was told. Just take

a bunch of grass and strike her with that, but don't break your oath.

You see there is no limit to Allah treasures. Just we are being tested; what is our faith in Him, what

is our hope and Him, what do we expect from Allah that is the real treasure. It is with patience, it is

with hope, reliance on Allah, faith in Allah, Allah will open the gates of His blessings when you

remain hopeful, when you remain firm on your principles. So in the meantime what is it that we need

to do? Keep avoiding حرام until Allah opens the حالل for us. But what do we do? We become

impatient and we reach out for the حرام. Does it ever happen that when you're stopped at a traffic

light and you're like, “When is it going to turn green?” The moment you think that is when it turns

Meaning the footsteps a person takes to a Jama’ah. Does that remind you of an incident? That when

a man who had committed a hundred murders, remember, he was on his way to do تبة and what

happened? He died, so then groups of angels came and there was a dispute over there. The angels

who take the evil soul, they said, “No, for us.” And the angels who take the good soul, they said,

So there was a dispute over there. So you see the angels, they dispute about these things. ‘How much

reward should be assigned and what should be written, and what should be erased and how many

footsteps is it that should be recorded for a servant.’

What does this show to us? The concern of the angels; how much the angels like the believer also.

83: Except, among them, Your chosen servants."

84: [Allah] said, "The truth [is My oath], and the truth I say –

85: [That] I will surely fill Hell with you and those of them that follow you all together."

So you see in the قرأ ن many times we come across verses that say that, ‘Allah’s word has come into

effect.’ This is the word that when شيطان, Iblees, challenged that, “I will take all people to hell.”

Allah said, “Fine: ق ح فال

قل

أ ق حوال - this is so and the truth I say, that if you do take people with you,

then it doesn’t matter how many there are, I will fill you and those who follow you with Hell, all of

you!”

88: And you will surely know [the truth of] its information after a time."

Meaning very soon you will come to know the reality of this life, the next life, the ultimate outcome

of this matter.

Now what we see over here the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص is told to say, “Tell them, I am not of the pretentious.”

Meaning I am not fake, this is who I am in front of you.

And this is something that we also need to adopt, that we should be ‘ourselves’. ‘Be yourself,’

because a person can display something, you know, what he is actually not, but this is not long

lasting, it is not enduring. It’s in fact very exhausting. So what we need to do is that, we need to fix

ourselves because sometimes we say, “O, you know what I am very loud and rude, that’s just who I

am, accept me!” No, no, no! we have to fix ourselves.

The problem comes when? In one situation, we are very rude and loud and in another situation we

become so polite, so polite and nice and kind that people would never think that we ever raise our

voice even. This is what we need to avoid and what we really need to do is to bring about a true

change in ourselves. All right.

RECITATION(1 - 4)

In The Name Of Allah, The Entirely Merciful, The Especially Merciful.

يم :1 حززي ال الح تاب م هللا

The revelation of the Qur'an is from Allah, the .… تزنل الح

Exalted in Might, the Wise.

2: Indeed, We have sent down to you the Book in truth. So worship Allah, [being] sincere to

Him in religion.

3: Unquestionably, for Allah is the pure religion….

Meaning worship is exclusively for Allah, why? Because He gave you all that you have. So all you

should be doing is only for Allah.

…. And those who take protectors besides Him [say], "We only worship them that they may

bring us nearer to Allah in position."….

Whether it was the ار of Makkah or the modern Mushrikeen, whoever it may be, this is the كف

justification that is given for ك that “Those whom we pray to besides Allah, those whose pleasure شح

we seek, why is that so? We please them and through them we please Allah.” “We hold on to them,

these righteous, why? In order to reach Allah” This is what opens the door to ك This is what .شح

opens the door for ك ك this in reality ,شح :Allah says .شح

…. Indeed, Allah will judge between them concerning that over which they differ. Indeed,

Allah does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever.

Because to say that a person is alive in their grave or to say that a person listens to our Du’as. This is

a lie! How do we know?

ا :4 خذ ولدا ن ت أ راد هللا

ح أ If Allah had intended to take a son, He could have chosen from.… ل

what He creates whatever He willed….

He could have done that!

Page 61: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

….. Exalted is He; He is Allah, the One, the Prevailing.

Meaning He does not have a child. If He really needed a child, why would He make a human being

a child? Because human beings compared to the rest of the creations, what are they? What are we?

We are so weak! So Weak! I mean just compare your strength to that of a cheetah even. I mean

who is better than us? Angels are, isn’t it? So what is being said over here is that if Allah really

intended to take a son, he would have chosen from what He creates. And the fact is that creation will

not be a child then. You don’t create your own child. And Allah is the only god, is none like Him.

So if He would intend to have a child that too would be a creation and creation cannot be a child. So

do you understand how it’s being refuted that it’s not possible that Allah would have a child because

everything is in His control. Ultimate power rests with Him and everything besides Him is creation.

So stop ascribing children to Him!

5: He created the heavens and earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and wraps the

day over the night….

You see this word wrap, ‘ ر ’ this is very interesting. You know when you cover, for example a

bowl with like saran wrap or something, with plastic wrap or foil, what do you do? You take it from

one side and you bring it to the other. And just like that night, it comes from one side and just

overtakes the entire horizon. Day comes from one side and overtakes the entire horizon.

….. and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running [its course] for a specified term.

Unquestionably, He is the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver.

We get so used to night and day that we don’t even think this is happening by Allah’s will, we don’t

even think about that. And this is why we complain sometimes “O over here, days are so long,

nights are so short” or the exact opposite in other parts of the year. I mean this is who’s

determination, who’s decree? Allah’s decree, He decides this. And there is reason.

6: He created you from one soul. Then He made from it its mate, and He produced for you

from the grazing livestock eight mates….

Meaning eight males and females and four pairs basically that you enjoy, that you eat - Sheep, goat,

cow, camel.

….. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation, within three

darknesses. That is Allah, your Lord; to Him belongs dominion. There is no deity except Him,

so how are you averted?

If He is the only one who created you, how could you turn to other than Him? How could you forget

Him?

7: If you disbelieve - indeed, Allah is Free from need of you. And He does not approve for His

servants disbelief. And if you are grateful…. ح

ضه لمك روا يح ن تشح ;He approves it for you ..…وا

and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return,

Page 62: Lesson 23: Ya-Sin 13-83 - Al-Zumar 1-31 PART-A YA-SIN 13 - 44data.alhudamedia.com/Media/Al-Quran/Fahm_al-Quran... · Juzz # 23 ن أرقلامهف 2015 انم لبقت انبر Page

and He will inform you about what you used to do. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the

breasts.

So here clearly we are told that Allah does not like ingratitude from His servants. What does He

like? Gratitude! What is ingratitude? That Allah gives a person everything and what does a person

do? He runs towards others; he strives to please other than Allah. He serves other than Allah. He

seeks others than Allah.

23

The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said to a man once:

“How was your morning?” and the man said, “I am grateful to Allah before.” ….

Meaning دهلل محح I am very grateful to Allah ال

…. he said, “This is what I wanted for you, that you should be grateful.”

Allah like gratitude, RasoolAllah ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص also liked gratitude and even people what do they like? What

do they like? Gratitude, isn’t it so? I mean if there are two children, you give the same thing to both

the kids, one says, thank you and the other is quiet, what do you do? You remind them to be grateful

because gratitude is something that Allah likes, His Messenger ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص likes and people also like.

‘Write for my servant رمحيت كثريا - much, much, a lot of mercy, he is thanking me so much, I will

show him a lot of mercy too.’

8: And when adversity touches man, he calls upon his Lord, turning to Him [alone]; then

when He bestows on him a favor from Himself, he forgets Him whom he called upon before,

and he attributes to Allah equals to mislead [people] from His way….

One is a person who prays in the night and the other sleeps. One is a person who worships Allah, he

is afraid of the punishment of Allah, hoping in Allah’s reward, His mercy, can they be the same? No

way! You see hope and fear; they both go together. Allah says:

…. Say, "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?"….

No they can never be the same! And hope and fear is the way of the knowledgeable, it is the way of

those who believe.

25

Once the Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص entered upon a young man, that man was almost dying. The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص

said,

“How do you feel?”

He said, “I have hope in Allah O Messenger of Allah, but I fear my sins.” The Prophet ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص said:

“These two things do not co-exist in the heart of a person in a situation like this but Allah will give

him that which he hopes for and keeps him safe from that which he fears.”

So we need to have hope in Allah’s mercy, His reward, His promises and yes we need to be afraid of

His punishment also. When both are combined together that is true عبادة.

…. Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding.

Him in religion.

12: And I have been commanded to be the first [among] the Muslims."

The first of those who surrender to Him.
