LEO GRANT: CURRICULUM VITAE EDUCATION Sept 08 – Present: University of Southampton (PhD Music Composition) Sept 06- Sept 07: University of Southampton (MMus Masters in Music Composition, Distinction) Sept 00- July 03: Goldsmiths College, University of London (BMus Undergraduate Music Degree, 2:1) PERFORMANCES December 2010: “This Moving With Respect to That” For Two Pianos performed by Michael Finnissy and Rolf Hind at the New Works Festival, Southampton University PERSONAL STATEMENT I am currently in the final year of my PhD studying under Michael Finnissy at Southampton University, researching “The Application of Electronic Collage Techniques to the Composition of Acoustic Instrumental Music”. My previous experience is in electronic dance music production. I have written and released over 30 tracks, including releases on Goldie’s ‘’Metalheadz’’ label, and have been played regularly and featured on BBC Radio 1 and 1xtra. I apply this experience to my PhD work, using computer sequencers and MIDI technology to try and find new approaches to Contemporary Classical composition.
