“SKIS WITH WHICH ONE CAN WALK ON WATER”
WAS HE REALLY A SCIENTIST, INVENTOR OR ENGINEER?
Leonardo was said to be a “painter, sculptor, architect,
musician, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist,
geologist, cartographer, botanist, polymath and writer”…
…and a man of "unquenchable curiosity" and "feverishly
inventive imagination”.
(In this context:
• Science means a systematic body of knowledge that is verified by experience
• Invention means a creative process undertaken by one with an open and curious mind to
produce a unique or novel device, method, composition or process
• Engineering means the application of scientific, economic, social, and practical knowledge
in order to invent, design, build, maintain, and improve structures, machines, devices,
systems, materials and processes).
