Counting our Blessings!
This past week we were blessed to read in God’s Word (top 10 teachings on Stewardship) how we can count our blessings. To re-cap and to give you those scriptures for further review here they are: (Introduction OT scriptures: Mal. 3:10, Lev. 27:30, Deut. 14:22, and Pro. 3:9)
10. Money can’t buy happiness: Luke 12:15 and 6:21
9. Stewardship is not optional: Matt. 25:14-30
8. Debt is dangerous: Proverbs 22:7
7. The “love of money” is destructive: Matt. 6:24 and 1 Tim. 6:10
6. We need to teach the next generations about proper stewardship: Deut. 6:6-7
5. We should add the words “enough” and “content” to our lives: Phil. 4:2
4. There is no magic formula-it is all about Faith: 2 Cor. 9:6-8
3. Stewardship is not just obedience-it is a part of our worship: Phil. 4:18-19
2. Everything is God’s: Psalm 24:1
1. If you are blessed, God expects you to be a blessing!: Luke 12:48
This little list of scriptural teachings on the subject will, hopefully, serve as a good checklist for us. Some people increased their giving this past year. If more peo-ple increase their giving in 2015 we can serve more through benevolence, make sure that our missionaries are amply supported, encourage our Bible Colleges that are training Christian workers for future generations, continue to be good stew-ards of the facilities and resources that God has given us here, and who knows what else. IF we go above and beyond we might even be able to be a part of planting a church somewhere in this country or in a country that is open and re-ceptive to the Good News. The possibilities are endless, but right now I just hope that all of us will truly “count our blessings,” this Thanksgiving!
From our house to yours, Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Jeff
YM UPDATE White (or Brown) Friday
Weather is a funny thing, especially in Illinois where we generally have four real seasons. At the end of last week, all the forecasts I read had Saturday looking like a better than average day to get some rain. It didn’t. And the Illini won a football game. I’ll give you one guess as to which one of those things is the bigger surprise. I was able to get some outdoor projects done to the house that wouldn’t have been fun in the rain. Sunday it did rain, but despite the cold wet stuff, the Thanksgiving service turned out to be highly attended. It was a welcome surprise for everyone. As we turn to prepare for Thanksgiving, we’re again faced with the possibility of some early winter weather. Granted, we aren’t under 7ft of snow like Buffalo, NY, so complaints will be kept to a minimum. With a little snow possible on Wednesday, will we be dashing through the snow on Thanksgiving Day and trudging through brown or gray piles of snow/mud/dirt/asphalt on Friday? Who knows. Whatever the weather brings, be sure to take some time to ponder what we have to be thankful for. It’ll make highway travel, turkey “oops-es”, and standing in lines a lot more bearable.
JAM will not meet this week. We will finish out the semester with our Christmas Party and Reward Store on Wednesday December 3. If your kids completed the November Challenge, be sure they attend with the friend they invited to be able to get their prize. Also, be sure to come for our Soup supper and go caroling while the kids are in JAM. The soup is on at 5:45!
The Christmas Parade is December 7 at 2pm. We’ll again open the Inn for shelter from whatever is going on outside. We’ll have snacks and warm drinks available. The youth group is also constructing a float this year. We’ll be working on it Sunday Nov. 30 and again on Dec. 6. Call Joe if you can help out.
Be sure to attend our staff Christmas open houses (Dec. 14, 2-4 pm) and our Christmas music programs this year (KFC, Dec 14 at 6; Choir, Dec. 23 at 9:15).
We still need some more help in our Jr. and Sr. High groups. Some have responded, but we still need more. If you think you could have a con-versation with a teenager about what they are learning and about how the story of the Bible connects with life, then WE need to have a conversation. Please contact me on my cell or in the office.
Blessings, Joe

THANK YOU NOTES!
We would like to take a moment to thank everyone for their kind thoughts, prayers, and generos-ities throughout John’s illness and passing. Church was very important to John, and he always felt at home at the LeRoy Christian Church. We would like to say a special “thanks” to Jeff for the visits and the beautiful funeral service that truly captured the beauty of John’s life. Betty Moore and the family of John Wooten Thank you to the Church community for all the love and support shown to Dad and me—not only at his passing but through all the ups and downs, hospital and nursing home stays, illnesses and setbacks over the last 15 months. It’s been a long tough road, and you have been there with visits, cards, phone calls, and prayers through the whole journey. Please continue to love on each other like you have loved on us. Sarah Evans A big “Thank You” to all the good cooks and helpers for the delicious meal that was delivered to me. It was so good! I feel blessed that you did this for me. Thanks, again. Joan Crumbaugh
We would like to thank everyone for your prayers, kind words, and cards during Mom’s surgery and her passing. We know that she is happier worshipping in God’s presence. We are grateful for our Church family. Thanks, again, for everything. In Christian Love, James & Tania Eitel and Family Thank you to all who brought food, helped out, and/or gave blood for the Red Cross Blood Drive. We had a great turnout. Thanks, again. Vicki Gnagey
