What a special weekend on thePike!

First, our ladies held a retreat at Ce-dars of Lebanon, where they met un-der the theme Esteeming One An-other: Freckles and All. Besides a severe lack of sleep, they had a wonderful time. Singing, speak-ers, and fun filled the Friday night-Saturday retreat. Teresa Hampton spoke twice on Saturday and

so many have already told me what a great job she did. (Im also a little biased, but Leah spokeFriday night and did great!!!) 38 of our ladies attended, and thats a great number, since this issomething that hasnt been done in some time.

Sunday, of course, was not only the Lords Day, but also Mothers Day. We were blessed with manyvisitors present to honor their mother and celebrate her. We also had many who were away doingthe same. I tried to encourage mothers of all ages from Proverbs 31. King Lemuel simply could notforget the oracle his mother taught him. Our moms have that ability. Whether a child follows theadvice or not is up to him or her, but a child will never forget the words taught by mom. Lemuelcouldnt!

We were blessed with visitors from all over, and our attendance was back up in the right directionagain. We enjoyed the presence of361 in our morning worship service. Thats more like it!

Then, at 4:45, we had a Vacation Bible School meetingwith our teachers and staff. I hate meeting on holidays, but it was really unavoidable, with our VBS coming up sosoon (June 14-17; 6:30 PM each night...be there!). Somegreat ideas were put forth and we are getting excited aswe enter the final stretch of planning. Its wonderful tohave such a dedicated group of leaders for this event.

Finally, we enjoyed a wonderful worship service lastnight. Harry Middleton, our outreach minister, preachedon Five Laws for Being a Success. It was an upliftingand helpful sermon directed toward our young people. Ihope they listened, because the things taught from GodsWord will greatly impact their lives if they follow throughwith them.

Be with us for all this weeks activities. Serve God today!
