LES VERBES EN -ER
REGULAR VERBSVERBES RÉGULIERS
Réguliers? What is that?
A verb is regular when it follows the same pattern as other verbs in the same group.
It means that all verbs in that group (here the -er group) are conjugating the SAME WAY!
Pattern? What pattern?
In order to conjugate an -er verb (any regular -er verb), you follow two steps:
Get the stemAdd the ending
STEM/ROOT OF THE VERB
To get the stem or root of theverb, you remove the -ER at the end
CHANTER -> CHANT = STEM(to sing)
ÉTUDIER -> ÉTUDI = STEM (to study)
CONJUGATION - CONJUGAISON
Each pronoun is associated with a different ending, but the stem does not change
