INTRODUCTION This is one of a series of guides available from the Teaching, Learning & Assessment with Technology series. Please note, Your faculty may have other approaches or use different tools, contact your Faculty TEL Officer for more information on local provision.

The Assignment Activity in KEATS can be used to provide feedback to students. Students do not need to have submitted any work to the assignment activity for you to leave feedback for them, so the Assignment Activity can be used to give feedback for work such as live presentations or oral exams.

This document covers:

This document will cover all methods of feedback included in the Activity Assignment in KEATS. The feedback methods include:

• Feedback comments.

• Feedback files.

• Offline grading worksheet.

• Comment inline.

• Rubrics.

Important information

All feedback methods listed in this document can be configured in the settings of the Assignment Activity under the ‘Feedback types’ drop down. You can decide on whether to include one method of feedback, choose all, or choose several. Guidance on creating an Assignment Activity can be found on the Creating an Assignment Submission Area in KEATS guide.

Assignment Activities in KEATS can also have Turnitin enabled, which allows for feedback to be left in the Feedback Marking Studio. For advice on how to do this, please see the Grading Assignments in Feedback Studio guide. Please note, if marking using the Turnitin Feedback Studio, grades will be copied from Turnitin into the Moodle Assignment, but feedback will not.

Accessibility considerations

If marking using the Turnitin integration, accessibility considerations can be found on the Turnitin webpages.

QUICK GUIDE To access the assignment area that you would like to use to give feedback to your students, find it in KEATS and click on it. You will see all submissions made by students, which will vary depending on how many files students are required to submit.
