grid | power V L (series OPzS)

For the above listed stationary application, a low-maintenance vented lead acid battery of type grid|power V L, according to DIN 40736 part 1, is recommended. A certified quality assurance system according to ISO 9001 / ISO14001 must be provided for the product.

The cells are ready for use as filled and charged or dry pre-charged with extra electrolyte, both options are equipped with tubular positive plates and negative flat plates. The positive and negative plates are made of a lead alloy, Antimony content of <2%, and separated by a chloride-free microporous separator for short-circuit protection.

When using chargers with I/U-characteristic according to DIN 41773 and a float charge voltage of 2.23 ± 1% V/C the expected design life of the batteries in continuous battery power supply is up to 20 years, at 20 °C. Expected cycle life of the cells, at 80% DoD, is rated for up to 1500 cycles of charge and discharge.

The clear-sighted, high solidity and smooth-walled battery containers are made of halogen-free SAN-plastic with UL94-HB fire classification, or, if requested or specified, a UL94-V0 rated polycarbonate containers. The colored cell covers are made of halogen-free ABS-plastic, and bonded gas and electrolyte-tight with glue to the cell container. The battery containers are equipped with a service opening for convenient and efficient maintenance. The plug is designed as labyrinth plug, where electrolyte vapor partially condenses to falls back into the cell and extending watering intervals.

Charged and filled cells use a dilute sulfuric acid with a nominal electrolyte density of 1.240 kg/l, based on 20°C, where dry pre-charged cells must be provided for filling with sulfuric acid with a nominal electrolyte density of 1.230 kg/l based on 20°C.

Terminal feedthroughs on the container cover must be vapor and electrolyte-tight but allow for growth of the plates; as to not damage the container cover over the lifetime. This bond between the cell cover and the cell’s terminals is achieved by using an O-ring to seal. (Pole sealings with bonds are not permitted.) The plastic encapsulated, therefore fully insulated and corrosion-free lead pole is equipped with a non-ferrous metal insert with internal thread M8 for the pole screw connection.

The non-ferrous metal insert within the pole will be protected through the molded sealing lip of the fully insulated copper connector when screwed.

Contact protection according to BGV A3 / IP 2X is provided by fully insulated copper connectors and screw heads.

The pole screws are to be provided with a self-dissolving coating on the thread. For easy testing of the voltage, a measurement opening on the screw head is exposed.

It is suggested that the Battery should be equipped with a recombination system, which provides an external recombination of the hydrogen / oxygen mixture and extends watering intervals, while lowering ventilation requirements. This recombination system also aids in avoiding any damage to the accumulator during refilling, reduces the discharge of explosive gasses, and most importantly, inhibits back-ignition of aerosols via an integrated ceramic filter.

sun | power V L (series OPzS solar.power)

For the above listed stationary application, a low-maintenance vented lead acid battery of type sun|power V L, according to DIN 40736 part 1, is recommended. A certified quality assurance system according to ISO 9001 / ISO14001 must be provided for the product.

The cells are ready for use as filled and charged or dry pre-charged with extra electrolyte, both options are equipped with positive tubular plates and negative flat plates.

(Pole sealings with bonds are not permitted.) It is suggested that the Battery should be equipped with a recombination system, which provides an external recombination of the hydrogen / oxygen mixture and extends watering intervals, while lowering ventilation requirements. This recombination system also aids in avoiding any damage to the accumulator during refilling, reduces the discharge of explosive gasses, and most importantly, inhibits back-ignition of aerosols via an integrated ceramic filter.
