Residents of TU and TC from THM’s multiple locations stepped up and volunteered for 20 hours overnight during participation of the Cancer Relay which ended at 10am. From pre-event activities to the Relay, we hope that the values relating to supporting the fight for cancer is something our residents will take home. Kudos to THM Staff and Service Leaders, Wang Zhao Loon (TCSJ) and the late Walla (TU) who worked hard in enabling us to win this award at Global level for 2014. Proud recipients of Best Global Team 2014 Relay For Life of Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Knowledge Hunt - 15th & 22nd August 2015 Volcano in the making by the kids Good job, the biggest bubble blown for the day Sharings : We need to reach out our hands to the world outside and to the community and society. There shouldn’t be barriers among humans who are ethnically different. We are all the same, living under the same sky and sharing the same horizon. Keshia Jasmine, Cambridge A-Levels, TCSJ I realized that kids are quite easy to deal with. I learnt to be patient. Teamwork is important to make an event a success. Lim Zheng Li, Cambridge A-Levels, TCSH I discovered how important it is to reach out to the community, because every tiny effort can lead to a big difference. Nur Hanis, South Australian Matriculation, TCSJ Bringing Joy, Fun of Learning and Hope to the children of Refugees Centers namely Rohingya Refugees and Chin Community for Myanmar Refugees. Our new Service Learning program reach out to our 2015 new residents to enable support to displaced refugees from Myanmar and Rohingya. During weekly trips to their Homes, residents spent 2 hours teaching basic Maths and English while they also distributed donated items from our residential community like clothing, toys, books and food for the children. Launch of Education Program for Refugees Teaching basic Maths and English Using attractive teaching materials for story telling and colouring books, our residents began their lesson plan under the supervision of our partnering NGO Generasi Gemilang. Our aim for this initiative is for them to develop relational values as they serve the need of these displaced communities. Story telling and visual aids to enhance communication while teaching Sharings : Today made me realized about the problems poverty brings to life. Before this, I did not know about the existence of Myanmar Refugees in Malaysia as well as their conditions. I expected them to live in a rural area but they actually live in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Despite their condition and hardship, they seemed happy and healthy, these would be the lesson that I could learn and adapt with. Nur Syahirah Amiruddin, American Degree Programme, TU When I first stepped in the center, the only feeling I had was ‘HOME’. Maybe it is because we are from the same country and spoke the same language. I really learnt something that I have never experienced, their innocence and their kindness. They have a strong mind and enjoy their simple lifestyle. Moe Moe Aung @ Maureen, Diploma In Tourism Management, TU Iftar Ramadhan (A time to reflect on Humanity) - 24th June 2015 Hosted by the Sponsorship Support Unit of Taylor’s University, children from the Rumah Amal Limpahan Kasih were invited for a get together with our Muslim scholars for an Iftar event (buka puasa) held in U-Lounge. Datin Syela from Business Development graciously welcomed these children to Taylor’s and presenting them their Raya treats. At U Residence, an array of traditional Malay delicacies were prepared for the breaking of fast. After the reading of Yassin, the group proceeded to Kampung Chili restaurant for the breaking of fast followed by Tarawih prayer. One for the album with the residents..... Sharings : The event was well organized and it is very heartwarming to spend IFTAR with people at U Residence and the children. Most importantly, I really appreciate the effort that U Residence and other parties that are involved put into this successful event. Service Learning Workshop - Another milestone achieved Identifying their Goals and dreams Sharings : It made me realized that a small and little kind act in daily life may bring a great change or impact to other people even though we do not do it intentionally. Yu Zhe Lin, Cambridge A-Levels, TCSJ Hot Night during overnight ‘TNB power shutdown’ led to organizing “Let’s go Broga!!!” Yes, we finally made it to the top! Exhausted and yet we are able to smile TCSH an annual jogathon was another fun-filled successfull fund raising event raising up to RM60,000 for charitable organizations and societies. In support of this event, 70 residents from THM locations namely U Residence, Rajawali and Puncak Prima joined in this fun Sunday morning run. Jog for Hope - 16th August 2015 On your marks, Get set, Go.........the start of the RUN for a good cause We have now come into the 3rd quarter of 2015 and we bid welcome to our new residents at Rajawali, Puncak Prima and U Residence. The Ramadhan month called for our welcome programs to have a flavor of ‘Raya food and songs’ while the Service Learning activities centered towards Iftar with the less fortunate as one big Muslim family. To prepare our Residents for new beginnings, Service Learning workshops, Orientation events and trips with Raya celebrations made this quarter a wholesome fun time throughout the Halls of Residence.

It was indeed a humbling experience when our passion to make a di�erence in lives to those around us translated to winning this Global Award. Residents of TU and TC from THM’s multiple locations stepped up and volunteered for 20 hours overnight during participation of the Cancer Relay which ended at 10am.
