EVOLVE AND EDUCATIONAL VISITS

Evolve Visits and Approvals: Access to a technical Adviser for Educational visits who will advise and guide you to ensure all visits meet your legal responsibilities as an Employer and follow required approved practice. Support the planning, management, monitoring and approval (if approval is provided) for your schoolsEducational Visits and in particular Overseas, Residential and Adventurous.

Evolve Website:• RegularlyupdatedPolicy,ProceduresandGuidance.• EducationalVisitsonlineadvice,information,newsandalldownloadableresources.• Informationaboutvisitsfromallschoolsandunits(non-confidentialinformationonly).• ContactallregularEvolveusersusingthemessengersystem.

Provision of a helpline and online support during term time. This helpline will be provided for technical support in using Evolve and advice and guidance on all aspects of Educational Visits. Access to regular Educational Visit Coordinator cluster update meeting.

Visit Leader Training: Thispracticalcoursewillconsiderthevalueandbenefitsoflearningoutsidetheclassroom,and will help staff to understand the issues involved in the planning, organisation, and leadership of visits.

Risk Management and Assessment Training: This course will support staff when planning and ensuring risk assessments are effective, and safe. There is no such thing as absolute safety or zero risk when undertaking a riskassessment.Inordertopresentpupilswithbeneficialchallengesweshouldnotbeseekingzerorisk.Decisionshavetobemadeaboutwhetherthetakingofparticularrisksisjustified.Isthereanappropriatebalancebetweenthebenefitsoftheactivity,therisksandthecostandinconvenienceofreducingthem?

Overseas, Exchanges and Residential Visits Organiser: This course is for those staff wishing to organise andleadvisitsabroad,especiallyforthefirsttime.Theorganisationandleadershipofoverseasvisits,Skivisits expeditions, and exchanges are considerably more complex and demanding than many other school visits, and staff are recommended to undertake this training at an early stage of the planning process.

Educational Visits Co-ordinator Training and Headteacher Training: All EVC’s must attend this mandatory training at least every 3 years to ensure EVC’s are fully aware of approved practice, latest guidance, policies and procedures and their responsibilities regarding the management of educational visits.

Educational Visits Co-ordinator Update: ALL existing Educational Visits Coordinators should attend an EVC Update training session within 3 years. The session ensures EVC’s are aware of changes to policies and procedures nationally and of updates to approved practice and guidance.

Ski Course Organiser Award: For staff wishing to organise and lead ski visits abroad, especially for the firsttime.Theorganisationandleadershipofschoolskivisitsisconsiderablymorecomplexanddemandingthan many other school visits, and staff are recommended to undertake this training at an early stage of the planning process.

Critical Accident/Review Training for Headteachers and EVC, Governors and managers: A focus on considering the issues involved in dealing with a potential critical incident during an educational visit. Experience has shown that it is vital that appropriate plans are in place before a visit.

Basic training in the use of Evolve: Evolve Admin twilight or school based training session. This course will help staff understand the fundamental issues involved in the planning and organisation of visits, including the assessmentandmanagementofrisk,andtheuseofEvolveforthenotificationandapprovalofvisits.

Advanced training in the ‘The Power of Evolve’: Training for whole school staff or individual delegates on how Evolve can be used to provide key data and assist schools with a range of valuable information for their own use within school, their parents and Ofsted.

Governors’ roles and responsibilities:BecomingmorefamiliarandunderstandingtheGovernorandheadteacherroleandresponsibilitiesandthelegaldutiesandpowersrelatingtoeducationalvisits.Notificationofthenecessarykey policy and guidance documents that no school should not be without. Awareness of the changing role for GovernorsandHeadteachersincurriculumforLearningOutsidetheclassroomandEducationalvisits.

Monitoring and Quality Assurance: Visit from the Educational Visits Adviser can be carried out on behalf of the school. Cost includes provision of a written monitoring report.

Outdoor Learning Cards: Whole staff training to support the development of self esteem, resilience and problem solving in pupils. The sessions demonstrate activities that can be used to link curriculum subjects withlearningoutdoors.IncludesJourneying,bouldering,teambuildingandorienteering.

Environmental Learning Cards: Training for school staff using a series of different fun environmental activities and easy to follow cards in 4 Areas of Learning:- awarenessandexperience:encourageyoungpeopletoexperiencethenaturalenvironment.- exploreandunderstand:understandthemanyrelationshipsthatmakestheenvironmentwhatitis.- sustainandconserve:encouragedtolookattheirimpactontheenvironment.- createandshare:expressinghowwefeeltowardsthenaturalenvironment.

Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Mark: Support for schools when applying for LOtC Quality Mark. LOtCMarkisthefirstnationalaccreditationawardforschoolswhichsupportsthedevelopmentoflearningoutside the classroom across all subject areas. The LOtC Mark is intended not only to recognise existing exemplary provision but also to assist and support schools in developing their LOtC offer.

Forest Skills: EYFS - KS3, Offering support to develop forest schools through observation, endorsement and action planning. Giving staff skills & confidence to establish the basics of a forest school activity.

Curriculum Enrichment: Raise your students attainment in English and Maths through real outdoor experiences. Use your own school’s great outdoors as the stimulus to inspire learners to achieve more in their core subjects. Watch your students tackle practical problem solving in an outdoor setting. We can deliverbespokeon-siteactivitieswhichwillalsohelptopromoteself-confidence,teamworkandleadership among your students.

Teaching and Learning Outside the Classroom from EYFS to KS5: The training courses are designed to teachMaths,English,Science,Geography,TechnologyandArt&Designintheschoolgroundsorfurtherafield.LessonideasandResourcepacksareprovided.

Nurturing creativity and problem solving skills: Provides opportunities for young people to accomplish challenging tasks, face fears, connect positively with others and develop self reflection through dynamic, creative and diverse outdoor opportunities. Pupils will be given the opportunities to thrive on adventurous activities that nurture their creativity and problem solving skills .

Learning Activities Outside of the classroom activities week: Let the Edsential team plan and deliver a Learning Outside the Classroom week. The week will be individually tailored to your needs and can include aspects of the following; parents activity, staff twilight and pupil sessions.

Active Maths: Research shows that pupils remember 10% of what they read and up to 90% of what they do!! This full day course is for teachers who want to expand their teaching environment beyond the 4 walls of their classroom. The course will look at developing and practical, active and innovative approach to teaching curriculum Maths.

Active English: A full day course for Primary teachers wishing to use the outdoor spaces to support the teaching of English. A creative use of the outdoor spaces in your setting to develop language skills and support the teaching of English in an exciting and stimulating environment. We will look at activities that can be used by teachers to support, extend and enhance their classroom teaching.

Writing through book creation in the outdoors: Inspirecreativeandimaginativewritingthroughtheuseofyour schools outdoor space. This 6 week programme aims to address use of language in writing through the creation of small books (writing for purpose) inspired by the outdoor spaces in their setting. The use of appropriate grammar and structure can be explored with participants producing their own books during the course.

Duke of Edinburgh Award – Bronze Expedition Supervisor Award (BESA): This2-daycourseisprimarilyfor staff who help to train and supervise Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition groups. The course aims to share good practice, and to refresh and improve knowledge and skills. Participants should gain competence and confidenceinnavigationandgroupmanagementskills.

Family Engagment through Outdoor Learning (EYFS, KS1): An excellent way to engage those families who lack confidence in an educational environment. This programme will develop communication skills, confidence through curriculum themed outdoor activities such as storytelling through nature, communication & problem solving; counting and art.
