microtonal level. A “shimmering” effect of pitch fluctuation is

and tuba use a straight mute when called for (con sordino) + - + -

rhythmic gestures, the player may bow the rhythms at unspecific
pitches. Non-notated harmonics in strings may be played anywhere

decrease of speed by each individual. When applying maximum bow
pressure, the desired result is the “subtone” that occurs. A
secondary result of the crackling or scratching of the string will
also create a powerful effect. Please increase bow pressure
incrementally for maximum effect.
