25 years ago someone called and

asked if we could make them a table leg.

“What an odd request”, I thought at the

time, “there are table legs available

everywhere”. I worked up a basic design

(the same one used today in our “Great

Lookin’ Legs®” Series), the client approved,

and there we were, in the table legs biz.

My error was assuming that because there

were table legs available everywhere, there

were good design and good quality table

legs available. Simply put, there were not.

There were (and are) many inexpensive

low-end legs around.

We proudly offer the finest table legs you

will find. There are none better in design,

quality, or finish. Many are in stock for

immediate delivery.

What began as one leg 4" diameter by 27"

high has now exploded into about 50

different legs. We have 5" and 6" short

ones to 27" to 34" tall ones, we have

table bases, and we have electrically pow-

ered lift legs. Plus, we have casters to go

with many of our legs.

Standard Leveler

A nylon glide that screws into the base

of the leg. It permits about 1" to

1 1/4" vertical adjustment. One of its

great benefits is it is concealed and

invisible from most viewing levels.

Plate Leveler

A big seller since we introduced in 1987. The Plate Leveler is

a 1/2" thick solid steel disc with 1/2" screw welded to it,

permitting about 1" of vertical movement. It is the same

diameter as the table leg and finished the same, so when

the Plate Leveler is screwed all the way in or just slightly

adjusted as in the photo here, the viewer’s eyes tends to see

leg and leveler as one; psychologically, one merges both. Try

it. The Plate Leveler adds an elegant touch to any table leg.

Red head bolts leg to floor

Ever wondered how those stand alone tables supported by one central leg stayed firmly in place? With a red head bolt, that’s how.

A neat idea. Just drill a hole in concrete floor, screw red head in place, and, using long bolt supplied, screw leg into red head, then

screw table top onto leg. Voila! Leg is firmly fastened to floor. Top is firmly fastened to leg. That’s it. Variations available for wood

and other types of floors. We can do this for any leg at reasonable extra cost. Allow about 6 to 8 week lead time.

Glass cap for glass table

Glass tables look great. Our “Great Lookin Legs”™ can help them look even greater with Glass caps on the tops of the legs.

Here’s how they work:

• We weld a flat cap to the top of the leg with a threaded hole in the center. We weld a threaded bolt to a 1/2" thick cap.

• All are finished as you specify.

• You drill a hole in glass and assemble.

• Finished table with Glass Caps atop our legs look terrific. Not too expensive to do either, allow about 6 to 8 week lead time.

Fit a Power & Communications Grommet (PCS) into a Table Leg with TLPCS Series

Integrated designs often incorporate a table leg with a Power and Communications Grommet. The end result looks quite

streamlined – the PCS going into the desk right above where the leg connects from underneath, and the cord coming out

from the bottom.

To make your life easy we have modified a number of our TL Series legs to fit many of our PCS grommets. Check out the

leg dimensions below to see if other brands of PCS’s will fit.

Here’s how the legs have been modified:

First, the top plate has a hole in it the diameter of the leg;

Second, the bottom leveler strap has a “U”-shaped cut taken from it so the electric plug will slide past;

Third, the bottom of the leg has a “U”-shaped mousehole for the plug and cord to exit.

Here’s a drawing so you can get an idea what it looks like.

Variations

The important dimension of the leg is inside diameter, which

limits the diameter of the PCS that will fit into it. Our TLPCS legs are:

incorporate wire management into our

line of table legs for quite some time

now. He has triumphantly come up

with several viable solutions to handle

the wires. One leg incorporates a

1 1/2" hole in the top plate of the leg.

The plugs and cords can go through

your desktop via one of our fine

grommets placed directly above the

center of the leg. The wires will go

through the leg to the bottom and exit

via a mousehole. Good-bye wires,

good-bye problems. Hello, fine solu-

tion. Or, the wires can enter this leg

from a 1 1/2" diameter hole at the top

of the tube, then drop down to the

mousehole exit.

You know Nancy’s designs, now she

has penned some very cleanly

executed table legs. TLRF1 is a single

leg made of steel, 1" by 2". It comes

with a choice of top plates, both of

them 3" by 4". TLRF1/W, is the

usual with four screw holes on the top

plate. TLRF1/G has a solid, finished

top plate, to glue to a clear glass top.

We offer, as an option, non-UV glue

that dries clear and is self-leveling.

TLRF2 consists of two legs with a

22 1/16" stretcher between them; just

use two for any high-end work station,

home office or executive desk, or

dining table. Same height, same top

plate choices as TLRF1.

TLRAL Series - Roma Leg We call this beauty the “Roma Leg”

because its fine design and unique

action reminds us of the best furniture

components from Italy.

The neat concept about this 3 1/4"

diameter leg is that it easily adjusts as

much as 6" vertically, from 27" to

33". Just rotate the barrel, move the

leg up or down to the right height, and

twist the barrel closed. Though the leg

adjusts higher, we’ve found it is far

more stable with less height

adjustment. A great leg for lightweight

use. That’s a lot of adjustment in one

good lookin’ leg. Best of all, it can

solve several height problems you may

encounter in one job. You may need

TLK Series - Kyros Leg There is something very sensual about

extruded aluminum, an effect and feel

one does not get from cold rolled steel.

Call it a softness, perhaps, that

aluminum has and steel does not.

Plus, the Kyros has serrations all

around which add to its appeal,

particularly in the satin

aluminum finish.

It comes with your choice of bases:

A 5" diameter base, or a heavy 16"

diameter rubber-covered steel disc to

use as a freestanding table base that

will suit a table top up to 36" diame-

ter. The rubber covering the large base

adds another dimension of softness

and good design where one least

expects it. This is a heavy duty leg

or table base.

Better yet, it adjusts 7 1/2" up and

down, from 27" to 34 1/2". Just

loosen the allen screws, adjust height,

and re-tighten. Good-looking triangular

tube insert plays well off the serrated

primary tube.

Electric Legs

If you want adjustable, this is it. Period. Adjustable table legs

provide workers with ergonomic benefits, as users can change

the height of their desks as suits their mood or tired muscles,

even their desire to work standing up instead of sitting down.

And why not? Altering the desk height gives a whole new

flexibility to furniture and a whole new perspective — the health

of the person working behind the desk — and a healthy worker

will be a more productive worker. Why shouldn’t the furniture

be a good part of the solution?

We are proud to introduce the first in a series of electrically driven

adjustable table legs. High quality, adjustable to 1/16", can be

used in pairs or singly.

A worm drive is inside telescoping legs, and goes up and down at

your command. The fit of the legs to one another is extremely pre-

cise so there is no wobble.

Going Green

While we will be the first to agree that everyone

needs to do their share to be “green” and to help

alleviate global warming, it is hard to know where to start

and how much is enough. Honestly, we see it as a

learning process.

We are often asked “What are you

doing?”. Here is what we are doing:

• We have calculated the mileage of

all company vehicles and are buying

carbon offsets. Carbon offsets are

based on the number of pounds of

CO2 they emit. We pay a fee per

pound or ton of C02 and the funds go

to “offset” the CO2 emitted by the

vehicles by planting trees or helping fund

sustainable farms. In addition, we have calculated the

commuting mileage of all employee cars and are doing

the same with them.

• All our warehouse light bulbs have been converted to

low electrical use bulbs, saving power and $1000 a

month on our electric bill. We monitor electric usage

daily, turning up thermostats and limiting air conditioning

use, for example.

• This catalog is printed on FSC (Forest Stewardship

Council) recycled paper, and with soy based inks. As will

all our future brochures and catalogs.

• Our packing material is as “green”

as we can find. We are using

pillows and foam wrap instead of

peanuts, and as little as we can.

And are always looking for better, more environmentally

friendly materials.

• Our WM9 wire manager has always been made of

regrind plastic. But, a quality appearance is not

an issue with this part. We are looking

into regrind plastic for all our wire

managers. So far it does not look like

there is much out there to replace

PVC. Brazil is coming out with an

environmentally-friendly material, but

not until 2009.

• We are investigating making all

our injection molded plastic

grommets from regrind, but there are

quality issues involved with the currently

available material. So, we keep on looking.

• We have organized a carpool for our employees.

• The company has bought 10 bicycles for employees to

commute with instead of driving.

• We redesigned our packing slips to have a peel-off

address label, cutting in half paper consumption in this

area.

• We are demanding our suppliers get on the band

wagon and exhorting them to become more green.

If we all pull in the same direction, it will work!
