The new Leica DISTO™ D8 completes the 7th generation of the DISTO™ range. Equipped with all the features of the DISTO™ D5 such as the digital pointfinder with 4x zoom and a large colour display (2.4”), the Leica DISTO™ D8 is the most versatile handheld laser distance meter on the market. The Leica DISTO™ D8 is designed with many new innovative functions and features to make measuring more efficient, reliable, convenient and safer. Equipped with a 360° tilt sensor and a sensor to housing accuracy of 0.1°, any vertical angle can be easily be measured correct to 0.1°. The tilt sensor allows for a host of indirect horizontal and vertical measurements. Real time true vertical measurement with 1 measured distance, otherwise known as remote elevation. This is useful for façade engineers who need to measure heights for exterior decorations. Simply start with a measurement from 1 from 1 end and as you traverse up or down the real time height is automatically ‘tracked’. Hence the second point need not be a stationary target nor do you need a target plate. Heights of trees or power cable overhang can now be measured from a distance accurately and safely. Its double tilt measurement with 2 measured distances allows an indirect measure of a length along a vertical plane. For roofers who need to know the length of a roof of a terrace house or the sloping façade of a wall or even the height of a rooftop structure that is where the base is hidden from view.
