The Masterclass will include a series of theoretical presentations and discussions on the key aspects of estimation eg. QA-QC, statistical data analysis, domaining, grade capping, variography, QKNA, estimation, validation and classification. These subjects will be interspersed with real world examples using Leapfrog EDGE with the final aim of producing a validated, classified and robust resource estimate.

Topics discussed:

The course is designed as an introduction to Leapfrog EDGE for use in resource estimation studies.The course carefully combines the latest estimation software from Seequent with SRK's worldwide experience and knowledge in developing robust estimates.

Leapfrog EDGE is a new resource estimation solution developed by Seequent (previously ARANZ Geo). Leapfrog EDGE allows resource estimates to be completed in an intuitive and highly visual 3D environment with easy to follow workflows.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The course is designed primarily for mining and resource geologists who are already involved in developing resource estimates and wish to learn about estimation, using Leapfrog EDGE.

No previous experience in this software is required but a background in resource estimation using other 3D modelling software is preferred, though not essential.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Leapfrog EDGE software will be used for the practical sessions. Please bring your own laptop (with a 3D graphics card installed). All training software and licenses will be provided.

The course is not an advanced geostatistics course, though the fundamentals of a geostatistical approach to estimation will be taught.

PETER GLEESONCORPORATE CONSULTANT, SRK CARDIFF

Peter has over 30 years of mining geology and resource estimation. Peter has worked in both open pit and underground operation production roles. In addition he has worked on a diverse range of deposit types, ranging from precious metals, base metals through to bulk commodities. He is a CP in many of these commodities. Peter is a firm believer in the importance of geology in developing resource estimates. He is a firm advocate of hands on geology through pit mapping, face mapping etc and generally driving the resource development from the “coal face” rather than only from a computer screen.
