On Friday, June 13th, ministers and lecturers from around Scotland’s central belt gathered with FM staff for our third annual student conference, called
‘The Edge’. Jesse Hellman, Andrew Quinn and Janice Quinn presented their dissertations and dealt with some theological and practical questions from the floor. It was thrilling to see those attending so engaged with the topics chosen and encouraging of the students.
o Jesse explored the role of works at the final judgement; dealing with
several major viewpoints and establishing his position with clarity and biblical
confidence. o Andrew asked how the gifts in Eph 4:11 fit within the
church, and how they are to be employed in itinerant ministry for the good of the
Church at large. o Janice presented the results of some grassroots research she had
conducted into the spiritual life of mothers with young children and the
church’s response to their specific opportunities and challenges in discipleship.
Pray that their learning will be a catalyst for personal growth and will influence their ministries as they step out into what the Lord
has for each in this next stage.
I had the privilege of working along side Andrew, Heather, and Katie in a tent mission. This time really built me up, and encouraged me to try hit new horizons and reach past my comfort zone and into the unknown, strengthening my dependence on God.
What I was doing: door to door work, outreach events, school assemblies. Placement was challenging, busy and God certainly used it to bring me out of my comfort zone.
It was special to meet people and engage with them, thrilling to hear God's voice speaking to me and sense that He was also speaking to many people who we met. Some came to faith, others were restored to fellowship, Christians were encouraged and still others heard the good news for the very first time!
I had the privilege of spending four weeks in Ballymena where God both challenged and blessed me. I was taken out my comfort zone and was able to learn more about the awesome God we serve!
I have known of the work and influence of The Faith Mission Bible College since I came to Edinburgh in 1969 and my appreciation of it has increased immeasurably. It works hard at providing its students with an under-standing of God’s Word and the Saviour it proclaims and at the same time of encouraging personal holiness. Long may it continue to do so. One of the things I like most about college is the fact that there’s such a family feel to the place. I really do feel like I’m studying with brothers and sisters. Another thing that I really appreciate is the servant-heartedness of all of the lecturers. They really do shine Jesus as they serve us through teaching in lectures.

After I found out I would be mainly doing Children's work, I thought I wouldn't enjoy my placement at all. I've never enjoyed doing Children's work, and I thought I'm not called to minister to children. The Lord changed my mind completely about that. Now I'm sure I will be doing more Children's work, and I will even enjoy it!
What I spent time doing: Testifying to God's transforming power and sharing time with people in churches and community environments declaring Jesus, the Saviour. Blessed to have had two fabulous mentors and encouragers and to learn from their vast experience.
What I was doing: Evangelistic Meetings and Prayer Unions. There is nothing so effective as a personal invitation to draw non-Christians to events where the gospel is presented. This was the method God used to bring people into the theme nights that we ran. God was good, and we long to hear of His kingdom-building in Donegal!
I really appreciated being able to spend time with people who have been working for years in full time ministry, being able to ask any questions I had and to be given such honest answers has been hugely beneficial to me. I also feel that I have learnt a lot about myself and have been challenged in ways I was not expecting. I am very grateful to God for all that He has taught

tells only a little about the true majesty of the Lord.
Perhaps that is why He continues to captivate us.

The choice we face is not, as many imagine, between heaven and hell.
Rather, the choice is between heaven and this world.

but only the wise will exchange this world for heaven.

At FMBC our conviction is that best practice in ministry happens when our heads, hearts and hands are all engaged.

Each student has a week’s team placement in February, a month’s placement in May and 2 weeks of summer camps. We are thoroughly blessed to have a wealth of experienced Faith Mission evangelists around the UK and Ireland who partner with us in students’ training. It was thrilling to hear reports from the May placements of lives changed, students challenged and communities impacted. We deeply thank you for every prayer on behalf of students at FMBC.
Student : James Brown Location : Suffolk and Preston
Mentors : Stephen & Cynthia Walker and James & Lynda Bovenizer. Placement was a fantastic opportunity to gain an insight into the many and varied ministries that The Faith Mission are involved in. It was a privilege to work alongside evangelists who took real interest in us and wanted us to grow and learn through our placement. I was taken outside my comfort zone as I stood in front of a room of people, and spoke on the meaning of Christianity. Although primary schools are more familiar, taking an assembly is still daunting —Christ gave me strength! It was encouraging to see God's work being done and people reached with the Gospel. We are trusting Him to open people’s eyes and change their lives.

Being involved in the training of a new generation of Christian workers is exciting. Watching students learn, grow and being
moulded into the likeness of Christ is a real privilege and also a
vitally important work.
According to Operation World 60 million people on these islands are without God and without hope. If ever we needed a new generation of people like Philip the evangelist in Acts 8 it is now. Philip was driven from his home in Jerusalem because of persecution, but behind the dark clouds of providence God was at work. As Philip travelled into Samaria he took the gospel with him and, being the kind
of person that he was, he was unable to keep it to himself.
God used him to see scores of people transformed by His grace.
For a Jew to reach out to the Samaritans was unthinkable.
For someone to reach out with the message of God’s salvation
was simply ground breaking. Philip was prepared to
cross borders and step over boundaries to see
people changed by the gospel. There are places all around these islands where there is nothing by way of gospel witness. In other locations there may be small and struggling churches. We believe what is needed is a new generation of people who can handle the word of God accurately and communicate it effectively – who are ‘gospel-driven people’ at heart. People who want to introduce their community to Jesus. We are involved in preparing this new generation of gospel-driven workers and it is exciting. Please pray for us.
Thank you for all your support
in the past. We could not do what we do without your help.
