The past few weeks, Cosmetology was happy to feature guest demonstrators. First, owner of Artistic Edge Salon, Lori Walkowiak demonstrated different highlighting techniques. Two stylists and former students Allison Frazier and Alex Geib were along for the presentation and offered input about the industry and their experiences. The students learned about different highlighting products and a variety of techniques used for the styles offered in the salon. Lori also gave students advice about professionalism and how to build and maintain a clientele.

The next demonstration was by Julia Meck representing Ulta Beauty. Julia demonstrated how to shape, wax and tint eyebrows. She also gave the students information about career possibilities at Ulta Beauty.

Finally, the last demonstration was done by Kaitlyn Parma from Belle and Blush Salon located at Salon Element. Kaitlyn applied eyelash extensions to Abby Weisman, a cosmetology student. She explained the proper technique and what is required to offer this service in a salon.

Apprentice Jarrod Eltz Competing in National Student of the Year Competition

Jarrod Eltz, a senior apprentice, was selected by the American Culinary Federation to compete for Northeast Student Chef of the Year. After filling out applications, typing essays, testing recipes and creating a final dish to send to the ACF, he was one of four selected out of hundreds of applicants to compete in Buffalo, New York.
