It has been great to see the smiling faces of our students back in the classroom and engaging with classroom activities. The word unprecedented certainly sums up what we have all been through. A massive thank you to our staff for managing the chaos and coordinating the online remote learning platform in such a short amount of time. On returning, I would like to congratulate our students on their responsible behaviour regarding the additional handwashing and hygiene protocols. Everyone has been very accommodating and respectful towards the new norms. Last week our teachers presented the students with their Week 5 awards. Congratulations to all those students who received an award. This will be repeated in Week 10 with an online virtual live feed for the presentation of awards. Prior to the disruption to school learning in Term 1, our staff had planned leadership training for our Stage 3 students. Along with this in school training we were meant to be attending the Grip leadership day. Unfortunately we can no longer attend this day, however, we have access to an online portal where we can use the resources to provide our own leadership training forum. We have combined the Grip Leadership day with our Peer Support Training program. This will be held on two consecutive days. I am looking forward to seeing the strategies and skills that our Stage 3 students develop across the two days. Across the week we celebrated Reconciliation Week starting with our out-of-uniform day on Friday 29th May. Students have been engaged in lessons related to the history of Reconciliation and what it means to some of our high profile Aboriginal people We are all in this together”. School Plan 2021 The school is in its final year of the current school plan. The staff will begin to undergo professional learning for the implementation and planning of the new school plan. This plan will be different to the current plan and when more information is released from the department, consultation can occur with the P&C. Compass The school has enlisted a new student managements system to assist school staff with attendance, semester reports and student welfare. Emails have been sent to families outlining your login details. You can download the Compass School Manager App to assist with electronic communications. This platform will be used for school reporting, attendance, welfare incidents and permission notes. Permission notes are referred to as events. A guide to the features was sent home on Monday 1st June. Just like Care Monkey, permission notes can be signed on your device. The app will allow for electronic signatures like Care Monkey.
