Learn To Say NO by: Kathryn Wong I Can't Because ..... I Have No Time. One of the biggest complaints I hear from my family, friends and coaching clients is that they just don’t have enough time. Whether that be enough time to plan and cook healthy meals, get a workout in, or spend on their hobby. I’m in the same boat. This lack of time affects our goals and happiness. Do you feel the same way? Have you learned to say NO? As we approach the rush of the holiday season, our time is going to be more precious. We will squeeze in time for holiday shopping, parties, decorating, and family feasts and traditions. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and stressed out with so much to do, and you don’t want to let anyone down. I know this feeling all too well. I try to juggle all my rolls -- mom, wife, friend, daughter, snack bar mom, PTF Treasurer, and business owner. I also put pressure on myself to be the best at all of them, all the time. Can you relate? At times we all need to step back and say NO and not take on more responsibilities and tasks that don’t align to our goals. Personally I struggle with this and over commit myself. Then I end up sacrificing family time, healthy eating or my workouts. When that happens I get in a bad mood. It just all snowballs. Does this happen to you? It's Ok to Say NO. We can’t be Superwoman or Superman. And you know what, it’s not rude to say no. It’s actually something that can give you peace. When you can focus on meeting your own needs, you will do a better job at the project and task you have committed to and want to do. It’s all about living the life you want and reaching your goals. You will be a happier person when this happens. A happy balanced you will help create peace and harmony for those around you. As for the person on the other end of the no, it’s better off to be honest with them upfront and not risk letting them down in the end. Find Balance & Focus Your Time on the BEST Things. Take a few minutes today and write down everything you do. Reflect on the list. Identify some items that you can delegate. Are there items that take too much energy and time? Do you really need to do some of the things? Now rewrite the list with the must dos and things that will help you towards you goals. You might be surprised to find that you will have some time to channel towards your goals. This simple exercise can really help. Get in the habit of doing it weekly or I even do it daily. Doing it daily helps me prioritize my time and make strides towards my goals each day. I now find I am more efficient, less stressed, and I don’t have so many balls spinning aimlessly in the air. Start living the life you want and deserve!
