Here are some typical examples of what you might see man's best friend getting up to!

Ouf! ouf!

C'est normal que ton chien t'accompagne quand tu fais les courses. Ils aiment bien rencontrer leurs confrères!

It's quite normal to take your dog with you to the shops. They really like meeting up with their doggy mates!

Au café Les chiens sont permis

d'entrer dans les cafés. Ce chien est l'animal du propriétaire du café. Il surveille le café et les clients.

Dogs are allowed into cafés. This one is the owner's pet. He watches over the café and its customers.

Au restaurant.

Les chiens sont permis d'entrer dans les restaurants. Quelquefois, ils s'assoient à côté de leurs maîtres et dînent à la table.

Dogs are allowed into restaurants. Sometimes they sit beside their owners, and dine at the table.

Dans la rue piétonne.

Voici la rue piétonne. Les chiens accompagnent leurs maîtres aux magasins. Un petit problème - il n'y a pas de toilettes de chiens ici.

This is a mall. Dogs accompany their owners to the shops. One small problem, there are no doggy loos here!

Dans le parc.

Les maîtres doivent tenir leurs chiens en laisse dans le parc au centre-ville.

Owners have to keep their dogs on a lead in the town park.

Dans la grande rue.

Cette maîtresse promène son chien dans la grande rue. Un petit problème, il n'y a pas de toilettes de chiens ici!

This owner is walking her dog in the main shopping street. One little problem. There aren't any doggy loos here!

Au marché.

Cette maîtresse fait ses achats au marché avec son Toutou.

This owner makes her purchases at the market with her doggy.

Aux marché.

Ce petit Westie ne s'intéresse pas aux légumes, il préfère regarder les autres clients du marché!

This little Westie is not interested in the veges, he prefers watching the other customers in the market!

Evidemment, pas de problème d'entrer dans le boulanger ou chez le traiteur avec son chien!

Dans le parking.

Ce Toutou guette sur le parking dans l'auto de son maître. En hiver, il n'y a pas de problème.

Un chien, tout confort!

Qu'il est gâté, ce petit Toutou! Son maître apporte même son panier en ville!

Le marché de chiens.

Dans quelques villes, par exemple, Lyon, il y a des marchés de chiens où tu peux acheter un chiot bâtard ou de race.

In some towns, for example Lyon, there are dog markets where you can buy a mongrel or pedigree puppy.

Le chien, protecteur des SDF.

Voici un SDF (sans domicile fixe). Un SDF est sans abri. Cette dame et son chien vivent dans la rue. La dame est mendiante. Le chien est son protecteur et la rechauffe par nuit.

This is a homeless person who has no shelter. This woman and her dog live on the streets. The woman is a beggar. The dog protects her and keeps her warm at night.

Un groupe de SDF

Chaque SDF a un chien. Son chien le protège contre les agents de police.

Avant d'arrêter le SDF, il faut attraper son chien et le mettre dans la fourrière. Donc, d'abord la police doit chercher le gardien de la fourrière.

Lorsque le gardien de la fourriére est arrivé, le SDF est longtemps parti avec son chien!

A group of homeless people.

Each homeless person has a dog. The dog protects them from the police.

Before arresting a homeless person, their dog has to be caught and put into the dog pound. So, first of all, the police have to get the keeper of the dog pound.

By the time the keeper gets there, the homeless person has moved on long ago!
