Lead Officer - Person Specification

Essential:● An understanding and passion for Community Action:MK’s Community Development

principles.● Demonstrable track record of recruiting and managing/coordinating volunteers● Enthusiasm and a creative flair● Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills, curiosity and quick learning.● The skills of partnership working and relationship building with key stakeholders,

including local authority officers, academics, and other community sector workers and residents.

● Flexibility, adaptability and resilience: an overall ability to deal with challenging environments.

● Excellent verbal and written English skills in a range of styles and for a variety of audiences.

● Excellent skills in listening to others, and an ability to understand and process that information.

● Organisational skills - the ability to manage own time and workload in a self-motivated fashion, task-focussed; the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in, and between, teams.

● Willingness to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and an awareness of diversity and inclusion values.

● IT proficiency including Microsoft Word and Excel.● Confident and able presenter and networker, excited to act as an ambassador for

Community Action: MK● Business development experience, proven ability to spot potential new opportunities

for Community Action: MK.● Flexibility in terms of working hours, as some project activities will happen in the

evenings and at weekends

Desirable:● CA: MK uses a Google based system so previous use of Google● Previous experience of working with communities, young people or families in either

a paid or voluntary capacity● Previous experience of project management discipline and processes● Experience of using social media and other communications channels.● Understanding of local and national policies affecting the voluntary sector and

communities in Milton Keynes● Ability required to travel for this role.● Experience of Line management● Experience in strategic and project planning/management● Ability to develop baseline assessments indicators of success
