1.0 INTRODUCTION
On 19 March 2016 is turn for group ME 40 to go to leadership camp. The
venue for the camp is at X! "aser Tag# $ulu "angat. %e&ve 'een doing a lot
of activities such as X! "aser Tag# !iver Trac(ing# !iver )l*ing )o+# !iver
Tu''ing# "astic Tag and also mini activities. )or t,o da*s all student of ME 40
,as divided into t,o group ,hich is -roup and -roup /. Our team ,as in
-roup /. )irst activities that our team doing is "astic Tag. )or this activit* ,e
fight ,ith other team '* using the lastic# goggle and the 'all to aims the target
,hich is to put do,n the enem* or shoot the target. This activit* reuire the
strateg* of team and strength to shoot the enem*. fter that ,e are doing a
river trac(ing. )or river trac(ing ,e need to ,al( in the ungle also in river.
These activities reuire the team to help each other '* give the right direction
from front to the last person. Then ,e also do the !iver )l*ing )o+. t night
,e start ,ith mini activities. %e ,ere doing a challenging thin(ing game ,hich
is called pple ie and also introduce ourselves. round 10.30 pm# ,e ,ere
starting the Outdoor "aser Tag. )or this activit* our team group 5 ,as
com'ined ,ith other team group 6 to fight other team. Our group choose
'lue as our colour. )irst attempt our group ,as fail 'ecause ,e didn&tstrategi7e the plan carefull*. /ut second attempt ,e ,ere ,inning 'ecause
the leader gives instruction and planned ,ell and ,e also cooperate ,ith our
team mem'ers. e+t da*# ,e start the activit* ,ith 'rea(fast and doing an
e+ercise. Then ,e start ,ith !iver Tu''ing. %e need to 'alance ourselves on
the tu'es and one '* one ,as release to flo, the river. %e are getting to the
finish area around 1.15 pm. Then ,e are heading 'ac( to the campus. %hat
,e learn from all this activit* is the cooperation 'et,een each other# give ,ell
instruction# and strateg* of planning of activit*.

The o'ective of organi7ing this "eadership 8amp is to
• Trained students to appl* the leadership st*le that the* learn in class
,ith the inevita'l* conflicts arise among teams mem'ers.
• :nderstand and handle stage of team development# design an
effective team in term of si7e# diversit* and interdependence.
• /uild a close relationship among team mem'ers '* identif* the
challenge associate ,ith teams ,or(.
• Enhance the leadership st*le that students have in their o,n self.
• llo, students to gain e+perience '* e+ploring the nature and do some
adventures activities that can challenge their mind.
• Encourage students to ,or( in colla'orative teams that achieve high
performance through shared mission and collective responsi'ilit*.

companies. ccording to our research# leaders help themselves and others to
do the right things. The* set direction# 'uild an inspiring vision# and create
something ne,. "eadership is a'out mapping out ,here *ou need to go to
;,in; as a team or an organi7ation< and it is d*namic# e+citing# and
inspiring. /esides that# ,hile leaders set the direction# the* must also use
management s(ills to guide their people to the right destination# in a smooth
and efficient ,a*.

enthuasism# self=assurance# compulsiveness and social 'oldness that ,e
found from this >"eadership programme?.

Emotional sta'ilit* refers to a person&s a'ilit* to remain calm or even (eel
,hen faced ,ith pressure or stress. @omeone ,ho is emotionall* unsta'le ismore volatile# ,hich means the person faces an increased ris( of reacting ,ith
violent or harmful 'ehaviours ,hen provo(ed. Emotional sta'ilit* also usuall*
happen ,hen a chaotic environment appear. @ometimes something is out of
control. At&s 'ecause ma*'e lac( inner po,er and don&t (no, ho, to control or
dealing ,ith difficult situations. /ut# those ,ho are emotionall* a,are are
often more emotionall* sta'le. -ood leader must a'le to tolerate ,ith an*
condition.
E+ample for "aser Tag activit*# since 2 teams are com'ines# there ,ill 'e 2
leaders in a group. @o the leader should tolerate ,ith each other to handle the
situation and not let the emotional such as angr* to control them. The* should
cooperate ,ith each other to find the solution for an* pro'lem. @o# to avoid
this pro'lem# leaders should thin( positive and not fight each other. /esides
that# a leader should planning ,ell the strateg* for the activit*. "earn or
practice to tolerance and should open *ourself up to ne, e+perience and turninto a strong and confident personalities.

precise in their social interactions. Overall# the* ,ere ver* protective of their
integrit* and reputation and conseuentl* tended to 'e sociall* a,are and
careful# a'undant in foresight# and ver* careful ,hen ma(ing decisions or
determining specific actions.
n e+ample of this characteristic is li(e the moment of one from the
leadership programme participant are having accident ,hile the group /
having river tu'ing. On that time # there are a'out 40 participant that oin the
programme and it divided '* t,o ,hich mean 20 participant go to group and
20 more participant go to group /. %hile the group ,ant to finish their
tu'ing# one of the facilitator said that there are one girl that are drop of from
the river fl*ing fo+ activit* and get the 'od* drop on the 'ig stone. @o all group
'ecome scared# stress and don&t (no, ,hat to do ,hile the* ,ere an
accident. @o# one of the leader of group get an idea to calm do,n the
situation and help the facilitator to get the girl from that accident place. The
girl loo(s ver* ,ea( and sic(ness# so the leader as( all the 'o*s to help this
girl get out from the coldness of ,ater to ma(e sure the 'od* temperature
getting normal ,hile ,aiting for the am'ulance. @o this leader has control the
situation 'ecome 'etter ,ith his (no,ledge to help this girl.

/eing a leader is all a'out enthusiasm. Even one enthusiastic person in a
group can change the entire attitude of that group. Enthusiasm is one of the
critical characteristics that define the leader that gets superior results from
their people. ;An the ancient -ree( vernacular enthusiasm meant inspiration or
divine influence. An modern English it refers to intense eno*ment# interest# or
approval? Michael&s# 2009.
s ,e can see from the team 'uilding camping# usuall* all the leaders are
seen as active# e+pressive and energetic. Especiall* ,hen ,e are reuired to
do all the activities there such as "astic Tag# !iver Tre((ing# !iver )l*ing )o+#
!iver Tu'ing# and "aser Tag. ll these activities need an enthusiasm
characteristic in our self either the leaders or their team. )or e+ample# our
leader al,a*s sho,s his alertness to,ards our opponent# his openness to
hear all our opinion# and ver* energetic to form an* strateg* ever* time ,hile
,e do all the activities. %ith that (ind of leader# ,e as a group mem'er feel
his energ* and eno* our time 'eing together to do all the activities. Overall#
all the group mem'ers are ver* enthusiasm.

%e start the river fl*ing fo+ after the river tre((ing activit* around 5.30 pm.
This activit* need student to 'e courage to ump from high platform and slide
into the river. )or this activit*# students need to slide on a fi+ rope 'et,een 2
points in a distance of 100 B 150 meters. There occurs the situation the
student contri'ution ,hen some student is not dare to doing the activit*
'ecause the* scared# 'ut all team mem'ers ,as giving support to him and
it&s increase the confidence to do the river fl*ing fo+. An the term of leadership#
the leaders sho, ho, to support the other mem'ers to do this activit*. /*
that# it&s sho, that the leader gives a positive encouragement to the student to
achieve goals.

!iver trac(ing is an activit* ,here ,e as a group have to ,al( in the river and
side of the river ,hich is ,hen the area of river is deep so ,e need to get onthe side of river. The area of river trac(ing is a'out 1 (ilometer or 'elo, then
that and it&s too( a'out 45 minutes to finish the trac(ing. This activit* are
sho,ing ho, the leader clear the o'stacle for their follo,er or group mate to
handle an* situation. )or e+ample# ,hen there&s situation li(e there&s person
that has heav* ,eight of 'od* and ho, to let this person to to 'e confidence
and ta(ing ris( on ho, to handle the situation li(e ump out from the hole. The
leader ,ill as( the team mem'er to hold his hand ,hile he tried to ump from
hole to ma(e sure he can 'e confidence to ump off. This is ,hat leader role to

!iver tu'ing is our second da* activit* at Xnr "aser Tag. This activit* is uite
same li(e the river tre((ing 'ut this one# ,e have a tu'e and stic(. This
activit* reuired half an hour contri'ution from all group mem'ers to sho,
their cooperation# confidence# enthusiasm and good relationship ,ith each
other in the group. !iver tu'ing activities also reuired us to 'e patience ,hile
ta(ing a ris( along the river.
The team 'uilding that occur in this activit*# as A can see# m* group mem'er
,hich is fi# $a7,an and adia having hard time from the start to the middle
of the river. The* three helping each other to move '* using the stic( and the*
made it until the end. )rom that situation# ,e can see that there is good
cooperation and support from them to overcome their hard times. %e also
communicate ,ith each other from the start until the end to ma(e sure that
ever*one safe and 'e in a right direction.
Other than that# river tu'ing activit* also gives our o,n self ne, e+perience
,hich is gain confidence to do the adventure tas(# ,illing to ta(e an* ris(#
overcome the pro'lems and 'uild a strong relationship ,ith other group
mem'ers. s a conclusion# ,ithout team 'uilding such as cooperation and
support from other mem'ers# ,e can&t feel the eno*ment ,hile doing this

"astic Tag is similar ,ith "aser Tag activit* ,hich is "astic Tag used a lastic to
attac( an opponent and "aser tag used a ,eapon. "astic Tag activit* gives
man* contri'utions to the team 'uilding# ,here the activities are 'ased on
understanding the differences 'et,een a group and team and aim at
enhancing relations through 'etter communication. /ecause in one group# ,e
must communicate each other to tell the strateg* to attac( the opponent.
"astic tag activit* is a fun team 'uilding activit* that ,ill help corporate team
learn a'out each other ,hile maintaining a slight competitive t,ist and
challenge for the team to learn
An this activit*# our leader# fi give an instruction to us ho, to attach the
opponent. %e as a team mem'er must follo, his instruction 'ecause from
there ,e can 'uild a team 'uilding. "astic Tag is ver* fun activit* even
sometimes it is ver* hurt ,hen an opponent attac( on us. /ut# it is gives us a

recommendation from the activities that ,e alread* done there# first ,e thin(#
all the team mem'er should give more cooperation especiall* ,hen ,e need
to form a group. @ome others mem'ers do not ,ant to split group ,ith their
close friends. @o others need to ,ait for them to ma(e a decision ,hich is can
cause an argument# 'ecause ever*one does not tolerate and give full
cooperation. The* should thin( of others and time ,asted rather than put their
need first.
@econd# ,hat ,e thin( need to 'e improve is an activit* at Xnr "aser Tag. At
can 'e improve '* add more activit* such as e+ercise# music 'all and music
chair at the night. ot ust an activit* ice='rea(ing 'ut add other activit* to
ma(e all participate and 'ecome closer.
Third# ,e thin( a safet* at Xnr "aser Tag need to improve li(e at a place that
,e do a fl*ing fo+. The ,a* that Xnr "aser Tag need to improve is the* should
prepare a safet* helmet and 'elt to ever*one that ,ant to do a fl*ing fo+. This
'ecomes more safet* 'ecause ,hen our time to do the fl*ing fo+# there is an
accident ,hich is our group mem'er that falling do,n from the platform of
fl*ing fo+. The* should do something to avoid this accident happen again to
ne+t future group.

more toilets 'ecause it gives us pro'lem to prepare ourselves especiall* in
