In reality, I've never actually learned to ride a motorbike. For me it was always enough to just stay on the saddle, hoping the journey would pass without any unwelcome surprises. Then, someone suggested I should take part in a training session on the Castelletto di Branduzzo circuit, where they would provide tips on driving a motor vehicle, which I amicably define as "the method of transport that I do not feel is for me." I said Yes straightaway – naturally in a tour group.

After registration and briefing, we had our first glimpse of the circuit, followed by a good hour and a half in the classroom and then moved onto a technical explanation of the vehicles and the track. It was here that I began to appreciate how useful it was to go back to school, and the importance of being part of a group of motorcycle enthusiasts, with whom the relationship didn't end when you bought your vehicle, as it does with a dealer. Ercole Maffezzini, in fact, is a point of reference for getting technical insights and helpful tips about travelling safely with a bike.

This Academy was his idea, and accommodates both riders who are tourists by instinct, and those who are a little sportier by nature. After the classroom session, returning to the track had a completely different flavour: inside the helmet, you start up with a grin and begin to experience everything you've been taught, and realise that you're now driving in a more relaxed way. I don't know if there's going to be a second edition, but certainly this has taken a special place in the cabinet of things it’s pleasant and very useful to recollect.

Next April, on the 22nd. and 23rd., among the green hills of Varano De' Melegari (Parma), we'll be raising the curtain on the tenth - yes, you read that correctly – the

"tenth" edition of Moto Guzzi! A ten year "career" for a motorcycling initiative of such indubitable breadth that few brand clubs could boast of having organised it in the time or have been able to offer it to its own membership, even today. Something that was started quite by accident, has had the honour of steadily establishing itself until it’s become a significant sporting event. Objective achieved? Undoubtedly, because we knew this was just the first of a series of milestones we had to achieve. Because nobody, neither the organisers or the participants had any intention of stopping, and because so many "Guzzisti" dreamed about having a chance to finally witness the track debut of a new sporting

event - "Moto Guzzi" - for so long. Subject to one important assumption, Moto Guzzi riders will this year "warm their

first tyres" during the penultimate weekend of April (Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd at Varano De' Melegari) and on 20th and 21st May, find themselves on the prestigious

circuit at Vallelunga (RM) and, later, on 24th and 25th June, between the kerbstones in Adria (RO). After the summer break, there are two unmissable dates from the Italian Motorcycle Federation to mark on your calendar: Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September- Imola, before the season ends on 7th and 8th October, on the prestigious scenic track at Misano Adriatico. In any event, as is now customary, as well as being designed to keep the costs of taking part down, this is directed towards rewarding consistent lap times (regularity) and not the global speeds of performances. All in all, apart from wanting to get more people onto the track and, as a consequence, to get them to drive more safely on the road, there is the further aim of safeguarding the aesthetic appearance and valuable engines of the individual vehicles engaged in the race, whether they are testimonials to the historical heritage of Moto Guzzi (the past), or more sublime expressions of Motorsport architectures whose elegant lines distinguish them from the more recent "made in Mandello del Lario" creations. A warm invitation is extended to all our friends, be they old or new, who want to meet up with other Guzzisti enthusiasts at the box that Moto Guzzi World Club makes available to its members at all race weekends as a meeting point. Whether you come for the track events, or just to socialise, there will always be someone waiting to share the same passion with you here.

Recovered by Rodaggio Film after 60 years, the legendary film set in the world of two wheels is going to be restored. 60 days to contribute on Kickstarter and receive collectibles as rewards! Lasting 60 days, the Kickstarter campaign will fund the restoration of I fidanzati della morte, the movie that for many years was a chimera to all motorcycle history fanatics, which was recovered by Rodaggio Film after a two years long research. Among the many rewards for those who will donate, the film’s DVD and VoD. I fidanzati della morte is an unique movie, offering an incredible overview on a sport season which remained unequalled for the italian exellences, with Guzzi and Gilera engaging in a battle of design and innovations, such as Moto Guzzi V8. Many are the scenes shot inside Guzzi’s factories and even inside Mandello’s wind tunnel, of which almost no other footage was ever shot. The film by Romolo Marcellini stars, trailer https://vimeo.com/195431304, in addition to many popular actors such as Sylva Koscina and Rik Battaglia, many of the ‘50s motorcycle legends: Liberati, Lorenzetti, Milani, Duke, Lomas, Armstrong, Woods, Monneret, Dale, Kavanagh. The film and audio restoration will be entrusted to the prestigious L'Immagine Ritrovata film restoration laboratory, and from June it will be available in a DVD enriched by a booklet and including english, spanish, french, german, japanese subtitles. Club Moto Guzzi? There are a lot of clubs, but none are due as much respect as this club, which is fantastic. No-one's excluded from the Guzzisti family. Moto Guzzi World Club laid down the regulations, and while quite a few clubs meet these standards, and others are trying to achieve the same aims and are super active in taking part, there are others who consider they don’t need to adopt them: we therefore need to attempt to highlight these differences in a list of clubs, which, I emphasise again, must not affect your enthusiasm, but serve as a way of recognising and saying thank you to everyone who's played a part in the life of the club. So we've researched a symbol here that we can put next to the name of clubs that have adopted all of the principles listed, as a way of recognising them: a Cockade that changes colour according to the number of years the club has respected the same principles as us.
