    Constitutional Mandate

    The mandate of the Public Protector is to strengthen constitutional democracy by investigating and redressingimproper and prejudicial conduct, maladministration and abuse of power in all State affairs, resolvingadministrative conduct through mediation, conciliation or negotiation, advising on appropriate remedies or

    employing any other expedient means; reporting and recommending, advising and investigating violations ofthe Executive Members Ethics Act of 1994; resolving dispute relating to the operations of Promotion of Accessto Information Act of 2000 and discharging other responsibilities as mandated by the legislation.

    LEGAL EDITORS/WRITERS/RESEARCHERS (5-10)Pretoria: Head Office

    The Public Protector SA (PPSA) seeks to urgently appoint legal editors to help in clearing the backlog

    of investigations reports within its Quality Assurance Unit. The prospective candidates are required tohave appropriate relevant qualifications plus practical experience in editing legal/law publicationsincluding articles published in law journals. Prospective candidates with experience as authors orresearchers will also be considered.

    It is envisaged that successful candidates will commence duties as soon as possible on or before 15November 2013. The successful candidates will be appointed on an ad-hoc basis depending on thevolume of reports to be quality assured. The successful candidates will be remunerated in accordancewith the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) rates for consultancy work. Thecurrent minimum applicable rate for the prospective candidates based on the minimum legalqualification of an investigator in the PPSA is R445 per hour negotiable depending on the level of

    qualifications and experience.

    The successful candidates will be expected to attend a full day workshop with the Public Protector to beguided on their duties and responsibilities regarding quality assurance of investigation reports. Thesuccessful candidates will be expected to show clear daily outputs/deliverables for the days assigned.The project entails the quality assurance of investigations reports in accordance the Public ProtectorSA approved format, structure and standards.
