On pages 60 to 61 and page 83, Holden invites his cab drivers to have a drink with him. He was feeling lonely, and though he didn’t think much about the cab drivers and their personalities, he felt like he could extend their taxi-car conversation to a local bar, and maybe share a few stories. However, each time, the cab drivers decline the request and Holden is left alone. This scene shows the reader that Holden will ask just about anyone to just sit down and have a conversation with him.
