Itinerary

Day 1 - Arusha to Ngorongoro

On landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be welcomed by an Albatros Travel representative and receive a full safari after which you will be transferred to one of Arusha’s local restaurants for lunch. After lunch, hop into your safari vehicle and begin your journey towards the Ngorongoro Highlands arriving at Lemala Ngorongoro in time for afternoon tea and sundowners. Situated on the crater rim in a forest of ancient acacia trees, this intimate seasonal camp with just 9 spacious and recently refurbished en-suite tents is the perfect base from which to explore the Ngorongoro in a warm and personal setting. settle into your rooms and explore your home for the next two nights as you wait for dinner to be served in the beautifully furnished mess tent under chandeliers.

Day 2 - Ngorongoro Crater

To take full advantage of your time here, we recommend an early breakfast and an early start. Today, you will spend the day on an extended game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater with a picnic lunch in search of the many species that populate this UNESCO World Heritage Site including wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, black-maned lion, leopard and hyena. The major advantage of staying at Lemala Ngorongoro is the camp’s prime location offering guests quick and easy access (10 to 15 minutes) to the crater floor. Return to camp before sunset in time to enjoy sundowner cocktails and stunning views from the crater rim before freshening up and sitting down to your last dinner in the Ngorongoro.

Day 3 - Ngorongoro to Serengeti

Today you are off to another of Tanzania’s famous wildlife reserves for a different safari experience. After breakfast, you will begin your drive towards the Serengeti with a visit to Ol Duvai Gorge en-route. You will reach central Serengeti and Lemala Ewanjan in time for lunch. This deluxe seasonal camp is set along the slopes of the game-rich Seronera Valley offering breath-taking views of the plains beyond and its abundant wildlife. Lemala Ewanjan consists of 12 tented spacious and comfortable suites with lovely wooden floors and spectacular views from your private veranda. After lunch, you will be able to relax and settle into your tents before you head out for the day’s first full game drive in the Serengeti. Back at camp; hot showers and dinner await.

Day 4 - Serengeti

Similarly to your time in Ngorongoro, we recommend an early start this morning for a better game viewing experience. After a hot cup of tea or coffee, head out into the park for a chance to watch the sunrise and the plains come to life. You will make your way back to camp as the sun continues to rise for a full breakfast followed by an afternoon of relaxation. In the coolness of the late afternoon, you will make your way back out onto the plains to discover another area of this vast wildlife reserve in search of the many resident big cats. As the sun begins to set, return to camp in time to enjoy sundowner cocktails before enjoying another delicious three-course meal.

Day 5 - Central Serengeti to Northern Serengeti

Today you leave the plains of the central Serengeti behind you and head towards the northern part of this expansive park. After breakfast, you will be transferred to the nearby airstrip for your scheduled flight to Kogatende in northern Serengeti where you will arrive by mid-morning. On landing in Kogatende, you will be met by your driver guide and transferred to Lemala Kuria Hills where you will spend the next three nights. The camp, situated close to the Mara River and within the main corridor of the wildebeest migration, offers unrivalled luxury with just 10 glass-fronted en-suite tents. Each tent has been perfectly positioned to ensure privacy and perfect vistas and beautifully furnished in a stylish, contemporary design complete with a large deck and private plunge pool. Enjoy lunch on the main outdoor deck while you spot game from your table before spending the remainder of the afternoon discovering this stunning camp, cooling off in the swimming pool or lounging on your private deck. In the late afternoon, climb back into your safari vehicle in search of any of the animals you have not yet been able to spot. You will get back to camp before nightfall giving you the perfect opportunity to enjoy a piping hot shower as you watch the sun set over the park. Dinner is served under the stars followed by a night cap at the bar.

Day 6 & 7

During the next two nights you are free to spend your days in any way you please as there are plenty of activities to keep you busy. You may prefer to rise before the sun for an early morning game drive before returning to camp for a mid-morning breakfast or settle down in a secluded spot on the plains and enjoy a private breakfast served in the heart of the bush. Alternatively, you may wish to rise a little later and enjoy a leisurely breakfast before heading out for your game drive and returning in time for lunch. As you wait to head out on the days last game drive, you may wish to pamper yourself at the Melengali Spa and indulge in a soothing massage (at additional cost) in a peaceful, natural setting, soak up the hot sun of the pool deck or relax with a good book. On one of your afternoons, you may prefer to explore the amazing wildlife, landscapes and habitats of the area on foot in the company of a local guide who will be able to point out the smaller species and birds of this spectacular eco-system. Slowly make your way back to camp and enjoy a sundowner cocktail served on one of the kopjes overlooking the Isuaria escarpment.

Day 8 - Depart

This morning your safari comes to an end. You may choose to rise early and enjoy a final game drive of wake up a little later and game spot from your breakfast table before you are transferred back to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Arusha. On landing in Arusha, you will be met by an Albatros representative and transferred to Kilmanjaro International Airport for your departure flight home.
