ITEM POSITION FUNCTIONTitle bar Very top of
windowDisplays the name of the Office program and the current file
Ribbon Below Title bar Contains commands for working with the document, organized by tabs
Office Button
Upper left corner Click it to open a menu, which contains commands for working with files
Quick Access Toolbar
Next to the Office Button
Contains buttons (icons) for three common commands; you can add additional buttons to it
Insertion Point
Blinks in white work area
Shows where text will appear when you begin keying.
Scroll bars Right side and bottom of window
Allow you to move quickly to other areas of an application
Status bar Bottom of window, above Taskbar
Tells you the status of what is shown on the screen-page, etc.
Taskbar Very bottom of window
Shows the Start button, the Quick Launch toolbar, and all open programs
Help Button
Upper right corner looks like a ?
Contains on line answers for questions

I-beam Wherever you move the mouse
Shows mouse movement
Program buttons
Appear on Task Bar
Shows what programs are open and minimized
Sizing Buttons
Upper right corner above Help button
Allows you to shrink down to Task bar
View buttons
Right side of status bar
Shows how file will look in different view layouts.
Zoom Controls
Right side of View buttons
Allows you increase and decrease the viewing size of document
Open –indicates that you want to get an existing document
New –indicates that you to create a new document
Save – indicates that you want to save a document with the same name and in the same place
Save As – indicates that you are 1) saving for the first time, 2) are changing the name, or 3) are saving it in a different location
Close – indicates that you are finished with the document, also can be activated by clicking on the X in the upper right corner.
