Immanuel is an Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Virginia, and is part of the world-wide Anglican Communion. Immanuel was founded by the Virginia Theological Seminary. We are one parish that worships in two locations, in Zabriskie Chapel (3606 Seminary Road) and in Immanuel Chapel (3737 Seminary Road) on the seminary grounds. A fully-staffed nursery is available in both chapels for those parents who would like to take advantage of this ministry. An usher would be happy to assist you in making your children comfortable and welcome. Please join us after the Eucharists for coffee and give us an opportunity to meet you. This year Immanuel is hosting a Childrens Christmas Tableaubefore a Festival Holy Eucharist on Christmas Eve at 5:00 p.m., and we need child and youth volunteers to participate in this presentation of the Christmas Story. PLEASE NOTE SCHEDULE CHANGES December 24th - January 6th: The Par ish Office will be closed Christmas Day through Friday, January 3, 2020; reopening January 6th at 10:00 a.m. Weekday Morning Prayer (10:00 a.m. Zabriskie Chapel) and Wednesday Evening Holy Eucharist II (6:00 p.m. Zabriskie Chapel) will resume the week of January 12th.

GET "IN-VESTED" IN IMMANUEL: SERVE ON THE VESTRY! We’ll have four openings on our Vestry this January, so if you are interested in becoming involved in church leadership, we encourage you to submit your name for nomination. The election is held at the Annual Meeting early next year. Vestry members serve three year terms and are responsible for a Stewardship area such as worship; senior ministry; newcomers and evangelism; and outreach, among others. To be on the Vestry, you must be age 16 or older, baptized, be confirmed or received into the church, be known as a contributor by the treasurer and have received Holy Communion at least three times the preceding year. TODAY - Forum Hour with Book Signing @ 9:15 a.m., Parish Hall: Let’s all gather in the Parish Hall at 9:15 a.m. today to enjoy our last forum hour of 2019 as the Rev. Dr. Frank Wade, Priest Associate of Immanuel, presents “Biblical Fracking: Midrash for the Modern Christian”. As he writes in the introduction, “Biblical fracking, in the spirit of its historical roots and its geological namesake, means reaching into the cracks and crevasses of the biblical narrative to extract the richness that lurks there.” At the end of his presentation, books will be available for purchase and signing.

EYC SAVE THE DATE! The second annual EYC Winter Retreat at Shr ine Mont will be held February 14 – 16, 2020. All youth grades 6 – 12 are invited to join this “youth only” retreat. It will be a weekend to relax with friends, make new friends, and share a little adventure. Weather permitting, skiing and tubing at Bryce Resort will be options!
