SolubleA substance that dissolves
Insoluble
A substance that does not dissolve.
SolventThe substance in a solution that
dissolves the solute.
SoluteThe substance that dissolves in a solvent. Solutes can be solids,
liquids, or gases.
SolutionA homogeneous mixture of a solvent and a solute. In which they are both
evenly mixed.
Dissolve
The process that takes place when a solvent is mixed with a solute to make a
solution.
For example, when sodium chloride is mixed with water, it dissolves to form a solution of sodium chloride in water.
