    LEADERSHIP

Peer EnquiryThis is a developmental leadership model where trained headteachers conduct an ‘enquiry’ in a colleague school, looking at practices, learning and teaching, data and processes to identify strengths and areas for development. Almost a quarter of central south Wales schools have now been involved in peer enquiry. External evaluation and practitioner feedback has been extremely positive. Characteristics of peer enquiry:

» Hosting a Peer Enquiry is free » Leading a Peer Enquiry generates £1250 for your

school » It is not an inspection » It is a rigorous and robust process » The enquiry process is run by headteachers for

headteachers » Professional benefits are proving to be

reciprocal and sustained » It boosts self-evaluation and school

improvement planning » Schools working with practitioners from schools

outside their Local Authority and School Improvement Groups develop wider networks of collaboration.

» New partnerships have resulted in innovative practice sharing and teacher development opportunities

If you would like to lead or host a peer enquiry, please contact Alison Tovey ([email protected]).

Executive HeadshipThis is a six full day programme to prepare headteachers to lead in a multi-school environment. Aspects of the programme include:

» Introduction to Executive Headship – scope of the role, responsibilities and accountability, formal agreements, governance

» Practicalities of soft/ hard federation. Staffing, finance, communication

» Workshops with experienced federation Heads exploring their unique approach to the role

» Case studies and practical activities to develop understanding of the Executive headship role. Will include curriculum issues, quality of teaching, use of resources and joint v distinct ethos

» Are outstanding serving Headteachers with at least 4 years Headship experience

» Expect to remain at their current school for at least one year after being selected

Aspiring Future Middle LeadersThis programme seeks to provide an insight and experience of challenges faced by middle leaders in schools. Sessions will cover aspects of learning and teaching, systems of accountability, data and assessment, achievement and wellbeing and pastoral roles, through interactive sessions.

The programme is developed to provide similar interactive approaches and key foci on developing the skills of the workforce to that of the ASPIRE NQT and OTP programmes.
