The Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological & Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO), the “Olympics of the Mind” is a major national youth initiative of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Montgomery County Branch.

Good News: During this last legislative session, the General Assembly enacted, and the Gov-ernor signed, HB 1234 which provides local government authority to expand the military retiree tax credit to include a retired member of the uniformed services, the military re-serves, or the national guard. In early May, the County Council passed Expedited Bill 13-17 to expand the property tax credit for military retirees to include a retired member of the uniformed services, the military reserves, and the National Guard.

ACT-SO Gold Medalist, Kaily Richards sings at the dinner.

This year several dozen students applied for scholarships from most of the Montgomery County High Schools. Each scholarship award is named after a supporting state senator or community organization.
