EDW Plan of Action

• Goal: Publish revised EDW project schedule– Team has completed the ERCOT-wide Nodal Data Services Master List– Currently in the process of confirming the project’s scope, prioritizing the work,

and developing a project plan and schedule, complete with assumptions and dependencies

– We plan to have the revised project schedule available by December 3rd

– Schedule will be adjusted as upstream deliverables slip – this should be expected

– Priorities are meeting the protocols first; requests outside protocols will be delivered in later phases

EDW Plan of Action

• Goal: Complete requirements process and publish report/extract layouts to Market– ERCOT business has identified key internal resources to assist EDW

team with completion of requirements• Isabel Flores is serving as the overall EDW business user liaison• Jackie Ashbaugh/Tom Kornegay leading business requirements for COMS• John Adams is leading business requirements for Section 8 – Compliance• Isabel is leading business requirements for all others

– Leveraging the same template for gathering report/extract/replication requirements across all business units

ERCOT will utilize this report to ensure that all SCADA residuals (SE MW – SCADA) for all Transmission Elements over 100kV are <10% of emergency rating or <10Mw (whichever is greater) on 99.5% of all elements during a 30 day period. This reporting will enable the ERCOT to report equipment repair needs to TSP’s and QSE’s.

EDS2 Accomplishments

• Completed replication in Dev environment• Completed V1 telemetry data mart (architected solution to join

EMS and PI data for reporting)• Completed dimensional data model for telemetry reporting• Completed interface to maintain dimensional reporting for critical

points and communication outage reporting• Completed transition to hourly outage and hourly PI feed• Completed implementation of the extract framework in

development environment and tested process• Implemented Cognos framework manager for use with telemetry

data mart

Assumptions

• Meeting protocol requirements is the top priority• Deliverables will be high quality – minimize work-arounds• Similar replication extracts and reporting requirements will be

captured in one CSD document. Additional CSD documents will be created as needed

• Data retention and assumptions will be part of the EDW project level CSD, which will be presented to TPTF for approval during the November 26-27th meeting

Setting Expectations

• EDW is dependent upon:– Data sources being ready on time– Business requirements being delivered on time– Infrastructure

• The EDW schedule will continue to change as upstream dependencies change

• The EDW team will focus on prioritized EDW deliverables with maniacal focus– We will hold the appropriate upstream owners accountable for their

deliverables to us– We will escalate as appropriate– We will work iteratively to get as much done as possible in a timely

manner
