LegendTeaching with TechnologyBlackboard Learn helps you make learning more effective in and beyond the traditional classroom. It is a digital toolkit designed to enhance your teaching at your own time and pace. Its convenience and flexibility allow you to post your course material online, promote collaboration, engage students, and assess outcomes.

A wide range of training sessions are offered to help you effectively design and manage content, implement strategies to increase student engagement, and monitor performance. Explore our online help material or connect with Blackboard Support professionals through http://utsa.blackboard.com.

Share Your Content BlackBoard Learn makes it easy to create and manage content without any coding skills needed. You can share your syllabus, provide assignment instructions, and show instructional videos using YouTube, NBC Learn, or from the library databases for streaming video. You can also save your PowerPoints as PDFs and share them with your students so they can access them anytime, anyplace. You can create dynamic course content for your students by using SoftChalk, a powerful web lesson creator that does not require any programming skills. Use your subject materials and mash-up the content with audio, video, interactive exercises, quizzes, and text.

Personalize Your CourseYour course introduction is one of the first things students see when they begin the semester, and it helps set the tone for the students’ expectations throughout the semester. Our team can provide assistance in developing your ideas and collaborate with you through the entire process to produce high quality video segments. Access our Video Production guide on how to record a video in five steps at http://utsa.edu/oit/DigitalLearning and click Create a Video.

Explore Digital Learning TechnologiesAre you interested in other resources and tools available to support your teaching and learning? We recommend exploring our Technology Toolkit, a learning module designed to help you choose a digital learning solution that meets the needs of both you and your students. Our technology toolkit can be found at http://utsacloud-public.sharepoint.com/digital-tools.

Evaluate Student LearningBlackboard Learn allows you to provide students with more opportunities to practice. Feedback can be provided immediately through computer-graded quizzes. Grades can be tied to assignments (with or without the plagiarism detection tool), discussion board participation, blogs, and wikis. Groups and peer reviews can be used for research projects, case studies, and collaborative writing projects. Our team can help you identify strategies to facilitate assessment online and show you how to use SoftChalk (to create quizzes that post directly to the Gradebook), and Respondus, a tool for creating and managing exams.

Engage StudentsBy adding audio, video, quizzes, animations, and setting up your text to complement the other aspects of each slide, you can provide students with a more engaging experience and boost their creativity. Our instructional designers can help identify technology resources that fit your needs efficiently.

New features in screencasting may help you make face-to-face time more active and out-of-class learning more productive. Create 2-5 minute mini lectures using Camtasia so you can use your class time on other activities like discussions, team-based learning, or Q&A sessions. Our Faculty Instructional Technology (FIT) Lab MS 1.03.14 and Multimedia Studio have the technology tools you need.
