Pianist, jazzman, and composer, Leonid Ptashka was born in Baku in 1964. He began to study piano when he was four years old and at the age of 7 he per-formed the Mendelssohn’s Concerto with the Baku Symphony Orchestra.A world-renowned pianist and composer, Leonid Ptashka is a virtuoso instrumentalist and a brilliant performer who was included in the prestigious list of “100 outstanding musicians of the 20th century” by the American Biographical Institute. A graduate of the famous Gnessin Academy of Music in Mos-cow, his musical achievements spread far beyond the Russian Jazz circle. He performed as a soloist at recital concerts all over the world, including a solo recital in the Carnegie Concert Hall in New York City. Ptashka received numerous awards such as the first prize at the Pianist Competition in Los Angeles, the special prize at the Jazz Pianist Competition in France, and the first prize at Eilat Jazz Festival in Isra-el. He is the founder and artistic director of Interna-tional Jazz Festivals in Israel which are taking place since 1994 in different cities across the country.

Leonid Ptashka, pijanist, džezist i skladatelj, rođen je u Bakuu 1964. Započeo je studij glasovira kad je imao četiri godine a sa sedam je izveo Mendelssohn-ov koncert sa Simfonijskim orkestrom iz Bakua.

Svjetski priznati pijanist i skladatelj, Leonid Ptashka je virtuozni instrumentalist i briljantni izvođač koji je bio uključen na prestižnu listu „100 istaknutih glaz-benika 20. stoljeća“ koju je objavio Američki biograf-ski institut. Nakon što je diplomirao na slavnoj glaz-benoj akademiji Gnessin u Moskvi, njegova muzička postignuća proširila su se daleko izvan ruskog jazz kruga. Nastupao je kao solist s recitalima širom svije-ta, uključujući solo recital u koncertnoj dvorani Car-negie u New Yorku.

Ptashka je dobitnik brojnih nagrada kao što je prva nagrada na pijanističkom natjecanju u Los Angelesu, posebna nagrada na jazz pijanističkom natjecanju u Francuskoj i prva nagrada na Eilatskom jazz festiva-lu u Izraelu. Osnivač je i umjetnički direktor međun-arodnih jazz festivala u Izraelu koji se održavaju od 1994. u različitim gradovima širom zemlje.
