Notes from Father Joseph -
Kerygma: We all know the Christmas
narrative, but it’s easy to lose sight of the
bigger story in which the story of Christmas
is situated. So, as Bishop Hying has asked
every priest to do, I have been preaching
this Advent on the bigger story of salvation, called the
kerygma, in order to help us experience Christmas in a
new and deeper way. This overarching story of salvation
is usually broken down into four parts: the grandeur of
creation, the tragedy of sin, the drama of redemption,
and the response of faith. For those interested in further
reading on this topic, my homilies have largely been
based on Fr. John Riccardo’s book “Rescued: The
Unexpected and Extraordinary News of the Gospel.”
Happy Gaudete Sunday!
Fish Fry: We held our third drive-thru carry-out fish fry
last Friday. Kudos to all our volunteers. We sold 858
meals, out best total yet. Thanks for your continued
support.
Giving Tree: Parishioners are asked to return their
gifts unwrapped with their tags to either church. We ask
for all gifts to be dropped off by Wednesday, December
16
th
.
Capital Campaign: At the end of this month we will be
closing the books on our United Together in Faith:
Rejoice and Renew campaign. Even with 100%
fulfillment on pledges, we are still facing an
approximately $50,000 shortfall. And so, if you are able
to make an end of the year gift, please consider further
supporting this campaign. Contact Fr. Joe at
[email protected] or (608) 592-5711, ex. 1.
God bless you for your generosity!
Christmas Masses: This year’s schedule will be as
follows: CHRISTMAS EVE – 4:30 PM (Lodi), 6:30 PM (Dane
*incense), 8:00 PM (Lodi *incense), 9:30 PM (Dane *no
music); CHRISTMAS DAY – 8:00 AM (Dane), 10:00 AM
(Lodi).
To safely accommodate everyone who would like to
attend, we will be utilizing an online reservation system
for these Masses. Reservations are encouraged but walk
-ups will still be welcomed, although it cannot be guaran-
teed there will be space. Seating will be limited for each
Mass. No tickets will be issued. Instead, each pew will be
labeled with a reservation. Those who do not have a
computer can call the parish office at 592-5711, ex. 2,
and speak with Teri Hellenbrand for assistance. Any
cancellations or edits to your reservation can likewise be
made by contacting Teri. The SignUpGenius reservation
link is now posted on our Facebook page and linked on
our website.
