MEMORY VERSEPsalm 100:3a, “Know that the Lord, He is God; it is He who has made us.”
GOALSTHE CHILD WILL...• Hear that God is the Creator.
• Understand that he is a special creation of God.• Know that he can have a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus.
• Know that God created him so that he could know God.
• Believe that God created him and loves him.
• Choose to follow God with his life.
REMINDERSBe intent on building relationships with the children that go beyond the program. Become their adult
friend, one they can turn to in happy times and in times of distress. You will be teaching that they can know
God. Your personal relationship with God is an example for the children. Show more than a passing
interest in the children; take time to really get to know them.

GOD CREATES THE WORLDBIBLE STORY - GENESIS 1:1-2:3; 2:18-25Recommended Visuals
• 6-8.5x11 visuals shaped to form a large circle (day and night; air; dry land, sea, plants; sun, moon, stars;
water and flying animals; Adam, Eve, land animals)
Introduction
• God is the Creator of the whole world. He created the world just because He wanted to. That is how
powerful and amazing God is. When God made the world, He didn’t just stop with making trees,
plants, and animals. He made an incredible creation called humans. The first human He made was a
man named Adam. God created Adam so that Adam could have a relationship with God and be able to
know God. Adam was one of the last things that God created. Let’s look at all the other things that
God created.
Story
• Retell the story from Genesis 1:1–2:3 and 2:18-25.
Conclusion• God created the first two people to know Him and to be able to have a relationship with Him. He
created them because He loved them and He loves the whole world. God created each person in this
world to be able to know Him. Knowing God and having a relationship with Him is the most exciting
and amazing thing we can do. God is the so powerful and amazing, and He loves each of us so much.
We should get to know Him and love Him! God created us to know Him.
TESTIMONY• Share how you came to understand that God created everything.
• Explain how you came to know God as your Father and Jesus as your Savior.
• Share things that you do to help you know God better.

CHALLENGERecommended Visuals
• Bible Story visuals*, pictures of trees, flowers, plants, and animals*, visuals for the attributes of God
(light, good, powerful, creative, kind, love)*, Power Phrase visual*, key point visuals*, Psalm 100:3a
verse visual*, Bible
Introduction
• In the story, we heard about what God created on the six days of creation. On the seventh day, God
rested. The Bible says that God used to walk in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve. He talked with
them, and they got to spend time with Him. We don’t get to do that today. God gives us His Word so
that we can know what He says and what He wants, but He doesn’t walk around where we can see
Him. I want us to look at what we can figure out about God from what He tells us about Himself in the
Bible.
Key Points
God is light.
• The Bible says that God is light and that there is no darkness in Him (1 John 1:5).
• Think about being somewhere totally dark. You might have trouble walking, or you might not know
where to go. You might become disoriented or confused. When there is light, you can see your path;
the darkness is not hiding anything. When God made light, He showed part of who He is. There isn’t
anything bad or evil about God; He is completely pure and good.
God is powerful.
• Other things that God created are the air and the water. Both the air and the water are very powerful.
Most of the time the air and the water seem gentle, but when they turn into a storm they become very
dangerous. God the Creator is more powerful than the air or the water. God the Son came to earth
about 4,000 years after God the Father made the earth. We call God the Son, Jesus. When Jesus lived
on earth, He told a storm to be still. When He did that, the strong winds and the huge waves became
very quiet and obeyed Him (Mark 4:39). Jesus is more powerful than the wind and the water.
God is creative. (Psalm 139:13-14)
• God also made dirt, trees, flowers, plants, and animals. If you look at all of these things, you will see
that they are different colors and shapes. They look different, feel different, smell different, and sound
different. God could have made everything black and white. Instead, He was creative and showed us
how much beauty there can be in life. He made sounds and laughter. He gave humans voices.
God is love.
• God did something very special when He made people. He gave us the ability to think, speak, and keep
track of what we have learned. We can write things down, learn different languages, read, and make
plans. God gave us minds to learn about Him and know Him. He wants a relationship with each of us
because He loves us (Ephesians 2:4).

CHALLENGE CONTINUEDConclusion
• God loved people so much that when they sinned against Him, He created a way that they could still
know Him. God the Father had Jesus take the punishment for sin. God showed mercy to people. Mercy
means love or kindness. He did this so that we could know Him. God created me to know Him!
• Invite the unsaved child to know God and ask God to forgive his sin.
• Invite the saved child to know God by talking to God and reading the Bible.

ATTRIBUTESGOSPEL PRESENTATIONVisuals
• “Who is God?” Foundational Gospel Truths visual*, pictures of things God created*, picture of the
temple*, picture of Jesus on the cross*, picture of the word Heaven*, list of attributes of God*
Supplies
• coloring tools, paper plates, white paper, small box
Instruction and Application
• Ask the children to share with the team one thing that describes them. After everyone has shared,
explain to the children that just as there are certain things that describe them, there are certain things
that describe God too. Show the team the visual of things God created, and explain to them how God
created everything. He is the Creator. Allow them to give you examples of things God has created.
Show the team the visual of the temple and share with them how God is holy, which means He is
perfect. Explain to them that people used to have to make sacrifices to God so He would forgive their
sins. Show the team the visual of Jesus on the cross and explain that God loves us and sent Jesus to die
on the cross for us, to be our Sacrifice. Show the team the visual with the word Heaven on it. Explain
that God’s home is Heaven and that if they believe that Jesus was the Sacrifice for their sins, and
choose to make Him the Boss of their lives, then God promises that when they die, they will get to live
in Heaven with Him. Use the verses found in the “Who is God?” portion of the Foundational Gospel
Truths as you walk the children through the Gospel.
Discussion
• Older Team: Ask the children to describe who they believe God is. Ask them how we can know that
God is real. Ask them how we can know who God is.
• Younger Team: Ask the children what they know about God. Ask them what they think Heaven is like.
• Quiet Team: Ask the children to think of different attributes of God. They can be ones you’ve just
discussed or different ones. Allow them to use coloring tools to draw out their answers either in words
or pictures.
• Active Team: Cut the attributes of God into strips and place in a small box. Allow the children to take
turns pulling out one attribute and acting it out for the rest of the team. Encourage the team to guess
what is being acted out.

review game
Play Echo. Divide the Small Group into three teams. Instruct team one to say one phrase of the verse, and
then team two to echo team one, and lastly team three will echo team two. Then they will go on to the next
phrase in the verse. After they finish the verse, switch teams, and team two will start the echo. To make it
sound more like an echo, have the first team say it loudest; then each team will gradually be quieter.

CREATED FOR A REASON CONTINUEDMEMORY VERSEDiscussion
• Older Team: Ask them what it means to know God. Ask them what things they know about God.
• Younger Team:Ask them what their favorite animal is. Ask them why they think God made those
animals.
• Quiet Team: Ask them what is their favorite thing of all God’s creations. Give each a turn to draw their
favorite things on the marker board but they can’t say what they are drawing. Everyone else guesses
what’s being drawn. Each child gets a point for any that they guess correctly.
• Active Team: Give each of them some play dough, tell them to think of something that hasn’t been
made before, and create it using the play dough. As they play, ask them what the purpose is for their
creation. Ask them why they think God made them.

ALL KINDS OF FISHCRAFTVisuals
• pictures of fish that live in fresh water, fish that live in salt water, and colorful fish*
Supplies• paper plate with 1/5-wedge cut out, 1/5-wedge of paper plate, liquid glue, decorations (stickers,
glitter, jewels, foam pieces), googly eye, crayons
Instruction and Application
• First have the children decorate the plate and the wedge (tail) with crayons and decorations. Next,
have them glue the tail and the eye, on the side of the plate that bends outward, and set them aside to
dry. The tail will be glued directly opposite of the opening to form a tail. The result is a fish with its
mouth open. Tell about how amazing fish are, and how God made many different types of fish. Explain
that some fish live in salty water and other fish live in fresh water without salt. Talk about the colors of
the fish. Emphasize that God is the Creator of the fish. While they are creating their fish, you can learn
what the children know about fish and about God. You can ask review questions, or get-to-know-you
questions.
WHAT’S THE POINT?APPLICATION ACTIVITYVisuals
• names of several things that God has created (cut in strips)*
Supplies
• coloring tools, a small box, piece of paper for each child
Activity #1
• Give the children each a piece of paper and coloring tools and instruct them to create a symbol for
something made on each day of creation. To challenge the children, you may tell them a specific day of
creation and ask them to “create” something that God made on that specific day. As they make their
creations, talk to them about how God is the Creator of everything.

WHAT’S THE POINT? CONTINUEDAPPLICATION ACTIVITYActivity #2
• Place the strips of paper with various names of God’s creation on them in a small box. Allow a child to
draw from the box and then mime what the piece of paper says (e.g., a tree, a river, a baby, a cow, etc.).
Instruct the rest of the team to guess what is being mimed. Allow the child who guesses correctly to be
the next one to mime.
NOW WHAT?ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIESSupplies
• “Creation” Coloring Page*
