DESCRIPTION

This research discusses the use of the LEED certification looking through Brazilian's culture and workforce realities. A case study conducted in a Core & Shell LEED certified building in the outskirts of São Paulo, we analyze the environmental, business advantages and the obstacles for Brazil in the adoption of the certification. The arrival of a Brazilian adapted version of the LEED certification, beyond all of it’s limitations, promotes new discussion and attitudes in regard of civil engineering’s role and the impact of it’s practices.
