LEADING FOR TRANSFORMATION COURSE OVERVIEW This seven-week course is for those who want to delve into the latest discoveries and thinking on how leaders and churches can be more effective in moving people forward toward full, Christ-centered devotion. Leaning into findings from cutting-edge REVEAL research and best practices and principles from a variety of leaders and churches, you’ll explore some of the most impactful principles and practices you can employ in your own life, in your church culture, and in strategy, in order to best encourage the transformation process in others. WEEK 1/Leading Change/Virtual Classroom: Thursday at 1 pm CST Lesson Overview: This lesson features a Virtual Classroom experience hosted by Mindy Caliguire and pastor Dan Meyer. You’ll receive an introduction to a framework for how churches can be more effective in spiritual transformation and discover how it’s being applied in real church settings. (Virtual Classroom will be posted for viewing by those unable to attend live.) Also features a video segment from Cally Parkinson and written materials from Dallas Willard. WEEK 2/Begin at the Beginning Lesson Overview: Real spiritual transformation is unlikely to happen in a congregation if the church leaders themselves are not experiencing transformation. In this lesson, we’ll consider perspectives from Cally Parkinson, Harvey Carey, and Nancy Beach, as we talk about the strong positive connection between a leader’s spiritual vitality and the soul health of a team. WEEK 3/Leading from a Healthy Soul Lesson Overview: This lesson takes a look at practical ways a leader can begin caring for his or her own soul, as a precursor to caring for others. View video content from Bill Hybels on how to stay replenished in leadership, hear from Tim Keller on recovering from burnout, and take a self-assessment on your current spiritual health. WEEK 4/Environmental Impact Lesson Overview: Healthy cultures—like good soil—promote spiritual growth. Unhealthy cultures, like rocky or weed-filled soil, stifle it. This lesson begins with a discussion between Henry Cloud, Jim Mellado, and Nancy Beach on building a culture for authentic spiritual growth. You’ll also complete a culture assessment for your organization and receive video instruction on how to strengthen the culture in which you lead. WEEK 5/Operating in a Spiritual Reality Lesson Overview: Because of the spiritual nature of church work, it’s logical that a church’s culture should be different than a corporate culture. But how should it differ? This lesson features a video interview with Gary Haugen, president of International Justice Mission, explaining how important a spiritual perspective is to carrying out the work of God. Also included is written material from Mike Bonem. HOW CAN WE HELP? 800.570.9812 | THELIFTPROJECT@WILLOWCREEK.COM | WILLOWCREEK.COM/LIFT
