Dear Marney,
We've got a lot of fantastic bands heading to the Les
Schwab Amphitheater for Memorial Day Weekend. The St.
Charles Free Summer Sunday Concerts start on June 12.
Enjoy all the great music in Bend this weekend and coming
up soon at the Les Schwab Amphitheater.
Death Cab for Cutie, Bright Eyes, Jenny & Johnny
on Friday, May 27
Death Cab for Cutie's long train to popularity
has its roots in Western Washington
University, Bellingham in 1997. Melodic
guitar based rock poured out of the three
young men, Ben Gibbard, Chris Walla, and
Nick Harmer. The band's debut and follow up
albums received unanimous critical
acclaim. In May 2011 the band will release
their seventh full length album Codes and Keys.
Bright Eyes is an American indie rock band
founded by singer-songwriter and guitarist
Conor Oberst. The band's new album titled
The People's Key was released on February
2011 and is filled with the engaging and
mesmeric songwriting for which Oberst is
renowned.
Jenny & Johnny will open the show. In
2008, Rice and Lewis began writing songs
that are ultra-melodic and often blend
both of their voices into one. The album
I'm Having Fun Now was released in 2010.
(Jenny is also the lead singer for the band
Rilo Kiley.)

The Decemberists, Rodrigo y Gabriela and Dan
Mangan on Sunday, May 29
Hailing from Montana, Colin Meloy
arrived in Portland to a burgeoning
music scene. Meloy soon joined up
with Nate Query, Jenny Conlee, and
Chris Funk forming the core of The
Decemberists. Witty, intellectual
singer songwriter tales were melded
to influences as varying as The
Smiths, REM, XTC plus British and Irish folk music. In January 2011,
they topped the charts with their sixth full length release The King
is Dead. Rodrigo y Gabriela specializes in
playing fast, rhythmic acoustic
guitars. The self-titled album,
Rodrigo y Gabriela was released
internationally in 2006, includes
covers of Led Zepellin's Stairway to
Heaven and Metallica's Orion. The
duo lists several heavy metal bands
as key influences. Rodrigo y Gabriela wrote and recorded the score
for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Dan Mangan will open the show
and is a Canadian indie folk-rock
singer-songwriter. Mangan music
ranges from indie-rock, pop, alt-
country and bluegrass with his
uniquely gravelled voice and easy
stage presence.
Tickets on sale now via Bendconcerts and at the Ticket Mill in the Old Mill District. Gates open at 5pm and Show at 6:00pm.
Enjoy the Memorial Day weekend in Bend!
Sincerely,
Marcelene and Marney
