Sonadih2nd clinker line Project1.Main transformer

• Main transformer should be always out door type.

• Lafarge mandatory safety requirements for main transformer are to be followed.

• Main transformer to be mounted on at least 90 lb rails.

(Refer animation for the typical arrangement)

• Main transformer & the switch yard to be protected by a fence of at least 2.5 mtr height & the fence to be grounded at least two points.

• Main transformer neutral to be grounded separately with a separate color – Switch yard general earthing – Green color.Transformer neutral earthing – Black color.

Courtesy – IE rules – 1956 Rev 2000

• The location of the oil soak pit should be out side the switch yard

• The capacity of the soak pit should be suitable for the entire oil capacity of the live transformer

Sonadih2nd clinker line Project1.Main transformer-Lightning protection

Courtesy – IE rules – 1956 Rev 2000

Out door switchyard is to be protected from lightning by suitable measures/ Lightning masts are to be provided & the calculations are to be submitted to CEIG .

Lightning protection drawings are also to be supplied by the designer.

Sonadih2nd clinker line Project2.Switchyard towers & gantries

• Switchyard structures should be of bolted structures and should be of GI angular structures/ pipe structures.

• Switchyard structures should be low bay type.

• IPS aluminium tubular conductor type switchyard is preferred.

• Switchyard equipment creepage distances should be at least class-3 of IEC 34.

• The lightning arresters should be with min discharge current of 10 kA and should be metal oxide and gapless type.

• Each bay is to be supported by a breaker, Isolator with earth switch , set of CT,set of lightning arresters PT may be based on the requirement.

Cable cellar elevation Cable cellar Plan

Cable cellar typical arrangement shown below for the major substations for small LV elect rooms beam bottom of 1.2 mtr can be accepted instead of 1.8 mtr.

Inside cellar rooms adequate space and entry for inspection, laying & termination to be provided.

All the cable tray and supports should be of GI & should be mounted on insert plates.
